The rain pattered against their hooded heads, coming down in a slow drizzle around them as Iris and her sister trudged along down the road. "At least it isn't too muddy..." Iris hears Luna grumble, her dark garbed friend having never been fond of the rain. Still, there wasn't much either of them could do about it, so on they marched.

They had heard rumors of demons in the area when they'd briefly stopped in the last town to buy food, but they'd discounted those tales out of hand. Demons and fairies were the stuff of legends after all, and in their wide travels neither had come across anything of the sort. Likely just daemons or wizards causing trouble, as it usually turned out to be when such rumors started.

Suddenly, Iris sees her friend stop walking and her head shoot up, staring at something in the forest that she hadn't seen or heard yet.

Hearing her companion grumble about the rain, she couldn't help but think about the worse rain storms the two had bared together. As she remissness she seemed to stop paying as much attention to Luna as she had been. That was until Iris saw her friend, or sister, suddenly stop in her muddy tracks. She stopped as well, confused at what the girl was doing. She noticed that Luna was looking at something, something that was in the forest. Curious and a bit worried about what she was looking at Iris spoke up, her voice but a whisper that only Luna could hear. " Hey, what's wrong Luna? What are you looking at? " Iris felt her right hand suddenly go under her cloak and grip the hilt of her katana, having a feeling that she might have to draw her blade out. It wasn't uncommon for thieves or wolves to be lurking in the forest, along with fey and other unpleasant things.

(I'm going with more or less the same, for now. Except add in a big black cloak.)

Stealth: Success.
To-hit: Automatic Success.

"Don't. Move. There's. A. Really. Big...." Is all Luna can say before Iris suddenly feels herself covered in some thick, sticky, white goo. The substance binds her legs to the ground and one of her arms to her side.

When the white and sticky goo suddenly covered her Iris trembled, the hand that had been resting on her sword's hilt tightening it's grip. She was about to resist and try and move away, out of the goo, however she remembered Luna's words. As tempted as she was, she didn't move. Iris remained still, hoping Luna this was what Luna wanted her to do. If she heard otherwise, Luna telling her to try and fight the substance, she would in a heartbeat.

"Spider!" Luna says, and Iris watches as her friend throws her hand forward and a tiny piece of black matter fling out from her hand, flying toward something Iris couldn't see.

To-hit: 12 + 26 = 38 vs 33 = hit.
Damage: 9 + 3 + 10 = 22 damage.

Iris hears a high pitched shriek from behind her, and Luna shouts; "Get the hell away from that thing Iris!"

Iris broke out of her confused and somewhat dazed state, blinking, as her mind grasped what was happening. Now that she had snapped back she ran, doing exactly what Luna shouted at her to do. Sprinting forward, she drew her weapon out of it's sheath. Stopping after she ran a very short distance she spun around, getting in a defensive stance as she looked back, trying to see the giant spider.

(You're stuck to the ground by webs, so you've got to make your escape roll first.)

Grapple: 20 + 48 + 3 = 71 vs 50 = Success.

Iris pulls herself free of the spiders sticky webbing and draws her blade, running to stand next to Luna and then turning around to see what had attacked her. She almost dropped her sword in a mix of revulsion and fear at the sight of the massive, black, hairy, spider which had covered her in its webbing. It was easily the size of a large dog, standing maybe four feet off the ground on its eight thick legs.

" Wh-what in the..." Iris said as she looked at the monster before her, having never seen something quite like it. Her and Luna and seen monsters before, although they hadn't ever seen a spider the size of a large dog before. Iris gripped the blade of her sword tighter, looking at it as she stood next to her sister. " It's... It's not that big. We can kill it. " Iris said confidently, getting into a defensive stance. She'd wait for it to strike first, not wanting to recklessly charge in unless the beast was stunned or something.

The spider is all too happy to see the pair standing next to each other, and shots another spray of thick webbing at them.

To-hit: 20 + 30 - 4 = 46 vs 38 = hit.
To-hit: 14 + 30 - 4 = 40 vs 28 = hit.

Iris and Luna don't react fast enough to avoid the spray, and find themselves stuck to the ground by the spiders webbing. And to each other.

" D-damn it! " Iris says as she is covered in the thick, sticky web with Luna. She quickly begins to struggle, trying to break out of the web. She had managed to break out last time, she was certain she could get out again. As she tried to break free of the sticky bonds, she swore to herself to that she would try and stab the spider as soon as she could.

Grapple: 10 + 20 = 30 vs 50 = Failure.

Iris has little trouble pulling herself free of the webbing, but Luna is not so lucky. Iris faces the massive spider as it begins to advance, though the demon doesn't attack yet.

Iris wasn't sure what to do, did she attack the spider or help Luna? She stood still as she thought, almost trembling, as she gripped the hilt of her sword. Then suddenly, Iris went to Luna's aid as she turned to her and began trying to free the girl from the sticky webs, trying to pull her out of the webs.

Iris manages to yank Luna free of the webbing just as the spider releases another shot of webbing.

To-hit: 12 + 30 - 4 = 38 vs 38 = hit.
To-hit: 11 + 30 - 4 = 37 vs 28 = hit.

And Iris and Luna once again find themselves covered in webbing. Luna, exasperated, says; "Just go kill the thing would you? I'll be fine."

" Yes sister..." Iris said, feeling embarrassed and a bit stupid at the results of her action. Once again she began to break out of the web, pulling herself out so she could go and stab the spider to death like she should of done much earlier.

Iris manages to pull herself free of the webs once again while Luna grumbles irritably to herself. The spider was within striking distance, but didn't yet try to attack Iris, and she can see a wound on it where Luna had hit it.

( Eh, they are like sisters, and best friends, that's why Iris might refer to Luna as "sister" even though they aren't. Is that alright with you?)

Without a moment of hesitation Iris attacked the spider that had been acting very annoying. Thrusting the blade of the katana, hoping to stab the spider near the area Luna's magic had hit it, Iris launched her attack. She hoped her blow killed it, or at least mortally wounded it.

(Fine by me, just needed to clarify it.)

To-hit: 6 + 46 + 3 = 55 vs 33 = hit.
Damage: 1 + 9 + 3 = 13 damage.

Iris sword sinks into the spiders flesh, and the creature gives a shriek of surprise as it falls, black ichor flowing from the wound.

From behind her, Iris hears Luna say; "Well, now that that's done, can you get me out of here? Much as I love being covered in sticky white stuff, and all."

" Yes, of course. " Iris replied as she pulled her weapon out of the spiders dead body, sheathing it shortly after. She walked over to Luna then, and began to help free her of the webs. " I wonder how much more web that thing could of spit out..." Iris mumbled to herself, silently impressed that the bug had managed to spit out as much as it already had.

"I'd rather not find out. I think I've had enough gooey white gunk covering me for one day. Though, I think you might want some more." Luna says as Iris frees her, and at the last bit she giggles before grabbing a section of the webbing and sticking it to Iris chest-piece. Unfortunately, Lunas hand is also still stuck to the webbing.

Iris frowned slightly at what Luna said and did. However, upon quickly seeing that Luna's hand was stuck to her chest-piece she couldn't help but start to laugh, " Your hand is stuck, isn't it?" she chuckled, amused. " Ill get you unstuck, again. " she said, taking hold of the girls wrist and pulling it, trying to get her hand off of her. Once her hand did get free Iris would motion Luna to continue walking, before she moved on down the forest trail.
