Re: Calgary, Alberta - Canada

Przemek could hear Helen mutter a curse under her breath at the latest info.

"Damn, your right. Somehow we have to make certain those people don't come across that thing. Unfortunately I'm not sure we can keep them out of there if they're already moving in. From what you've described though this creature doesn't sound like any known abnormal, which means it could be as John suggested earlier, a Cabal setup. Which also means it's engineered for only one purpose. That in turns means we can't really do anything for it even if we wanted to. However, we have to be careful about this. You said there was an explosion? Any idea what may have caused that, like a gas leak?"

Helen clearly had an idea in mind, but was seeming to flit between that and something else from the sound of her voice.

James had indeed noticed the facade, however chose not to call Dante out on it.

"Hmm, a demon from hell you say? Don't suppose you can elaborate on that, or shed any light as to how something like that could survive in ocean water? Agreed though, something large may have done this but I suspect we're missing something here. Something we can't tell from just a video."

Dante cracked a toothy smirk as James asked him to elaborate. "Contrary to popular belief, not all demons are fiery minions bathed in flames. Just the ones from the Fire Hell. I've seen several with the power over ice. More-so with power over electricity......" Dante trails off as he remembers back, his smirk turning into a regular smile as he chuckles lightly to himself. "Whatever the reason, demons exist, and they're about as varied and diverse as Humans are. Though this would be the first water demon I've encountered. Looking forward to fighting it."

I see, so you just swim around and talk to people? I think I'd get bored doing that. I read a lot of books, it helps me with my talking. Do you read books? Mikki asked, swimming down to inspect some of the coral on one of the natural-looking walls.

Przemek growled. It was a nearly animalistic growl, coming deep from his throat. A promise of pain. "Yeah, most likely. Came across some damaged pipes." He glanced at his companion again. "Perhaps the thing did it. It might be rather sturdy..." The ghoul sighed. This conversation was taking too long. "Listen, I'm heading downtown through the tunnels, hopefully I'll come up somewhere near home." He didn't want to mention the Sanctuary by name. "If you can arrange to have something capable of dealing with that thing waiting for me on the surface, I should be able to track it down and deal with it."

"I see. Perhaps your right, though it wouldn't make sense for one to do that and then not attack our sub. Perhaps an angered water elemental, although that as well doesn't make sense. Whatever did it, it's a massive blow to the mermaid species. There are very few of them left, which means a loss like this dangerously tilts them towards extinction."

John continued to stare at the screen, his face an unreadable mask while Dante and James continued to talk.

"No, afraid I can't. They'd get destroyed by the water if I tried to. No, I just swim around here and enjoy the fact I have a safe home to stay in."

There was a pause and then Helen answered.

"As soon as I've spoken to Sally and returned to transmit a reply to Chris I'll have John meet you at the old closed down rail yard. There still are a handful of Henry's weapons that haven't been remodified to stun only yet, those should be effective in killing that creature, although it may take several shots if it's as tough as you say. Good luck."

"Alright. I'll get there as soon as possible. Thanks, doc. See ya later." Przemek finished the conversation and hanged up, muttering various polish curses under his breath. It was a kind of litany he liked to recite before going on a particularly dangerous or painful mission. "And to think that this morning I was worried about being bored. F***." Letting out a sigh, he turned towards the woman he was with. "Well. Seems like it'd be best if we left the tunnels somewhere close to that closed down rail yard, not necessarily at the yard itself. You know any path leading there?" He asked, his face smooth. However, deep within he was starting to get excited. He rarely had a chance to play with something particularly powerful, and Henry's arms were always fun to play with. This was something he could look forward to.

That doesn't sound very fun at all... Mikki thinks back at the mermaid, trying very hard to think of a way to solve the whole 'getting wet destroys books' problem. After a moment, she thinks she hits on an idea. I know, we can set up a book outside the tank, like in that movie about abnormals! There was a merman, except he still had legs, and he read books like that, and had someone to turn the pages for him! What kind of stories do you like?

Re: Calgary, Alberta - Canada

Sally thought for a moment before replying.

"I don't know. I never tried really. Would be something new for ... Oh hello Helen. I don't like that look ..."

Helen nodded to Mikki and then spoke to Sally.

"I'm afraid the news isn't good."

Telepathically, she shot what she knew to Sally, who's mood once more changed to extremely sad.

"Tell Chris to go ahead Helen. We need to know what happened, and if this could potentially affect any more of my people. And ... tell him thank you for going."

"Alright, I will. Mikki, for now stay here with her. I'm sorry but there's more that needs to be attended to, Przemek has found an abnormal in the sewer systems that may be a Cabal construct."

With that she was gone, returning to John and the others to fill him in.

When Helen returned ad told him what was going on, John nodded.

"Very well, I will go. James, Dante ... I suppose I'll meet with you again shortly."

With that, he simply vanished as he teleported, lowering the shield before he did.

Thinking for a moment, she nodded to Przemek.

"Yeah, up that path there. If it hasn't been blocked off by that damn thing, we should be able to go topside just inside the old railyard itself, one of the maintainence sheds if I remember right. Hope that's close enough for you."

As they walked though, she seemed to be considering something. Finally she spoke.

"Well ... I suppose I ought to ... yeah ... Name is Amanda, just in case you know? Don't suppose you'll tell me yours?"

The ghoul considered the option before nodding. "Sounds good. I should be able to take care of myself from there. Let's go." He remained on guard as he moved, scanning the area with all of his senses. Przemek did not want to be ambushed by the bug while he had a civilian to take care of, even though he really wanted to kill something. His movements were swift and precise, but betrayed anger and predatory bloodlust, a longing to hunt down his prey and tear into it's flesh that he was holding back. 'Soon.' He promised himself as he kept moving. 'Soon it'll be only you and me, bugface... And whatever instrument of horrible death that John got ready for me.' The ghoul was snapped out of this morbid train of thought by Amanda, who finally introduced herself. Altough he still kept checking out the terrain subconsciously, he briefly wondered whether he could tell her his name before shrugging. "Przemek. I'm from Poland." Most of the natives around here weren't used to names like his, so he had a habit of clarifying where he came from.

Alec went quiet for a moment as he thouht about Henry's explanation.

"Not exactly human... what do you mean by 'not exactly'? Because if having a special ability of some kind makes you one of these 'abnormals' then, well..."

Alec holds up his hand and points his palm at the far end of the room. A beam of light like that of a torch begins shining out of it.

"That'd be why they came after me, I guess."

Re: Calgary, Alberta - Canada

Amanda nodded before she spoke again.

"Figured with a name like that you weren't from around here. Poland though, never been there. Been just about everywhere else though, I move around a lot. Been in town searching for someone I used to know a few years ago, and for my old teacher. Got a job here to tide me by until I find them, then after that, don't know what I'm going to do. That bug though freaks me out, so I doubt I'll stay around here if there's more of them. I've seen a lot of strange things but that one ... it's not natural."

Something might click with Przemek as she finished her sentence, something that would tell him there was something she wasn't saying about herself, or that she was uncertain of something about him. One thing was certain, she was choosing her words quite carefully, as if she wasn't certain she could trust him with something she was considering sharing?

Henry nodded.

"Well like some abnormals are way not human, we've seen serpents and ... whoa ..."

He trailed off at the display.

"Now that's impressive. Yeah, that'd definitely be why. What exactly can you do with that?"

Dante points at where John used to be. "Does he always do that? Or is it just me being here?" he asks, a confused look on his face. Though, he did seem to turn his eyes back to the screen with the massacre on it. His mind started to spin, and he began going over the possible demons it could be. He even snorted at one of the ideas he had, then quickly regained his composure. "So. What are we going to do about that?"

" 'Elen!" Mikki said happily when Helen visited them. She grinned widely the entire time, floating on the surface of Sally's pool. She looked a bit confused at helen's orders though. " 'E makess me squiggly, but I can sstill 'elp. Ussed to 'elp all the time back in 'awsshington..." She said, but Helen was already gone.

Shrugging awkwardly in the water, Mikki spun herself around to Sally and started thinking at her again. Okay, books. They have all sorts here. Most are to teach you stuff, but some are just stories. Helen says what happens in them wasn't actually real, and you're supposed to read them for fun. I have a bunch of those ones in my room. Want me to go get you one?

Re: Calgary, Alberta - Canada

Przemek raised an eyebrow as he glanced at Amanda. Her story was rather vague and sounded like something out of a book or a movie. He instinctively picked up the various signs she was making as she spoke - body language, perspiration and scent. There was more to this than she let on - there was a certain lack of trust on her part. Was it because she suspected him to be unnatural as well? Or was she merely uncomfortable with sharing more? Perhaps he should investigate this later. For now, he just shrugged and replied, showing no hints of noticing how carefully she picked her words. "I don't think there's more. But I guess this might be not the safest place. I wouldn't mind helping you with your search, but frankly, I'm not sure if I'd be able to help you find those two. It sounds like they've been gone for quite a while, and besides, I'm not sure if I'd be able to find enough time to search." It wasn't completely a lie, but not exactly true either.

Re: Calgary, Alberta - Canada

Sally was silent for a long while before replying.

"I suppose. Probably would be good to distract myself. I ... I'm in shock right now to be honest with you. Tell me Mikki ... how close are you with your own people?"

James shrugged.

"John has his own ways, I doubt it has anything to do with you. I suppose when one can teleport and has done so for close to a hundred years you don't really think about how others might view it."

Amanda let loose a sigh of relief.

"I hope your right about there not being any more. I just have this terrible image of walking into a nest of the things ..."

She shuddered, very clearly not liking some form of mental image that had come to mind. After a moment, she looked at him, then shrugged.

"I'm sorry I was just trying to find a way to get my mind off that ... thing. But yeah, it's been ... Oh god, I don't know, twenty years since I saw my teacher and about six since ... Well ... I honestly don't know what to call my relationship with him. I suppose at one time I could have called him a ..."

She stopped, blushing lightly.

"Sorry, you probably don't care, and here I am just rambling on."

Sighing, she dropped silent for a few moments, walking with him in silence. Then, very abruptly, she spoke.

"So ... when we get topside ... your just letting me leave on my own? I'm sorry it's just ... after me seeing that thing back there and the semi-secret call you made ... I get the impression you can't just let me walk away."

Przemek would be able to tell by her scent now that she was partially being truthful with her question, but it was laced with a definite air of inquisition. She definitely was hiding something, and it was clear she wasn't certain she could trust him. From her body language, it was fairly clear she was expecting to have to fight to leave.

Mikki nodded and smiled, beginning to climb up out of the pool. She turned back around to answer Sally's question once she climbed out. Long ways away, I think. Last time I was told, there was my bond-mate in Seattle, and all the rest of my tribe are back in the trees, in Washington. Helen showed me a map once, but I don't know how far away it is, really. She explained with a small shrug, obviously not understanding the question properly. I'll go get you a book now. She adds on, then turns around and starts for the door back to the halls.

Dante sighs as he shrugs, then crosses his arms over his chest. "I just hope he doesn't decide to do that around me too much. I hate teleporters. No offense intended to him, of course." Dante says, then turns to face James. "So. What are we going to do about that? Stand around here talking? I was kind of hoping to see what did all that for myself." he says, curiosity apparent in his voice.

James shook his head.

"We already have a team out there as we speak. Once they determine what we're facing we'll go from there. Oh, and you won't like Chris too much when you meet him, he teleports as well, albeit not usually near people. He seems to prefer to keep people guessing about that, and not show it off."

As Mikki walked, she might remember the Library was on the third floor, so she had a small walk ahead of her.

"It's not that I dislike the person for being a teleporter. It's the fact that they could show up behind me at any minute. Quite a few demons I've dealt with teleported. One of them left a nasty gash on my backside." Dante says, remembering back to some of his fights. "Suffice it to say, I get jumpy around teleporters. Though you won't actually see it." he says, his sword on his back quivering slightly as he taps his right foot on the ground. "And actually, now that I think of it, it is better to go into a fight prepared than charge blindly. Though I normally go with the latter."

The beam fades away as Alec lowers his hand.

"I control heat and light. I think I manpiulate photons, in which case there's all sorts of other stuff I could theoretically do with it. I've never quite gotten the hang of anything else though."
