The strange group traveled quickly through the night, the full moon lighting their way. It isn't long before Eva sees the smokestacks of the Badarian factories up ahead, towering over the trees, and soon the forest breaks to reveal the first few buildings of the town. Her companions, silent up until now, seem agitated. Gleep and Gloop have been traveling in back, while Bob takes the front and Domon stays next to her. He quietly whispers; "There are demons about... Look there, in that house." and points to one of the nearby houses, a large stone one with several open windows.

Perception: Failure

But Eva is unable to see what he is pointing out in the dark. Luckily, dawn is only a few moments away, and she can see twilight off in the East.

Eva felt annoyed for not being able to see the demon, or demons, that Demon was trying to point out. It really was too dark for her to make out anything, no matter how hard she strained her eyes to see. It didn't really matter though. Dawn was almost upon them. Once it was morning Eva would be able to make out things in the distance a lot better. Then she could see any demon that was hiding in whatever house.

As Eva stood still and silently next to Demon she wondered something. Would the group be attacking the demons in the house that Demon had pointed out? Eva figured she would ask about it, although as quietly as she could. " Hey, Demon..." Eva whispered out to her companion, " When dawn comes, will we be attacking whatever is in the house?" Eva was nervous about attacking any demon, however glancing over to big Bob who was on her side made the girl feel a lot more confident about going into a battle.

Domon responds to her question with a nod, saying; "They are stronger at night, while we find our strength in the daylight. These ones are particularly dangerous, for they know well the art of stealth. They have a mage with them as well, I can sense him. Be on your guard."

A few minutes later, dawn broke, revealing to Eva just how devastated the house was. All of its doors and windows were shattered, and it was about four stories tall. Bob grunted, and started forward, ready to face the invading demons.

( Thank goodness too. I hope he isn't slaughtered early on. )

Eva nodded her head to Domon when he told her to stay on her guard. The girl inhaled through her nostrils deeply, then let and exhaled out. She had a feeling this battle would be fierce one. Mages were far from harmless and even during the day demon's were a force to be reckoned with. Eva knew her foes were strong, but she wasn't harmless herself. She had been trained by her father, a powerful knight, and had already made it this far. With her new companions there she was sure she'd come out of this battle alive and well.

When dawn broke and everyone began to move out Eva reached out to her swords handle and grasped it with her right hand. She drew out her claymore out of its sheath, the blade gleamed a bit in the sunlight as it came out. Holding it firmly Eva walked alone side Domon. As the girl walked with her leader she thought to ask him something, something that could really help the fight that would soon take place in the destroyed house.

" Domon..." Eva started to speak, talking quietly so no demon would hear, " Do you have any advice for demon killing?"

To her question, Domon actually gives a quick laugh, and says; "Stabbing them generally works. As fire, slashing, or stomping, if you ask Bob. They are living things, warped and twisted perhaps, but they bleed like you or I. My only piece of advice is to guard well your mind." And turns back toward the house. Bob is already practically inside, and Gleep and Gloop are right behind him, chattering excitedly.

The house is empty when she enters it, and Bob is standing in the middle of the entrance room, looking around.

Perception: Success.

Eva catches movement out of the corner of her eye, and when she focuses she finds that a demon is sneaking up behind Bob, unknown to the mighty troll. Several others creep along behind it, but their forms blend together and Eva is unable to give a proper count.

Eva's eyes went wide as she let out a silent gasp, her right hand gripped her claymore tightly as her left balled into a fist. The look of urgency filled her blue eyes as she seemed to shake a bit, " Bob, behind you!" Eva yelled this to the big troll as she suddenly charged in with her blade ready. Eva was heading straight for the demon about to ambush her companion, running straight for it. When Eva got close enough her blade was trusted outward right at the monsters chest area. Her eyes flashed a look of determination as her teeth gritted, hoping she hit and killed the demon with one powerful stab.

( Is it be alright to choose actions in the AWMBI fashion? )

(AWMBI fashion? So far you're doing just fine, as actions go.)

To-hit: 9 + 40 + 3 = 52 vs 28 = hit.
Damage: 10 + 8 + 3 = 21 damage.

Eva stabs the approaching beast in the chest, its skin discoloring so that it is no longer camouflaged, and Bob roars in anger. The demon on the other end of her blade is injured, but still alive as she retracts her sword. Its companions likewise appear, three of them, and her Fey allies prepare to engage the demons.

Eva cringed slightly as her blade went deep into the demons chest. The rookie quickly tugged on her swords handle as the blade came back out, hearing Bobs angry roar as she pulled her weapons blade out of the demons chest. Eva didn't waste any time as she quickly took a small step and slashed right at the demons throat, putting all her strength in the swing of the claymore.

Damage: 1 + 10 + 3 = 14 damage.

Evas slash easily decapitates the wounded demon, and it's three brethren rush to attack the knight, swiping at her with their claws.

To-hit: 5 + 24 = 29 vs 25 = hit.
To-hit: 7 + 24 = 31 vs 25 = hit.
To-hit: 2 + 24 = 26 vs 25 = hit.
Damage: 4 + 6 = 10 - 5 = 5 damage.
Damage: 4 + 6 = 10 - 5 = 5 damage.
Damage: 4 + 6 = 10 - 5 = 5 damage.

All three of the beasts connect, and Eva finds herself driven back in pain by the demons claws raking through her armor and skin. She can feel the wounds burning, and uncomfortable ideas of poisoned claws flit through her mind. Bob hammers at one of the creatures that had attacked Eva, enraged.

To-hit: 14 + 32 = 46 vs 28 = hit.
Damage: 7 + 16 = 23 damage.

His massive fist sends one of the demons careening into a wall. Gleep and Gloop chatter, and suddenly twin blue bolts rush past Eva.

To-hit: 20 + 20 = 40 = hit.
To-hit: 11 + 20 = 31 = hit.
Damage: 5 - 5 = 0
Damage: 5 - 5 = 0

The two bolts strike one of the demons, and Eva feels a sudden chill, but both demons seem to completely ignore it, causing the two Fey to chatter angrily. Domon voices rises above the rest, speaking a language Eva can't understand.

Casting: 6 + 11 + 8 + 4 = 29 vs 25 = Success.
Damage: 10 + 2 = 12 x 11 = 132 -5 = 127 damage.

And suddenly a bolt of lightning arcs past Eva, striking the two demons near her. their magic proofing is apparently not a match for the gruff warlocks power, and they both drop, incinerated. The only one left is the one which Bob had smashed into a wall.

As The sharp claws hit and ripped through her armor and skin Eva let a small cry out as she backed away from the demons in pain. She went back about four or five feet before going down on one knee, gripping her sword hilt tightly as she felt her wounds burning with pain. For some strange reason she had thoughts about the poison claws, however the blond girl's attention quickly went from what caused her wounds to Bob. She watched a bit amazed as she saw Bob pound one demon then smashed another into a wall. Her amazement only grew upon seeing two bolts of blue lightning go past her a hit one of the demons, causing really no effect. Eva was really amazed and impressed when she heard Domon speak some unfamiliar language, then saw the two demons fall as they were incinerated.

The sight of fey fighting demons was truly amazing, something unlike anything the apprentice had ever seen before. As Eva rested one hand over one of her painful wounds as she breathed a bit deeply, trying to relax herself a little. She didn't think to get up and help finish off the final demon, she knew that Bob would make quick work of it.

The demon against the wall is unable to rise before Bob plants one mighty foot on its chest and presses, and Eva hears the creatures ribcage crack under the weight after only a few seconds. It takes the demon only a minute or so to expire, and once it's dead Bob turns to Eva, and says; "Thank you, knightling. I would surely be gravely wounded had the beasts caught me off guard."

" It was my pleasure, Bob. " Eva said with a small smile as she stood back up, looking to the giant fey. The girl was happy she had managed to make herself useful by alerting her comrades and even managing to save one of from injury. She didn't really care that she had gotten a bit scathed up in the process. Eva suddenly thought of something. Demon had mentioned something about another magic user being in this house. Eva wondered where it was and if there were any demons with it.

" Do you think there are any more demons in here? " Eva started, speaking to her big comrade; "If there are, I'd bet they are with the mage Domon told be of..." Eva didn't think a mage would be too much of a threat if it was alone, especially after seeing Domons powerful magic. The girl bet Domon could wipe out the mage with ease by himself.

Domon replies; "Indeed, the mage is still somewhere nearby, and I don't doubt that some more of his kin remain in the house."

Eva turned to Domon and said; " Let us find him then. Ill try and keep an eye out for any more demons. " The girl had only seen the demons that were just killed by pure luck. She was going to pay a bit more attention now while Bob or whoever lead the everyone to where the Mage was...

Perception: Success.

Bob leads the way up the nearby flight of stairs, moving cautiously. They reach the first landing, Bob in front followed by Eva followed by the dumogi with Domon in back. It is once again Eva who spots movement out of the corner of her eye, down the hall and heading into a door on their left side.

Somehow, Eva had seen something once more. She was almost positive it was demons, and that they were sneaking into the room on the left side of all hall. Not wasting a moment Eva tapped on Bob's back a few times before whispering to her; " Bob, stop. Everyone, I saw demons head into the room on the left side of the hall. They must be planning to ambush us when we pass the door." After Eva gave them her message she stood still and quietly, hoping one of them came up with an idea of what to do about the situation.

Bob nods, and slowly advances toward the door. He stops before getting too near the edge, but within arms reach in case any demons decide to show themselves. He motions the others forward, and once they're in position, he rushes to the other side of the door Eva had indicated, hoping to draw the demons out. He is quite noisy about it, making sure they take notice. He stands, waiting and glancing around. After several tense minutes, it becomes apparent that the demons either aren't there or aren't going to come out.

( I was having some writers block when trying to write a post for this, didn't mean to take over two days to write a post up. Sorry.)

Eva felt confused and slightly frustrated that the demons hadn't taken the bait and come out. Perhaps the demons she had spotted going in weren't stupid and had expected a trap like this. Eva was tempted to go into the room herself to try and draw them out, although she was already a bit hurt herself and rushing in would likely just get her killed. Eva relzed a bit as she stood in her place; " They aren't coming out..." Eva whispered to her companions, " What should we do? " That last part was directed to Domon, their leader. Eva could only hope he had an idea. Whatever he decided to do now, she would go along with it.

(It's okay, I haven't had time to post for a few days anyway.)

Domon replies; "Give me a moment." And closes his eyes, concentrating. He opens them up after a second, and says; "They aren't in this building anymore, they must have climbed out a window or something. The mage and two other demons are outside, circling back around behind us."

" I see..." Eva started, " Should we charge after them or set some kind of trap?" She crossed her arms and leaned against the wall behind her, waiting for Domon's decision of what to do. Eva herself would rather set a trap up. Charging up after them could end badly, a trap would be a safer. Eva wondered if setting up an ambush like she thought the demons had been doing would be wise.
