Azira set out from Glassmoor with high spirits, fresh from training and committed to her dream of purging the jungle of the vile alien influence. It wouldn't be an easy task, with the remaining aliens spread over the whole forest, no central intelligence, and reproducing rapidly when they could find victims. And even if that were accomplished, there would still be demons and the 'natural' dangers of the forest to contend with... but those were obstacles to be dealt with when they arose. In the mean time she could put her hard-earned combat skills to work avenging her family and all the others who had been lost in that terrible attack.
And it seemed she would have her first chance quickly. She was barely outside the area of the forest controlled by Glassmoor, and already she had stumbled onto one of the vile aliens. It was fairly small, only a few feet and covered in thick grey tentacles. Which was slightly troubling. On the one hand, it might be nice to pace herself, fighting a few little ones before she tried her hands on the big ones. But on the other hand, that meant it had been born fairly recently, probably borne by a woman from Glassmoor, not unlike Azira herself.
But that wasn't important at the moment. This might not be the most powerful foe, but it still deserved the blue-haired woman's full attention. Unless she was terribly unlucky, she would have the drop on it. Azira loosened her weapon in its sheathe, and slowly drew it out. She would just have to get a bit closer. Once she was sure there was nothing else dangerous nearby, she could decide to attack or -
Crack!
In quiet of the jungle, the sound of a branch snapping underfoot seemed like it should echo. It didn't, but there was no question of sneaking up on the thing now. Unless she planned to run, the grabber would be upon Azira in seconds, waving its tentacles threateningly.
