She studied the stony road as she traveled through the rain, the cloak she used to hide herself keeping her head and her strange hair mostly dry. She was curious as to how the humans had laid so much stone and got it to stay there, despite the elements. Idly clunking her staff against the ground as she walked, Enigmas train of thought led her to wonder where the humans had found all the stones, and then to where they had come from, and finally how the humans had moved them all to place them.

Her reverie is annoyingly disturbed, however, when a troll (of all things!) steps out of the woods and says; "Hey! What are you doing here, elf?"

Re: A Greater Mystery (Keylo)

(First time playing this type of character, let me know if it seems OOC in comparison to what the bio described.)

Humming to herself as she walked down the road, her mind could not help but wonder about the most curious things, given her eccentricity. After all, an open and well-used mind was the best thing to have, and even the smallest details deserved pondering...to her at the very least.

Stones, stones, stones laid about in such finery so... do wonder how they manage to stay in place with such dreadful weather...Maybe they were magical stones? Stones with enchantments that protected them against the elements? Where would you get stones like that anyway? Probably somewhere from the mountains back in Croalian. But then the real question is how were they mov-

So caught up was she in her thoughts, that she was scarcely aware of her surroundings until a bumbling troll came and disturbed her state of mind by calling out with a brutish (at least in her mind) and irritating voice: "Hey! What are you doing here, elf?"

Stopping in her tracks and shooting the troll an annoyed glare, Enigma curtly responded in a rather sharp tone:

"I believe sir, the question here is what business does your maladroit self have in disturbing the thoughts of a traveler who's minding their own business and going along their merry way? Honestly good sir, you should be more considerate and conscientious of your actions. "

With that said, she then attempted to continue along her way, slightly perturbed still with the disturbance to her thoughts caused by the troll.

(Lol. So far, she's about as I imagined her. Reminds me somewhat of Morrigan from Dragon Age.)

The trolls jaw hangs open in surprise at Enigmas rebuttal, apparently surprised at how she'd reacted. She is already several steps past him by the time he recovers, and says; "Forgive me, I just wanted to warn ye lass. This place is dangerous, and some have come who don't know."

The troll follows after her, apparently intent on getting its message across.

Re: A Greater Mystery (Keylo)

((Odd, from what I read on Morrigan Enigma shouldn't be anything close, asides from the sharp tounge. Then again, I haven't played Dragon Age so I can't really talk.))

"Apology accepted good sir, but please remember that a traveler such as I am always prepared for danger, or at least should unless I'm daft and stupid. There's honestly no real reason why you should be calling out warnings to anyone who passes by. Especially when they could be busy thinking about more important matters."

It was evident that the elven girl seemed to be more bothered about being interrupted still, rather than the potential danger of wandering into a town full of demons and other unpleasant things, given the tone and rapidity of her speech...

(That's what I found similar.)

"Errr... Right... I'll let you be on your way then miss. Good luck to you." The troll replies, and wanders back into the woods, letting Enigma go on her way.

It wasn't very long after this that Enigma is once again interrupted from her thoughts, though this time the source is a bit more insistent, in the form of a very angry looking wolf coming out of the woods and growling at her. It doesn't look like any wolf she'd ever seen though, strange lumps under its fur and odd fleshy protrusions in strange places cover the beast, and its eyes glow blood red.

Re: A Greater Mystery (Keylo)

Back on her merry way once again, Enigma's began wondering about the weather while humming a tune to herself, her mind leading her in odd directions as usual.

I wonder when this rain will let up? Rain is a dreadful thing after all. So wet
and so warm, only to leave you shivering and cold later on. Being cold and shivering isn't fun at all. Well for most people anyway, we always have our odd ducks here and there. Wonder how those odd ducks come about anyway? Maybe some chance or outrag-

It was then that the wolf made itself known to Enigma, who ceased her humming to stare at the strangely mutated creature.

Speaking of outrageous things...what could possibly have happened to that wretched thing? So fierce and angry...and lumpy at that.

Still keeping a reasonably calm demeanor, Enigma stood her ground, making a vague attempt to communicate with the beast.

"I don't suppose an mutt like you would be willing to let me pass without any incident? It'd make me ever so pleased if you turned you mangy tail the other way and left me in peace."

Despite saying this, Enigma had already lifted her staff slightly off the ground, should she need it for something else besides walking... After all, being scatterbrained and whimsical did not mean that she was a fool...

The wolf growled savagely at her and took a step toward her, letting Enigma know that the beast wasn't about to turn its mangy tail the other way and leave her in peace.

Re: A Greater Mystery (Keylo)

"Refuse to be reasoned with eh? Typical mutt. No wonder you're so mangy."

Well that didn't work. What else can I try? Canine-be-gone potion?... No forgot to bring those...a cat? None nearby. Whacking it with my staff? Ehh...could work, but I'd rather not. Might get something nasty on it. Well, its not as if I'd really care either way, but still, avoid violence when possible. That's my motto. Otherwise you make yourself into a barbarian. Intimidation then? Hmm... that does sound good.

Letting out a sigh, Enigma's eyes became downcast for a moment...before a dark aura began to emit from her, the excess aura forming up behind her into an certain enormous three-headed dog from legends. Raising her head to glare at the wolf with her now glowing red eyes, Enigma virtually snarled at the beast.

"Now then mutt, do you still insist on picking a fight with me? I can ensure you that it'll go badly for you. Very badly."

(Action: Cast Nightmare Image using "5" energy for the value of X.)

Spirit vs Spirit: 12 + 30 + 25 = 67 vs 2 + 6 = 8 == Enigma wins.

The wolf stops advancing as Enigma works her dark magic, and takes a few steps back, whimpering, before it turns tail and flees into the forest. Enigma is, once again, left alone.

Re: A Greater Mystery (Keylo)

(Erm... Overkill o_o;; Do I get exp for this though?)

Dispelling the image as she watched the dog flee with its tail between its legs, Enigma let out a breath of relief.

Well that worked...Big waste of energy though. Dumb mutt. Oh well, I'm still peppy enough to keep moving though. Worst case scenario I can take a nap somewhere after the rain stops... Speaking of which, when is that dumb rain going to stop? Being drenched like this is awful.

After having taken a small moment to catch her breath, Enigma was soon on her merry way along the road once again...

(Nope, but you get your energy back since there were no immediate encounters after the wolf.)

The drizzle doesn't let up as Enigma continues on, this time reaching the wide bridge across the river before being disturbed again. This time, however, it is only by the sound of the river beneath the bridge and the solid clunk of her staff hitting the heavy timbers of the bridge. Looking up, she had reached the edge of the town of Artmirst, the houses on the other side of the river looking abandoned and the streets, empty.

Re: A Greater Mystery (Keylo)

((Aww... Oh well.))

Oh my, deserted houses? Excellent! This means that there are demons here after all! Wonder what I'll meet? Some imps? A six foot tall burning humanoid? Some monstrosity that mortals have never beheld before?...

Thinking this to herself, Enigma began wandering towards the town, hoping to find one of the creatures she had come here to study.

Before she even reaches the other side of the bridge, a trio of small, green skinned humanoid creatures with fangs and spears come charging across the bridge toward her.

Re: A Greater Mystery (Keylo)

Despite having her advance halted by the small trio of humanoid creatures coming at her, Enigma remained largely unperturbed, if not a tad... amused.

Why look, a trio of little green savages, how cute. Reminds me of that pet goblin I had a while ago while experimenting with mind control potions. Hmmm...wish I had some now, would be nice to have a pet again. Then again... a pet demon is probably better.

A smile on her face as she saw the creatures get ever closer, it was then that the necromancer put her fingers to her lips while chanting a spell under her breath.

"Come, arise. Spirit of a warrior long past, I offer thee my soul and bind thee to my service. Come forth and decimate mine foes."

Then, as she finished her incantation, she let out a long and sharp whistle to finalize her spell...

((Call Greater Spirit.))

A revenant rises to her call, the spiritual remains of a warrior long past. He stands dressed in plate armor, including a helmet that hides his face completely, and holding a ghostly greatsword in his hands. He solidifies as he appears, and the goblins halt as they see a knight form before their eyes, and the knight faces enigma for a moment, before saying a distant, lifeless voice; "Decimate means to divide by ten. There's only three of them, so technically I could take my pay and go without slaying a one of the little beasts. I'll let you slide just this once, but you really do need to be specific when offering up pieces of your soul, deary." The knight, which Enigma now realizes is the spirit of a woman, turns away from her and toward the goblins, raising its greatsword.

Re: A Greater Mystery (Keylo)

Enigma was rather pleased at the results of her little spell, even if the spirit she summoned was a tad...annoying in a sense. Annoyingly correct, but nonetheless a tad annoying. Fortunately, as Enigma was in a good mood due to being so close to her destination, she avoided an overly tart response (which she often made when others pointed out her faults)... which was probably for the best overall.

"Mmmm? Is that so? And here I thought it meant to destroy theseadays. Ah well, guess I'll simply have you spirits erase all life within fifty feet of me next time around."

That said, Enigma seemed to be content to let the spirit work, remaining relatively immobile a distance away.

The knight-spirit gets right to work on the goblins, though she does shoot; "But that would include yourself then, wouldn't it?" Over her ghostly shoulder as she strikes at the first of the demons.

To-hit: 16 + 40 = 56 vs 15 = hit.
Damage: 2 + 10 + 12 = 24 damage.

The knights ghostly sword strikes the first goblin, which erupts in blood and falls dead immediately, its armor offering it no protection at all. The other creatures strike at it, but their weapons pass right through the spiritual being, doing no harm.

"I'd add an addendum to the end of course, not exactly ready to pass on yet anyway. At least without a good cup of tea nearby. Speaking of which... I could really go for some. Don't suppose those goblins would have some on them, spirit dear?"

Enigma lets out a slight yawn as she takes a seat and watches the spirit kill off the goblins, staff rested in her lap...

"Doubt it, judging by the smell. You never know though." The spirit replies, as it cuts at another of the goblins.

To-hit: 13 + 40 = 53 vs 15 = hit.
Damage: 2 + 10 + 12 = 24 damage.

The spirits blade cuts the goblin clean in half, the last demonic creature immediately turning away and running back across the bridge. It wasn't very fast, however, and Enigma didn't doubt that she or the spirit could kill it with ease before it escaped.

"Pity, guess I'll have to look elsewhere for my tea. Maybe see if any would be adventurer or treasure hunter has some. That can wait though, be a dear and finish the last greenie off would you? I'd appreciate it ever so much."

Enigma lets out a yawn of sorts, still opting to let the spirit do the work...
