Re: ranger Test Thread

"I'd like to know HOW to end something like that," Revalli replied in annoyance, "it's a spirit... I can blast her manifestation all day and it won't accomplish much." She turned to the stranger with a frown, mentally commanding her cat to return to her with the vines and their helpless captive on its back. "My... Apologies for the lack of manners earlier, I was... A bit flustered. Lets starts again, my name is Revalli." After introductions were made properly she turned to the recently arrive Vala and answered; "There is a... Spirit haunting the mill, and it carries a vendetta against Jensen for something that he did to it. Something awful, if its rage is any indication." Once the man was at their side, they might be able to get more information out of him.

Re: ranger Test Thread

Smiling faintly the stranger bowed and reintroduced herself as Kaiyi. With that out of the way she returned Vala's question finishing as Jensen made his appearance sobbing and blubbering like a baby. He was still bound to the cat who looked rather annoyed at his cargo. Vaguely Revalli felt the cat's desire to eat the annoying thing. Once free Vala took the man into custody quickly binding his arms with some rope. "Im sure my brother will want to hear anything he has to say." Heading for the Inn Revalli notice Kaiyi hesitate a moment before deciding to follow them. It seemed the situation had at lest peaked her interest. Once inside and clearing out anyone so they could have some privacy Vala got to questioning Jansen. Of course she seemed to be making little progress as the man just simply blubbered nearly refusing to talk.

Re: ranger Test Thread

Despite the amusement offered by the cat's desire to eat the broken down Jensen, Revalli would let it go back to the spirit world with its hunger unsated. Once they were in the tavern, Revalli would let Vala question him at first, but when it became clear that she wasn't making any progress she looked helplessly at Kaiyi. If the strange foreign woman had nothing to offer, the elf would sigh and walk up to Jensen, flicking him in the nose. "Oi! That ghost is trying to kill you! What do you think it's going to do to your soul if it succeeds next time?" she said imperiously, "tell us what you did! It might help us put her to rest before she can try again!"

Re: ranger Test Thread

Vala seemed at a loss in dealing with Jensen and by the look of it Kaiyi wasn't to interested either. Taking the matter into her own hands Revalli flicked the man's rather large and dripping nose and instantly regretted it. Still it seemed to get his attention especially as she spoke. At the mention of the spirit the poor man nearly fainted but a firm slap from an armored glove by Vala seemed to bring him back. "I I It was an accident I swear. She was playing on the ice and and fell threw. That thats all." Than man was sniffling and blubbering again. Seeing Kaiyi's shadow shift caught her attention. Looking to the foreign woman Revalli saw her rummage in a small pouch at her side. "I think that's a lie Mr. Barbarian.. spirits don't go on homicidal rampages because they accidentally drowned." Kaiyi didn't look at the man but kept looking threw one of the pouches on her side muttering in her strange language. This left Revalli to question Jensen some more if she wished.

Re: ranger Test Thread

She shot Kayi a questioning look, but let her do whatever it was she was doing while turning back to Jensen. "She's right. Spirits make mistakes, but I don't think an accidental drowning is the cause of this... And you might just as easily have done something to her before she died." The elf's voice was growing frosty, and the temperature in the air began to drop noticeably as she called on some minor water magic, "you DO NOT want us as angry at you as she is... So stop lying to us and tell us what you did. Whatever your crimes, letting the law deal with them will be more pleasant than what will happen if the spirit gets to you."

Re: ranger Test Thread

As the room dipped noticeably in temperature Jensen got more and more worried. It seemed he knew of the creatures ability to command the water element. He was breathing heavy as he tried to look away from Revalli's gaze but found no solace, no escape. " I-I killed her....... I did it.. I murdered her. She-she fell threw the ice and called out for help... I rushed to her side... and... and I forced her down under the water." At this revelation he started blubbering and crying. Kaiyi looked at the man in disgust her hand on the grip of her short blade. Her knuckles where white as she gripped it before she let go muttering something in her language before walking out clearly angry. Vala just looked at the man her usual warm disposition very cold. "Ill get Samuel this pig needs a trial." Vala left as well leaving the mage with the tied up man.

Revali held a hand to stop Kaiyi from drawing her blade and nodded at Vala as she left the room, but for a moment she simply stared down at Jensen as he sobbed and scowled harshly. After letting him cry for a few moments, however, she grabbed him by the chin and forced him to look up at her. "Why?"

"I-I don't know wa-why I did it. Its. like something came over me.... an I-I knew with her g-gone I would get the m-mil. I-Ive never done anything... like that before.... S-she treated me so nice and I-I killed her." Jansen was crying uncontrollably again and for the moment Revalli knew she wasn't going to get much more out of him. Still for being such a weak man and a coward it was hard believe he had done such a thing on his own, but he had admitted to it in front of her.

Revalli simply continued to scowl, still disgusted at Jensen for his actions. "The law will decide what to do with you," the elf ultimately said, "but first we need to make sure that her spirit doesn't get any worse. We need to calm her... Or failing that, capture her somehow." She turned to the outlander, wondering if she would have any input on that front.

Kaiyi thought a moment "Maybe her defeat earlier will put her back into a passive state. Barring that we.. well I could try to bind her to my service. Though in all honestly the girls needs to find peace not be enslaved." Kaiyi looked at the man disgust evident on her face. "Other than that finding out why she still lingers and resolving that might do the trick too."

"We can probably guess why she's still here," Revalli said flatly, shooting a scowl towards the sobbing man. "But you're right... Maybe she's here for something else? Maybe we can find something.... You're right, she shouldn't be bound to anyone. What are ghosts usually stuck here for?"

Re: ranger Test Thread

Kaiyi looked at the man before slapping him to get his attention. "You did they find her body?" The man stopped sobbing a moment stunned by the sudden strike. "N-no... they never found her." He started sobbing again. "Well there we have start maybe if her remains found a proper burial she will be at peace." Looking sharply at the man Kaiyi spoke again. "Where did you hid her." The man blubbered something unintelligible before Kaiyi raised her hand again. "She's still in the water the large pond after the mill." Relaxing a moment Jensen eased up only to have Kaiyi smack him again.

Re: ranger Test Thread

"I might be able to find it down there," Revalli reported after Kaiyi managed to force some further information out of Jensen. "Once he's in custody we should go to the pond," she continued, unwilling to leave Jensen on his own unguarded in case he tried to bolt. Hopefully they could assuage the spirit before it was reconstituted.

Re: ranger Test Thread

It didn't take long for Vera to come back with some shackles and bind the man. "My brother has some questions for him. Did you want to sit in on the questioning?" Kaiyi was quick to respond. "No Ms. Barbarian Revalli and myself shall see to finding the spirits remains." Vera's face visibly twitched as Kaiyi called her a barbarian but let it slide. With that taken care of the both of them left only to run into a group of villagers with all sorts of homemade weapon. It seems Vera would have her work cut out for her. Dealing with the forming mob as she would Revalli and Kaiyi walked to the mill the strange woman keeping quiet unless Revalli had something to say.

At the mill once more both woman looked up at the top floor where they could feel a presence. It was weak so they still had time. "So the fat man said the large pool at the mill but not which part. Ill take the far bank you can have this one." With out so much as asking if it was okay the girl was off to the other side crossing the small bridge leaving Revalli alone on her bank.

Re: ranger Test Thread

Revalli was about to answer before Kaiyi did it for her, earning a similar eyebrow twitch from the insulted elf but no further response. The crowd outside was... Worrying, and she couldn't help but wonder how they'd heard about any of this so fast, but it was a problem for Veera to solve. For now, they needed to hurry to the pond.

Thankfully it wasn't a long journey, and when they got there Revalli was about to say something only for the stranger to make a suggestion and then immediately act on it. She simply rolled her eyes, making no effort to stop her, and then simply stepped a bit closer to the water. They wouldn't find the girl's bones on the edge of the lake, not likely anyway. She would most likely be on the bottom, quite possibly buried in mud by this point, but that wouldn't necessarily be much of a hindrance.

Muttering under her breath for a few moments, Revalli began to cast, calling to the elements themselves. Two women appeared, crafted of pure water, rising from the lake itself. "Bring me the bones of the girl, down below. Bring them all here, to the surface, and if you cannot find them return here with all haste. Hurry," she commanded the two water elementals, feeding them her intent through the link created when she summoned them.

(Summon 2 water elementals via the level 2 water spell and let them search.)

Re: ranger Test Thread

Summoning her elemental Revalli only needed to wait for them to succeed. However a few minutes dragged by with no response, Nor had she seen Kaiyi for sometime. Eventually one of the elementals returned. "Mistress..... which ones did you want? There are many bones of the mortals in this water."

Re: ranger Test Thread

"What? Crap... Just... The newest ones first!" Revalli said, frustrated. She hadn't thought of that, but really it should have been obvious. "Keep the skeletons whole when possible, and bring them all up... I don't even know how to tell which one is which!" Hopefully Kaiyi would have some way of telling that. She seemed to know more about necromancy and the undead.

Re: ranger Test Thread

Nodding her elemental receded into the water once more. After a short while one of them returned with a mostly intact skeleton covered in mud and set it on the bank. Soon the second followed with the same result. This would repeat until Revalli had five nearly complete skeletons resting on the bank before her.

From her knowledge of nature and animals she was able to pick out that all the remains were female. All were about the same height in life and none had their remains damaged more than exposure to water and weather would indicate. Looking over the remains she heard one of the elementals speak. "Mistress there are more if you would like us to get them for you." It was grim news and Kaiyi had yet to return. They needed to act soon she could already feel the spirit regaining strength.

Re: ranger Test Thread

Grimacing, Revalli sent a flame blast into the air, signalling to Kaiyi her position. "I hope this doesn't mean what I think it means," she muttered, though as she felt the spirit regaining power her stomach sank. If all or even most of these bodies were a result of the same man's handiwork... No wonder the spirit had gained the power to manifest so quickly, it was probably an amalgamation of angry souls.

"Keep bringing them up... If we can put these to rest quickly, maybe we can at least weaken the spirit," she instructed, and then turned and walked away from the shore. With an effort of will and an exertion of power she dug a circular pit, and had the elementals bring the bodies there, placing each in its own place as she summoned another to speed things along.

"Spirit!" she called into the air, "let loose your rage! Release it! It will only destroy you!" It was a dangerous gambit, but at the very least she might draw the ghost here, away from the town.

Fireball into the air for fluff. Then Move Earth to make a burial pit and summon another water elemental to speed things up.

Re: ranger Test Thread

Sending her signal fire into the air Revalli got to work, summoning her third elemental to help the recovery of the dead. It wasn't long after that Kaiyi rejoined her looking at the slowly growing collection of remains. "Oh......." Almost immediately the foreign girl began to rummage around in her pouches.

As this went on all three of her elemental returned carrying the last of the remains. The skeletons had become less and less intact as they carried on their work with this final one just a skull, some ribs, and one femur. This one however Revalli noted had been killed with a weapon. The tell tale spiderweb cracks on the skull showed the point of impact. Looking over all the remains Revalli counted 13 known individuals. Looking to Kaiyi the girl was muttering in her own language as she sprinkled some sort of water on the bodies as they where lowered into the mass grave. As soon as they had finished and the remains buried the girl brought a few pieces of paper and began to fold them into a strange structure. Setting it down she whispered something and then lit it on fire. Turning to Revalli Kaiyi spoke in a muted tone. That should keep the spirits a piece for now. It will not last and the vile man should be punished quickly.
