Re: Calgary, Alberta - Canada

The ghoul frowned as he noticed Amanda slow down. When she stopped, Przemek turned his head towards her, but refrained from speaking once he saw her smirk. Upon hearing her question, he raised one eyebrow before smirking as well. 'I can see where you're going with this little idea of yours and I like that direction.' "Good question." His face settled into a more contemplative look. "His carapace will probably provide some resistance, and we can't tell how much power will be necessary to blast through it... However, I doubt it's flesh is capable of safely absorbing electricity. As far as I know, the only living creatures who have some kind of resistance to electricity are those who utilize it. And I really doubt this one has such ability." Przemek adopted a serious look as he turned his attention back to the girl. "What do you have in mind?"

Another grin as Amanda replied, "Well, there is an old power sub yard up here, and they left a lot of the cables exposed. The generators they have in there still should work since the workers were too lazy to actually properly shut the place down when they left. City officials still haven't come up this way to take care of it. Now if I remember my energy output ratios correctly, I think that if we turn them on we ought to be able to generate enough of a surge to knock that sucker out, if not kill it. The only drawback to it is we'll have to get it close enough to the cables somehow, and once the charge is complete, I'm pretty sure those generators are going to be toast. Then again, not really our problem that they were left like that, hmm?"

"Sure why not. Definitely better than anything else I could think of right now."

Sally moved as close as she could to the edge of the glass, waiting for Mikki.

James chuckled at Dante.

"If things go south it'll be either because Nikola caused them to, or he'll end up ripping it apart while complaining it was too easy."

Helen just shook her head, laughing, but said nothing.

"Well..." The ghoul considered the idea. It was a hit-or-miss kind of plan, but it could work. Still, there was one thing he didn't like about it. "It's not a bad idea. Though to be entirely honest..." He looked at Amanda and sighed. "I'd rather get you out of her before opening bug hunting season. I don't really mind if I lose a limb or two, since I can grow them back..." 'Granted, it takes weeks, and it's very unpleasant.' "But I get the feeling you're better off if you clear the place as soon as possible. Besides, I need to meet up with John and pick up the weapon he's got for me. If the generators won't work, one of Henry's toys should do the job." He scratched the bridge of his nose. "No offence. But I'd rather not worry about someone else while fighting. It tends to distract people, and I know that there was at least one other abnormal living somewhere underground. That one was... Relatively peaceful, but I can't say there aren't more and that they aren't dangerous."

Dante laughs once, then places his left hand on his forehead as he shakes it back and forth "Good thing I decided to join you guys. I might have had a real challenge." he says, still grinning as he does so. "Though a good fight does do wonders for the body and soul." he says, his gaze fixing on Helen "So, any news on all that jazz over in the sea?"

Alec looks a little relieved, but once again starts thinking back to the events back in England.

"Hmm... he mentioned poison as well. I suggested sending her to hospital but he said there were 'venoms the general public wasn't aware of'. I think that's all I've got."

Mikki nods and grins, setting the book down on the stand and opening it to the first page. She carefully places her fingers so she could hold it open without blocking the words, and sits down beside it, leaning her back against the glass and opening her own book in her lap. She half turns to look at Sally once more before starting her own reading.
Okay, you let me know when to turn the page. She tells the mermaid, then turns back around and buries her face in her own book.

Re: Calgary, Alberta - Canada

Amanda nodded slowly.

"Alright but at least let me help you get the substation back up and running. It would go faster with two people working on it I'm sure."

By now they were nearing the surface, and they could feel a breeze wash over them.

"I have to say, I have a feeling I'm going to be seeing a lot of you for a while until we figure out what the hell the Cabal are hunting us down for. Could be ...."

As they reached the top of the tunnel, she trailed off with a gasp, stepping back into Przemek, blocking his view for a moment. He could sense though that her body had tensed, and she had turned pale white as she staggered backward. When she stepped behind him, mostly out of instinct, he could see what had shaken her so badly.

There, near the tunnel entry point, scattered across the ground were the remains of at least thirty half torn apart humans. Upon a closer look, Przemek would find they all bore the symbol of the Cabal upon them. Something had ripped apart a good number of their soldiers, and from the blood around them, it hadn't been very long ago.

Helen shook her head.

"No, I'm afraid not. I suspect it will take Chris and the others a fair amount of time to actually make any headway. Autopsies are usually like that."

Henry paused for a moment before replying.

"Hmm, ok that gives me something to search for then. They aren't above using the poisons of some abnormals to get what they want. It's not a very strong one or she'd already be dead, so that limits the number that possibly could be used. That'll show in the blood work which ought to be done soon."

After a few minutes the reply came to Mikki.

"Alright, go ahead."

Mikki looked up from her own booklong enough to change the pages and reset her fingers, being extra careful not to tear the pages. She smiled over at Sally, and started back on her own book again.

((Feel free to not respong again until Mikki is needed for something, I got lots of stuff to keep me busy right now.))

Re: Calgary, Alberta - Canada

Przemek sighed. "Fine. It'll be faster..." He had to admit that Amanda had a point. She probably knew more about the substation than he did. However, that was as far as he was willing to relent. As soon as the power station was running, he would get the girl out of there. Fortunately, it seemed they've managed to find the exit. He could already feel the breeze... The ghoul frowned. Something was in the air. Something he vaguely recognized. The sensation nearly caused him to miss what Amanda was saying, but it didn't matter. Before the girl managed to finish her sentence, she stopped, then began to retreat. He already knew why. The scent of blood hung in the air, still somewhat fresh and palpable. Taking a look at the bodies, he recognized them. Cabal. So the bug really was theirs. And from the looks of it, they have failed to contain it. That creature was far too dangerous to be left alive. The abnormal tensed, readying himself for a fight, scanning the area for scents or other signs of it. But first, he had to deal with Amanda. Turning around, he faced the girl. "Listen. We have to move, now. I'll get you out of here." They couldn't linger in this place. The risk of attack was far too high, and without a weapon, the ghoul's chances of victory didn't look good.

Nodding, she moved forward with him, then out of impulse bent down and grabbed one of the machine pistols from a body. Walking a couple steps more, she heaved the thing down in disgust.

"Empty. Fifty round mag and it's EMPTY?"

Grumbling she continued to move where the Ghoul wanted to, but after a few moments she spoke, this time with worry in her voice.

"Przemek ... I don't know about you but ... I don't know that we have time to wait for Ja .. I mean John to get here. If that thing finds us before he arrives ... we're sitting ducks."

Przemek frowned, inhaling. He tried to detect a scent of inhuman blood. He hoped he'd find a trace - otherwise, it was more than likely that this thing was bulletproof. "You're right. Let's get out of here. I don't think it'll follow us to populated areas - it seemed to abandon pursuit last time when I ran towards the entrance I used. I'll call John in the meantime." The ghoul hoped this thing killed those Cabal soldiers before retreating underground... Maybe it disliked light? Once again on full alert, he led the way, taking a course towards the city. As he walked, he pulled out his cellphone, dialing John's number. 'Come on, Jacky, pick it up...'

For a moment, nothing, and then suddenly there it was. A smell that might be blood in the air, right about the same time Amanda spoke.

"Is that ... green blood?"

Grabbing a stick she poked at it, then jumped back when the stick literally dissolved.

"Oh wonderful. It's blood, assuming that's the bugs, is acidic. Just fucking peachy."

John chose that exact moment to answer his phone as well.

"Yes Przemek? If your asking where I am, I'm on the North side of what appears to be a substation yard. Had to deal with a few uninvited guests, if you catch my meaning."

Re: Calgary, Alberta - Canada

Altough acidic blood caused a lot of problems, Przemek was actually glad he could see it. This meant the bug wasn't as tough as he feared. Before he could comment, however, John picked up his phone. "Lovely. Listen John, I just left the tunnels, so I shouldn't be too far away... The problem is, I've found someone who needs to be evacuated to the Sanctuary ASAP. On top of that..." The ghoul glanced at the various corpses littering the place. "I've found some guests too... About thirty. And mister buggy got to them first. It ain't looking pretty. I'll try to get both of us to that substation, we'll meet up there. Clear the area if you can. And John, I hope you brought something lethal with you." Lowering his phone for a bit, Przemek turned to Amanda. "John's north of the substation. Shall we go there?"

"Very well. I'll meet you there then."

Amanda didn't hesitate for one second.

"Let's get there as fast as we can. I don't particularly want to be dissected by that damn thing."

"Got it." Przemek once again turned his attention to the phone. "See ya, man." Hanging up, he put the device back into his pocket. "Let's move. John ran into some resistance, but likely got rid of it already. I doubt there'll be anyone left waiting for us save for him, but we should watch out. Lead the way." The ghoul wasn't particularly familiar with the area. He relied on Amanda in this regard. In exchange, he could focus his senses on scanning for danger, in case some remnants of the Cabal squad or the bug were waiting out there somewhere. Even as he moved, he was on full alert, tense and ready to jump into the fray.

Re: Calgary, Alberta - Canada

Nodding, Amanda took off with her companion not far behind.

They were nearing the meeting spot when Przemek suddenly got a strange feeling something wasn't right. Before he could say anything though, there was a click noise, and instantly Amanda started to convulse, as an electrical hum filled the air.

After several seconds, the hum vanished, followed by a wisp of smoke coming from the ground, where upon inspection, the ghoul would find what was left of a well hidden electrical stun trap of Cabal design. By this time of course, Amanda had slumped to the ground. A quick check confirmed that she was still alive, just simply out cold. She'd probably wake up with a pounding headache, but she should be fine.

It was of course at that moment John chose to teleport in next to them, blinking as he saw the girl on the ground.

"Well Przemek. What have you got here?"

Re: Calgary, Alberta - Canada

Przemek moved silently, his hunter instincts kicking in. Fortunately, he detected no danger on the way. As they got near the meeting spot, he began to feel slightly better - perhaps he could get Amanda out of here before something happened after all. As soon as the thought appeared in his head, it was pushed out by an alarming sensation - alas, it was too late. The girl was already unconscious, though she wasn't harmed otherwise. The ghoul was highly irritated by this point. He had to deal with a lot of unpleasantness by this point, and now he failed to notice a simple trap in time, even though he should have known that Cabal would booby-trap the area they were in. When he noticed movement to his side, he turned instantly, claws already streaking towards the person, stopping only when Przemek realized it was John. "A little distance next time, unless you want to get punctured. Get her to the Sanctuary, now. She needs to speak with Magnus. Oh, and tell Chris to pay this girl a visit too. I'll handle the bug, assuming you brought that weapon I was promised." He tried not to sound angry, without much success. He really wanted to disembowel something.

Re: Calgary, Alberta - Canada

John nodded.

"I did bring it, here. Henry says to warn you it may be small looking, but it's power is similar to what he referred to as a large overpowered Tesla coil. I believe it was something Nikola made given the name. As for Chris ... he's currently in Bermuda. He and two new residents went to check out Sally's visions, and found all of the ones that lived there were dead. They were conducting an autopsy on one of the bodies, and that's the last we've heard from them so far."

Handing Przemek the pistol like weapon, which had a faint glow to it, he bent down to check on the girl, then paused.

"Interesting. I know her, Helen will too. How did she get here though?"

Re: Calgary, Alberta - Canada

Przemek nodded, taking the weapon. Altough he already knew about the massacre, the news still made him feel... Sad. He liked Sally and he knew that she was probably in pain now. He also felt a surge of hot rage that nearly made his hands shake. Cooling himself down, he answered John's question, his tone calmer than before. "I'm not entirely sure. She was in town long enough to find a job, that's for sure. I've picked her up in the tunnels before the bug managed to start chewing on her. She came here looking for both doctor and Chris... Apparently, she and the other Montana subjects are targeted by Cabal now." The ghoul wondered whether he should mention he learned how Amanda met John, but decided against it. "You should probably hurry. I'm guessing she'll answer our questions when she wakes up."

John's head snapped around at the mention of the other subjects.

"That isn't good. I can confirm she is one of them, though she probably won't be too happy when she see's me. Though I don't know why she'd be looking for Chris. A thought though, this bug tried to kill her, and is likely what killed the Cabal soldiers here. Perhaps ... it isn't theirs?"
