Re: Games Discussion Thread

Here's a thought... Maybe the companies should start distributing ROMs themselves against a minor fee.
In a perfect world.......But really what is Nintendo, or SEGA loosing if I download a rom, that in real life, the cartridge would only cost me $0.50-$2.00, I highly doubt they receive profit from that anyways. Besides game companies already rip us off today with DLC.

Are there actual zombies this time? I miss killing zombies.
At this point, I don't give two shits if they are zombies, or plagued villager/terrorists, I just want the damn game to be scary again.

They are zombie-ish. Defidentally some kind of fucked up creature to be sure. If i could say what monsters they remind me of most, would be those bloody meat bags of shambling creatures from silent hill. When they die, they kinda melt into the floor and leave behind organs and shit. But yes, for the most part, its VERY reminiscent of the older Resident evil games.

Damn, kind of want a DS now. But I can't pay for another goddamn gaming console. Maybe if it wasn't so close to the price of an actual console, but fuck, $200 is alot of dough for something with maybe 5-10 games I want to play.

Unfortuantely, the DS is the hardest thing to emulate too. Guess this will just have to go in the list of games I'll never get to play.

200? Did the PSP vita get a price cut without my knowing? Because the 3DS is only 169.

Oh silly me, I forgot to mention I'm spending that last $13 on gas or postage to get it.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

eh, I've got more important things to spend my money on. Like classes, I might be a pathological underachiever, but I'm trying to improve my situation.

Anyway, I've been playing order of ecclesia lately and must say I'm very impressed. I'm still not fond of a quest system involving randomly dropped items, but most of the time they don't take too long to get.

I had feared combat would suffer from attacking's necessity of the MP bar but it refills fast enough that isn't a problem. Also it's pretty damn awesome getting to use sub-weapons and spells without having to worry about the MP bar's shitty regen like in past castlevanias.

They've done a decent job on the story so far. Giving you a reason for trekking to all the different locations on the world map.

Gold isn't hard to come by even early on, but items cost enough that you're not just clearing out the store on every trip.

The only thing I don't like is that all the enemies have too much HP for my taste. I often end up with little to no HP left because enemies just refuse to die quickly. But this is probably just on my end.

I just hope you're not a 100 percenter, or else some of the things in Ecclesia will drive you mad, or at least make you go 'wtf, how was I supposed to know that without checking a game guide?'

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Depends on the game, but I don't generally do that with castlevanias. I do check guides beforehand though, I hate missable items. I didn't check for FF12 and missed the goddamn genji gear, pissed me off so much.

The only way that could have any more Japanese win, is if it was made from Amaterasu.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Don't know if anybody has been following Mass Effect, but apparently the third installment, for PC only, will require EA's Origins, regardless of physical or digital copy. Here is the link for info: Personally, I do not fancy Origins one bit, mostly because of EA's attempt at stopping piracy with their DRM restrictions. I can understand their intent, but buying a game and only being allowed to install it for a limited number of times is just a scam in my own opinion. Hopefully Mass Effect 3 will not be subject to these restrictions since it is tied with Origins (I have no clue how Origins functions, hopefully similar and not too far behind Steam), but either way it is making me really leaning towards obtain the game through different means.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

WELL THEN. Looks like I'll be getting ME3 on console for sure, then, if I even get it at all. Can't get it on PC because ORIGIN hates my laptop for some reason. I'm also still pissed off at EA. They've become a shell of themselves, which is a shame, because I used to really like EA. Now they're all about keeping it in the black, and that's about it. Never mind other people's feelings, never mind your soul, just keep it in the black. BUSINESS AS USUAL.
