Re: Tentacle-tan and the Wisp's Cure

I check back daily, nothing changes.

I stop checking for a bit and ALL HELL BREAKS LOSE!

Normally I avoid such things but please people, this thread's purpose is the development of a game. This particular game may or may not work but more may come from it in the future (I've seen some nice artwork and ideas). So please, no bashing the idea person (storyline writer) or the G.M. person (artist/programmer).

Also Nico/Kara if you don't hear from me and you're making progress be sure to send me a message so I know to check in.

I only recommend using MS Paint if you are making old school sprites like I do.

And yes, I'm still working on my game.

That's pretty good. Especially since I'm assuming it's a first draft. As for the hair and eye colour question. The eyes were supposed to be either one eye blue and one eye green or purple. Hair colour was pretty much just said... "Should be exotic"

Re: Tentacle-tan and the Wisp's Cure

Not too shabby.

I recommend using photoshop for drawing.

As for the picture itself here is my thoughts.

Originally before it was colored I thought it looked to amaterish to be an actual sprite.

However, After looking at it colored (call me crazy) it seems to have a unique style to it.

I actually like it the way it is right now. The drawing style kinda reminds me of scribblenauts or something. The trick would be to have it animated in the same style where the lines move a little and it literary looks "drawn out".

If you want a traditional look you will need more practice. If you want to do something new and unique. I dare say that the game may actually look cool if its entire world was drawn in that style.

You may have something going there. (Picture saved for future reference and/or experimentation)

Edit: Ive searched the internets looking for a good example of the art style I'm talking about. This was the best I could find, sorry.

I don't know what they call that style of animation where all the lines move and it looks drawn-out but if you could animate in that way ( I imagine it wouldn't bee too hard) I think it would make for a very unique looking game... Which would be nice because all H games look the same nowadays...).

Yea i think the sprite would be way too big for me(I have a 25 inch monitor and at full screen it would take up close too 1 tenth of the screen 25%less would be perfect but that's just my opinion) but scaling it down can't be that hard other than that polish it up .

I like rydins idea sorta papermario/scribblenaughts meets hentai game it would be hilarious.

If i was making a game like this i would make it look like the paper is cut around it and hardcore cut out drawings on other cutout smex little drawings waddling for walking and moving slightly on the paper when they have smex they overlap making it look really cheap but funny and unique.

Re: Tentacle-tan and the Wisp's Cure

heres the funny thing, i have no idea of any programs to use for drawing sprites and i aimed to draw everything with paint. i thought thats what everybody else did. and since it will be a different styleof hentai, i am all for it.
and Rydin32... I REMEMBER SEEING THAT ANIMATIONS. I WAS ALL LIKE...WOOOOOOOOOW but the ending still gets me. she gave hime her arm. like..... why

also UrineOnU...... what? would that be considered a hentai game at all. it would be fun to make but i want to make something people can fap to (excuse mah ENGLISH!)

edit: small version.

im going to draw everything on the default setting in paint, then i will crop it after.
sound good? i want to do that so i wont fuck up the fluidity and consistancy of the sprites and their sizes.

Re: Tentacle-tan and the Wisp's Cure

In relation to that animation... She draws left handed so she gave him her right hand so they could draw again (Awwww...)

ANYWAYS back on topic. Sence we agree on the style so far (I love it), stick with paint.

And yes, Do all your drawing at the same scale and then edit it later.

I agree, we want it to be hot as opposed to hilarious.

I'm actually very interested in this style.

Prehaps your next step would be to trace her again the exact same size and pose. Sence your pencil marks will be a little different, when you animate the two images toghter (like an for a idle standing pose) Im thinking it will give it that sketched look we want.

Answering with assurance: "I don't know"
Wait... what?

Answering with uncertainty "I don't know"
Ohhh I see... Wait... WHAT?!

I'm kidding of course. I think its best if Kara herself answers those questions due to the fact that she was the one envisioning the game (also to prevent three different peoples ideas of what she should look like).

I almost lol'd at the convenient little answering guide.

***One more reminder to everyone currently working on sprites. I'm sure you all already know this but I just want to be sure. Do not the same color on your character that you used in the background. Its easily remedied but its also one more step that the programmer shouldn't have to deal with (Yes even in the concept art due to the fact that we still experiment with it). Also, When you do your animated sprites make sure they are in the form of a standard sprite sheet and that the images are spaced and scaled correctly.

***Nico, when drawing in paint, save your images as a Bitmap (.bmp) for now. Otherwise you're going to make things hard on yourself when it comes time to put your sprites together (Don't worry they eventually get converted into a .png format).

Re: Tentacle-tan and the Wisp's Cure

Hey now, it may seem like a lot but Nookie was asking fairly common questions of a commission. Its hard for him to grasp the idea that Kara doesn't really know what her character should look like. That is understandable and potentially frustrating to him. Most of the details that we do have about the main character were just made up on a whim and people said "Oohh I like that!". That being said I recommend drawing whatever you think looks best unless Kara decides otherwise.

On the other hand, I do have one concern for you Nookie. I was reading earlier posts and trying to catch up on details I may have missed (as well as any more game demos from Neko) when I noticed you said that you have never done animation before. That in itself is no problem since that majority of the team are new to what they are doing. However, you need to understand that the actual animation process is EXTREMELY long and time consuming. If you are working on other projects and/or get bored of doing the same thing over and over for months, you may want to reconsider. The running animation for my game (which only consists of 6 frames) took me an entire month of working (after college and homework) to get it to look fluid. That was only one motion for one character out of many to come.

I would recommend doing a quick line art and attempting to make a 2-4 frame, properly spaced, sprite sheet and see how that comes out. That way you have a little experience under your belt and you know where you stand.

EDIT: To all people currently working on sprite sheets, please remember that even when you are doing a different action (jumping, running, ect), the sprite frames still need to be the same size. If they are not the sprite will shift, usually resulting in Nico going "The main character keeps getting stuck!!! What did I do wrong?!?!" when in reality he did nothing wrong, it was just mismatched frames.

Re: Tentacle-tan and the Wisp's Cure

Answering the questions nookie put forward to the best of my ability. Although I gave Neko complete creative license on the possibly incorrect assumption that it would be easier to draw something he came up with the something I did.

Pubic hair: I was thinking something a long the lines of peach fuzz or clean shaven. Possibly an option to toggle between different levels of pubic hair.

Scars: No

Tentacle monster transformation: No

Fangs: No

Breasts: Small to medium. Artists discretion.

Aureola: Artists discretion and based on the breast size.

I have no idea what the next two questions are asking exactly... Although I think I have an idea...

Body type: Slim and possibly a bit on the scrawny side. Basically a weak and young looking girl. (Not too young though of course... No loli plz)

I was toying with the possibility of actually showing some of the items she gets on her person if not no real accessory planned maybe a bracelet or anklet just for a bit of an aesthetic feel.

Just for fun lets answer Urine's too...

Will she possessed by the devil? No
Will she be pregnant? No
Will she be breast feeding a baby and keep it in a backpack? No
Is she a drug addict? No
What color is her blood and her insides? Red
Will she have a retractable futa penis? No
Does she have Sexually transmitted diseases? No
How long does it take before she has to pee? Normal human times I guess
Does she have a yeast infection? No
Is she robotic? No
Will she have a demon tail and wings? Maybe in the second one *Wink*
Is she an elf? No
How old is she? 19
Does she have a qualified degree or education for her task? Life experience and 19 years of avoiding tentacles trying to rape her
Does she have an eating disorder? No
If she's robotic what type of oil does she use? N.A.
Does she shower regularly? Yes
Is she a furry? No
Is she cross eyed or have an lazy eye? No
Is she an amputee? No although number 2 will be much more brutal so maybe eventually...
What color is her eyebrows or are the shaved off? Are eyebrows normally the same colour as hair or are they usually brown/black? Because whichever is normal.
Whats her favorite thing to eat? Ice cream
Is she wearing makeup? Some lipstick and a little blush
Does she have an dandruff problem? She doesn't like to talk about it...

:D

Note the red, caps'd, underlined, and bolded words. Please be specific.

I still have no idea what color is her hair, skin, and the tentacle's color?

Okay, which eye is blue, left or right? What color is the other eye supposed be...make up your mind; is it green or purple or a mix of both?

I don't have a lot to do over the summer other than working on stuff for games, working at a part-time job, and doing other activities. Once the character design is finalized I can get started on animations.

Re: Tentacle-tan and the Wisp's Cure

Ah! That must be nice. I do college summer courses so there is no break for me.

If you have any questions or need some tips for animating feel free to ask.
I try to help by giving advice and trying to find/correct problems before they arise. I'm a 2d platformer game designer and I do everything from programming and level design to music and sound effects. So as I said before, feel free to ask if you come across any problems.

Re: Tentacle-tan and the Wisp's Cure

The ors were I haven't entirely decided yet... I'm still trying to decide what works best.

As for the two questions I'm going to go with flat and verted.

Also right eye is blue left eye is the purple one (Not facing her)

The tentacle is orange whenever I picture it

I see her with green hair with purple streaks...

and I'll say caucasian.

And if this isn't satisfactory too fucking bad stop rushing me.

Re: Tentacle-tan and the Wisp's Cure

idk some of the answers to some questions (like areola's....wtf is that anyway)

tina will look the way she looks as the sprite i drew (will edit just a little though)

and i also know that this will take a long time to complete and im sorry if i am slow since im new and balancing 2 jobs (no college courses, taking a break till fall, 1st year in college extremely hard/ need break)

also
@kara - with the different enemies, what should the tentacles color be and do you want Tina' arm tentacle to be orange

and (just as an idea) can one of the levels maybe final or nere end level, look computerized and digital. i just have an awesome song, and it sound 8bit
like but its epic and fast pase. i want to put that in the game.

and idk what other sonngs to look up but do you want to be in charge of the background music?

and @ rydin- thanx for being experienced because have of the stuff u said i do not know how to do. just an earl thanx for when i ask you countless questions.

lastly (thinks about the idea of pubic hair and the options to change to what u perfer, and then connects it to the more sprites i will have to draw)....... do we really need pubic hair. shaven is easier on the process
