Heh, well if they want to watch me roll and maybe me and Erin kill two-6 people before being overwhelmed sure. But we can barely handle 3 wolves, 20+ cultists with at least two Demonologists amidst them wasn't something we'd beat. This just saved an unpleasant mess in the process.

Ehhh.... I don't want to get too involved, but that's not precisely true. Erin is a Wielder with Hellfire Blast and Devil's Lightning, both excellent AoE powers that can lay waste to entire squads of dudes at the same time. Denna might be a bit crispy afterwards, but that's not terribly important!

Well it's a large bedroom. I don't deny Erin is one hell of a cannon. But even assuming that our failed perception check didn't let em get first goes and we end in the same position, She'd need to take down most of em and especially the casters at once. Though yes, my character being murdered by Erin's friendly fire has been highly likely given the sheer output she has.
But truthfully, I don't mind in the least. If I wanted guaranteed success I;d probably have done something less pure fightery haha. And all considered we've not been making the most wise decisions anyhow.
Guess it suits well for Mamono's playstyle since horrible things happening to my characters doesn't faze me so much. Only thing that does is them not being, well, playable any more, in the literal sense not the I don;t like them anymore sense. And stuff happening to npcs haha.

I don't feel it was unfair at all - we got the warning signs both Zil and I and we still had our characters sleep without standing guard in a dubious inn.
The perception roll was more the "last ditch" than the actual solution. If Erin had been awake, for instance, it would've been different. Or Denna. It amounts more to, as Zil said, bad choices which weren't fixed by luck of the dice, but the bad choices came first.
With that being said, I'm pretty sure Erin would've been more than capable to at least give them some pause. They're cultists, not idiots, and nobody wants to be the first one to run into the mage. Sure she can't kill everyone, but she can kill /you/ in particular if you're that one. Denna could, in theory, just stand near her in case someone tried to sneak behind, but covering one door shouldn't be too difficult when you can blow up everything on the other side of it if they stay too close.
It's all just theorycraft anyways, for all I know they might've poisoned their food and drink the next day.

Warriors are totally the best, it's those mages and spirit wielders that are chumps just waiting to get pushed over by random goblins. And succubi too, I guess, but that one probably goes without saying. Pointy metal sticks 5ever.

I suppose hammers are okay, if you're fighting a darksteel nail or something.
Greatswords should be your choice whenever you're stepping away from carpentry though. I mean, they even have "great" and "sword" right there in the name, how could you go wrong? And if you wield one in each hand, you've got double the great and double the sword. I highly recommend it unless you're trying to get other people to make fun of your lack of greatness and swordness behind your back.

I have received permission from Tassadar to work on a roguelike edition of DG4, when said edition of Dark Gate is somewhat completed.
Nothing is finalized, all I know is that I'm going to make it.

As a note on ye spiders thread: you may bring in player characters from existing threads or play as a GIFTS, drop in or out however you please. The thread has no GM and will involve no dicerolling, and is arguably noncanon for-fun type stuff and thus won't interfere with (or derail into rampant derpery) any existing threads or events.
