Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

"Uh... I'm dunno, I'm not an expert on demons," Emily begins, replying to Siphon while keeping her eyes on the battle while trying to recall what she and Jonathan had seen. "Um... well... there were these kind of bug people things. The zombie things had odd clawed hands I guess, some kind of man-dog thing kind of like a werewolf I guess and some three headed dogs." Emily explains as what she had seen gradually comes back to her while her gaze never leaves the gargoyles. "I think that's it- WOAH!" Barely noticing Al charging towards the gargoyles Emily only manages to just jump out of his way, watching as the boy attacks the creatures.

Jonathan shivered. He saw a battle before, but that kind of massacre was something new. These monsters had no mercy at all, and their attacks were extremely brutal. Jonathan turned away from the sight, taking deep breaths to calm himself down. He wondered who that man was. Another person seeking... Whoever that guy they were chasing was? Someone completely unrelated? The young man suddenly realized that perhaps coming here without any kind of preparation was a big mistake.

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

Harrel looks from Siphon to the Gargoyles and back, "Puppet strings? Uh... well damn, I think... yeah there they are there." Harrel replies, seemingly only just noticing now that the ideas been put out. "Just like subtle strings. They're stretched thin out here, but I think they lead back to the place Emily just came back from."

"Ok. If these are constructs then if we're able to seize the source, that should make this a lot easier." Ellisia comments whilst watching the skies and the combat around her. Spotting Al collide with one gargoyle she shifts to one side, positioning her sword to impale the creature as the young man smashes it back.

"Yeah, if this is coming from..." Grace starts, but interrupted by Jackson swooping past riding another gargoyle. With the thing struggling hard and threatening to get some lift and pull up again, Grace decides to make sure it doesn't. Lunging out from her hiding spot by the tree trunk and grabbing it both hands by the ankle before it can get away. She's pulled off her feet, being dragged along a couple more meters, but proves enough to fully bring it down with a thump into the dry leaves. She quickly throws one faintly glowing hand forward, a triple set of circular yellow barriers forming along the gargoyles right arm, trapping it's arm firmly down against the forest floor. Scrambling forward on all fours she trys her best to hold its legs still, wrapping right round them together to stop them kicking. "Unnf! Gah, ah... I've got it! Kill it or something!" She grunts out, kicking at it's feet a little trying to keep the claws away from her mostly bare legs.

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

Siphon froze in place.

"Shit shit, that isn't good. Stopping the source won't stop them then if he's done what I think he has. Does anyone know what soul binding magic is?"

He briefly turned to Emily.

"Don't recognize anything but the werewolf and ... did you say three headed dogs? Fuck, a goddamn Cerebus? Jesus someone isn't playing around ..."

He finally noticed what was going on after Sho's yelp, but was caught in a position of being unable to do anything for fear of hurting his own friends. Growling softly, he circled about trying to find a better angle, or taunt one of the creatures away.

The first blow from Al seemed to only piss his opponent off even more, and it snapped it's fangs and claws at him, missing by mere inches due to horrific angle. Then, realizing it couldn't simply shake the young man off, it attempted to rise enough to fly him into the tree and smash him off.

Jackson had better luck with his opponent, managing to pin it as it struggled. After several moments, it began to glow a dangerously red color, it's body beginning to vibrate.

The ones Sho and Ian were working with were kept at bay for the moment, but they were becoming increasingly agitated, as evidenced by their random movements. If they watched long enough, it would seem like they were starting to formulate a plan somehow.

As Jonathan watched, the man who had been torn to shreds suddenly began to glow as one of the Succubi began doing something with glowing glyphs in the air. Soon, the man suddenly stood, his eyes a smoldering black and red in color, his teeth having sharpened and claws coming from his fingers. When he stood and moved, it was with inhuman agility and speed, but he clearly wasn't a vampire. Whatever he had become, it seemed he was now joining the ranks of the enemies out here.

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

(Notes: 2 destroyed, 1 pinned by Gr&Ja and turning red, 1 fighting Al, 3 in the air.)

"Whoa what the shit is it doing!?" Grace exclaims from her spot wrapped tight round the pinned gargoyles legs, now very uncertain whether she wanted to stay put much longer. She was mainly concerned it might be about to explode or something. "Jack, get off it's freaking out! I can hold it." Urgently said to the guy grappling it's torso as she rolls off, quickly extending her hand again from her place on the floor. Another triple set of yellow circular barriers form around both legs, intersecting and locking them both together, before seeming to shrink tight. Hoping that Jackson did as she asked she clambers half way up, getting on her knees and continues to pour a bit more energy into the binding barriers, reinforcing them to incredible strengths. As soon as Jackson was clear though, her real plan was to "bury" the thing. A Vasser coffin, some other mage families called it. She could perform everything but the stasis component, dimensional wrapping, final banishment and the permanency procedures, but that was hardly necessary in this case. The first stage would be a fully encasing rectangular box of force.

Ellisia continues to watch, cursing at missing the chance to help Al, and looking for another to deal with. She was highly concerned with what was going on with Grace and Jackson out the corner of her eye, but wasn't in a position to run over right now. Should any gargoyle swoop even remotely near her, she was prepared to surprise them with how high she could leap to cut them down. "Grace, you ok over there? What's it doing?" She calls over to her room mate checking if she was needed, all the while keeping her eyes on the remaining gargoyles, looking to predict their next target or course of action.

Harrel simply stays taking good cover, and not straying too far from the safe proximity of Ellisia, grumbling lightly as the fight goes on, "I hate combat..."

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

Jonathan's expression was grim. He watched the man rise up and move, clearly acting like some kind of monster. This is something he should have expected after seeing the undead, but now he was certain - every ally who fell in battle would reinforce the enemy ranks. This was probably the worst thing that could happen here.

Jonathan tried not to think about it, realizing that if he dwelled on bad predictions (like having to face, say, Emily as a zombie) he would end up too scared and useless. They could do this, right? But then again... Was anyone really prepared for whatever waited for them? He doubted it. His attention slowly diverting from observation, Jonathan began to assess his own thoughts and feelings on the operation he signed up for.

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

"Right, time to get in on the action," Emily mutters to herself more than to anyone else in particular. Spotting a gargoyle that had no one attacking it at the moment Emily runs in the direction the beast, and once has ran past it she sprints directly into the nearest tree. At the last second she plants a foot on the trunk of the tree and using her speed and momentum she runs along the length of the trunk. Those who are paying attention to the girl would notice foot-sized dents in the trunk, the bark that she stood on splintered and pieces even blackened and burnt. Once she is level with the gargoyle Emily launches herself in its direction, the sound of wood splintering and snapping can be heard, a sizeable chunk of tree has been blasted from where Emily had launched herself from. Her goal now is to hopefully grapple the gargoyle and pummel the ever loving hell out of it. What happens after then is beyond her train of thought at the moment.

Jackson was able to smash the things head into the ground at first before hearing Grace. He quickly rolled off of the thing and let Grace work her... magic he guessed. He watched Grace of a while, making sure she was able to handle the glowing bastard.

Jack looked about longing for the next thing he could help with. He say one of the gargoyles near Al trying to bring him airborne. With some quick thinking He clapped his hand together and and formed a small ball of magnetism. He then quickly throw it like Ryu or Ken would throw a fireball. As it made contacted it caused no damage what so ever but Jackson started to try pulling the beast to him. He still wasn't sure if it would work or not but it was time to find out.

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

((TY Squid, I had lost count))

Siphon had started to make a move to one of the hovering beasts, but paused at Elissia's words about one of the others. Sparing a glance over, his eyes widened with surprise.

"What in the hell ... "

By now the resonation of the beast had reached an audible hum, as it began to pulse faster and faster. Starting at the beast for a moment, Siphon suddenly knew what was about to happen, and didn't say a word, just moved.

One moment Grace and Jackson were standing. The next they had been virtually run over as Siphon moved in and pushed them both out of the way. Before anyone could say anything, the reason explained itself.

With a shuddering growl, the beast literally exploded with demonic energy, sending Siphon hurtling through the air, slamming him into a tree where a branch then proceeded to stick out of his chest, just below the rib cage. He lay there on said branch unmoving for the moment, making it unclear what the extent of damage was to him. What was clear was given the directional blast, was that he had just literally saved the two's lives from an explosive end. What was also clear was that at least that beast HADN'T been a construct, it had been real.

Emily got a tad more than she bargained for. As she slammed towards the gargoyle, it shifted ever so slightly to meet her incoming rush with the bulk of it's body, opening it's wings and reaching out as if to grasp her in an embrace. As soon as she hit, the wings closed around her with surprising force, and both she and her intended target began to plummet towards the ground, the thing looking her right in the eye with almost a look of 'gotcha' in it's eyes.

At the same time the explosion had occurred, Elissia got the opening she was looking for. One of the gargoyles, sensing that perhaps intended prey was going to be saved, made a sudden rush downward, breaking free of the powers that had been holding it. It hadn't seemed to notice she was in position to make a move, although if it had it wouldn't have cared, it assumed it's speed was far greater than that of it's seemingly human opponent.

Jackson discovered that his intended target seemed totally unfazed by this, although he did end up with a rather nasty looking rusted shovel piece coming at him that had been buried by leaves on the ground.

Out of the corner of his eye, Johnathan could see the newly transformed monster begin to stalk off back the way he had come with a handful of Succubi and the demon dog creatures. It seemed to be heading away from where he'd left the others, but could they possibly know? Or was there someone else out there that they had detected?

Emily let out a gasp of surprise as the beast caught her, then a growl of anger as she realised what it was trying to do. "Oh no you dont!" She spat at the gargoyle, her body quickly heating up, the air around her and the beast shimmering from the sudden rise in temperature until a moment later she burst into flames. Pulling one foot back the young girl thrust it as fast and as powerful as her augmented strength would allow into the monster hoping that the heat from the fire would force it to let go so she could boost herself away from the gargoyle. Failing that she'd hope the kick would hurt the gargoyle enough for it to let her go.

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

Seeing where the gargoyle was going, Ian just chuckled and focused his attention on the gargoyles that remained in the air, especially given the fact that Sho's worried cry was likely a good indication that her attention had been diverted from the beasts to Siphon. There were only two of them now, the others occupied. Focusing the bulk if his powers on one of them, he sought to drive it into the second while it was still disoriented.

Swooping away from the gargoyles, Sho practically drops to the ground in front of the tree with a grunt, the crouch she's in a sign that she's not paying much attention to anything but Siphon, given the force of the landing. She lets out a worried noise, looking at him covered in the gore of the exploding gargoyle, uncertain how much of the blood on him is his and whether or not he's even stirring. She lets out a bit of a whimper, looking to see if it's possible to get him down without doing more damage before his situation gets any worse.

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

Jonathan was slightly puzzled by the sight, but he quickly worked out what was probably happening. The demons probably determined that there were more people around here - with the help of their new soldier, no doubt. Perhaps he told them himself? There was a possibility that he was a scout, like Jonathan, sent out to inform the rest of his group. And those things hoped to claim the rest of them.

The darkling felt torn as he watched. If he let things as they were, more people could die. On the other hand, he had promised to stay and watch, and that squad was too big for him to handle. Physical attacks were useless against him, but those things had magic. On top of that, would he be able to damage them at all? If this second group couldn't handle it themselves, he'd be in the way. There was also the possibility that they were just scouting without having any knowledge about the enemy, so maybe there was no one to save... After all, he had no idea whether undead could talk. But the darkling felt this was just wishful thinking.

Jonathan pondered his chances. He couldn't stop those things... But maybe he'd be able to give a warning? Perhaps even forge an alliance? The opportunity was tempting, and his nerves were starting to slowly give in. Jonathan was capable of working under pressure - in fact, being a little annoyed was usually good for his concentration - but this was a bit too much. Acting on impulse, he switched to dark form and rushed forward, planning to move around the enemy camp to avoid detection, then get in front of the demons and find the other humans before anyone else did. He hoped he'd be fast enough...

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

Grace shrieks out as the speeding Siphon surges past and grabs her off her feet, then sent spinning to the ground with a loud grunt as the explosion blasts them all back. Face down in the dirt and leaves she tests that she can move and wastes no time in clambering up again grumbling as she goes, "Grrr, you big idiot I had it cover..." She begins sweeping her hair out of her face, her expression changing as she looks up to see Siphons state, "...Ohfuck. Uh..." She quickly looks round, spotting Jackson nearby, and then Sho swooping in, unsure of what to do. A bit further off she saw Emily collide with one of the beasts, and another making the mistake of swooping past Ellisia.

For a moment Ellisia doesn't seem to react, watching the gargoyle from the corner of her eye and it looking as if it may make it past her, before she suddenly leaps into the air toward it. In one lightning fast motion her sword glides through one of the creature's wings at the base, as she kicks her legs round going into a spin and bringing the blade back down through it's neck and down to below the armpit. The unearthly weapon severing both physical matter and spirit alike. Upon touching down again Ellisia gets a clear view of the scene resulting from the explosion. While greatly relieved to hear Grace grumbling and getting up relatively unharmed, Siphon's state looks more pressing. There was no immediate threat to that group at present though and she was better suited to continue fighting, so for now she moves to a position with potential to help Al or Emily if needed, hoping to end the fight quickly.

Harrel who has carefully managed to avoid any confrontation thus far, blinks, as a certain shadowy signature slips from his mind. 'Oh shit, where'd he go. Has he moved? Yeesh, my attention skips for a second and I've lost focus on him...' he thinks to himself as he hurriedly focuses his sixth sense trying to relocate the subtle trace he'd been keeping tabs on till now.

(Notes: 4 destroyed, 1 bombing with Emi, 2 in air being smashed by Ian.
Query/confirmation: Was the explosion a juicy red explosion as described in Copper's post, or was it a clean energy like one?)

([Edit] Cheers Bartnum. Fixed the notes to go with that.)

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

((AFAIK the one that Al was fighting flew away, so that was probably the one that Ellisia destroyed.))

Al growls in irritation as his opponent flies off and out of his reach. Flying enemies weren't a brilliant match for him. Which was a problem, seeing as the remaining 3 were all too high for him to reach.

Seeing one of them grab Emily and start to plummet, Al heads in that direction. Whether or not she could handle the situation (not that he would dream of doubting a Wingate's abilities), if the beast was heading for the ground then it would soon be in range of his attacks.

"And this time, you're not getting away."

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

Jackson cursed under his breath at not being able to feel the beast magnetized at all. He just wasted something he could have save for when it was really needed but he thought was quickly cut off as he was tossed to the ground quickly by Siphon.

"WHAT THE THE HELL MAN..." He yelled before he was cut off by the blast. Jackson on reflex pulled his arms in front of him to protect his face and chest. He felt something wet hit his forearms. As he drops his arm he saw it was blood... he quickly looked for the source only to see Siphon run through with the tree branch.

Jackson pushed himself to his feet but he look in shock at Siphon but didn't have time worry as it seemed something have been magnetized as he turned to see the what was flying at him. He reach out an hand and stop the shovel piece in midair before grabbing it.

Jackson looks back at Siphon for a moment before turning back and seeing the last two beast still airborne. He looked down to his hand and begins to force the shovel to mold it's self into some type to bladed throwing weapon. The rust was a problem as it would make what ever his made a lot easier to break and made him use more force to mold the damn thing but right now they NEEDED to get rid of the beast once and for all so they could help Siphon.

Not all to happy with the knife he was able to make, Jackson changed to a stance for throwing the thing. He watched the fight going on in the air and did his beast to track the only not disoriented and readied the knife to hit a wing if Ian couldn't drop it.

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

Emily got part of her wish to be let go, though not in the way she was likely expecting. With a terrible shriek, the gargoyle holding her exploded in a shower of heating ink, raining down everywhere. This however left her in a state of free fall, with the ground rapidly coming up to greet her. She'd survive the fall, though the question was what part of her body would she land on?

For the moment, it appeared that Siphon wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. It appeared that the only way they were going to get him down was by snapping off the branch in question from the trunk of the tree. Luckily, it wasn't a gigantic one, however it had seemed to go all the way through and down to almost the trunk itself when it had run through him.

Ian found that his tactic worked quite well, especially considering the fact the second beast had it's head focused elsewhere. Suddenly, it got blind-sided by it's ally, which triggered a mid-air fight between the two of them. For the moment, both were totally ignoring the rest of the group, seemingly pissed with each other.

It didn't take Jonathan long to skirt around the camp, however he lost some ground to the 'marching' demon band as they pressed deeper into the forested area. Soon enough however he had reached a small overlook, where he spotted an encampment of ...

It took him a moment to recognize the group there, however there was no mistaking it. The encampment of fifty or so men and women were all decked with weaponry and clothing consistent with the folks Siphon had fought previously. And they had no idea that a wave of demons unlike anything they would have ever seen was literally about to barge through their front door.

"Aww nuts..." Emily thinks to herself as the beast explodes, covering her in a black mess. Her attention is then drawn to her suddenly lonely descent, and without a companion to soften the landing she had to take matters into her own hands. Twisting midfall, Emily positions herself into a dive tucking her head in at the last second as she lands. The young girl performs an elegant roll before springing back up, launching several inches into the air once more before landing abruptly, her balance perfect. As it should be for a gymnast.

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

Jonathan stopped before making contact with the group, shifting to his human form. He wondered what to do. On one hand, he had to warn them to prevent them from being taken completely off guard. On the other hand, they were armed. They were likely dangerous, even if Siphon was capable of tearing through them like knife through paper. They had attacked the school, too, which was definitely a "bad guy" move. But...

Jonathan was willing to give them the benefit of doubt. Maybe they were dangerous, but they seemed to be going after demons... And let's face it, Siphon was a horrible monstrosity. Altough Jonathan was helping the group out, he was pretty damn sure that everyone would be better off without that man around. Especially since the current enemy was related to him... Jonathan refused to believe that this was merely a coincidence.

Sighing, the boy wondered how to warn the group. He didn't want to reveal himself, but he doubted he could afford such caution. Jonathan didn't want to be seen, but he had no idea how to get them on guard without showing himself. Merely throwing a stone or a stick wouldn't be enough to trigger a response big enough. If he tried to talk them, they probably would be suspicious... And they wouldn't let him get away too easily, especially if he transformed. They would immediately consider him an enemy...

Suddenly, an idea popped up in the darkling's mind. He didn't like it at all. It was reckless, risky, and quite possibly it could get him killed if he wasn't precise. Still, it was better than nothing, and it should get their attention. Shifting to dark form, Jonathan gathered about one kg of his mass, carefully drawing it from the transformed fat of his human form, then molded it into a hard, glass-like ball with liquid core. He coiled himself, changing shape into a makeshift catapult, then launched his payload into the camp, aiming at a random object - tent, table, crate, whatever he could find. Hopefully, they were paranoid enough to consider this an attack.

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

"Uh hey, someone, I think we need some help here." Grace calls to the rest, unsure of how to help Siphon. "We've got to get him down right?" She continues more quietly, gaze flicking over to Sho's worried face a few times before getting up to look at the branch hold in him there.

Ellisia looks to and from Siphon and the two remaining foes, and round the group. The gargoyles seemed under control now. Ian being able to stop either's ability to escape or attack anyone. Not seeing anyone else in the group she knew to be capable of precision branch cutting, she figured that she was as good as any. They'd have to resort to simpler and slightly rougher methods to get Siphon down. Quickly marching over the knight takes Grace's shoulder and guides her out of the way, before stepping to stand behind Siphon shoulder to shoulder. She studies the branch a second or two and then wraps her left arm round him and holds under his armpits, taking a bit of the weight off. "Shoni, I need you to help hold the branch steady. Ready Siphon? I'm afraid this might hurt a little friend." she says to him, holding her sword out wide to her right. With a sudden twirl of the wrist and a sharp swinging motion she brings the large blade down on the branch, severing it with a surprisingly clean cut, though the vibrations from the impact would still be felt through the branch.

Grace cringes visibly at the *thwack* sound, and watches as the other two help ease him down to his feet. Then finding another hand turning up on her shoulder as Harrel stops behind her, having come over to talk to Ellisia. "Possible problem. I've lost John. He was staying put up till now and nothing moved towards him, but I think he must have moved off somewhere because I lost sight of him and can't find him again. He's like trying to spot a black object in a dark room that one."

"Shit. We really can't stay here much longer."

Re: Mainland (Rescue Isabella Event)

Given that the gargoyles are fighting between themselves, Ian leaves them be for the time being, though he's perfectly willing and ready to pull the two of them down and into range of, say, anyone there capable of pounding the things into pulp and gush like what happened before. In fact, he'll call out a "Who wants one?" to the crew on the ground.

Sho swallows hard and nods, taking her cues from Ellisia. She looks pale but she's still up on her feet and it's clear that she'll likely force herself calm for Siphon's sake. She blurts out a bit of a chuckle as they get him down on the ground.

"Just be careful if this gets pulled out. He might wake up in a foul mood." There's a touch of mania to her quip, but other than that, she's holding together fairly well, at least for now.
