Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

There was little hesitation in neither of the girls as they sprung into action. Adelle aimed and fired her blaster at the curious creature facing them, hitting one of it's four arms and dealing a small detriment to it's fighting ability. The monster retaliated by spraying some sort of string from all of it's palms, not quite hitting either of them as it was pushed to avoid the busty girl's second shot. For her part, Rosieta smootly slipped under all of the black stuff that was thrown towards them, hacking the thing in the thighs once but missing the second slash. Their opponent was forced to back up a bit as the maid's aggressive attack almost enabled her to drive the blade she had borrowed into the creature's body from close range.

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

Adelle aimed and squeezed the trigger of her gun, her bullet flying out and hitting one of the strange creature's arms, taking that particular arm out for the most part to give them some small advantage she hoped. As she fired a second shot at the thing, she watched as her bullet whizzed by and hit the wall behind to leave a hole in it as the beast shot some sort of string out of its hands, which her and Rosieta both were able to dodge thankfully.

After dodging the string stuff, she watched as Rosieta maneuvered under it all and swung her blade at the creature, cleaving a deep cut in its thigh as she forced it back, though her second attack just like Adelle's missed unfortunately, leaving the thing merely backed against the wall and ready to continue the fight.

"Come on Rosie, let's get this thing and then get the hell out of here," Adelle said to the maid, aiming once more and firing, counting the shots she'd fired already and remembering that she only had 4 bullets remaining in her gun at the moment, so she had to make those count, she thought to herself as she took careful aim at the creature's other arms.

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

With some hurt dealt to their target, Adelle and Rosieta got a bit more determined with their attack and pushed against the creature they had bumped into. Their initial attacks went astray from the thing, which then proceeded to trap the maid with it's black, rope-like shot. It appeared that she was not going to have any of it though, and as the thing darted it's head towards her in an effort to bite at the struggling Rosieta, it was rewarded with a smash to the mouth from the briefcase she carried in the other hand. Adelle too corrected her form and hit her fourth shot, but neither of the damages was enough to dissuade the monster from keeping the servant in the clutches of the shiny strands. The maid could fight still, but she was just not able to move freely because of the constant tugging on her swordarm and upper body.

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

Seeing that they'd done a good bit of damage to their foe, Adelle fired another shot at the thing, which went wide and missed, even as Rosieta missed her sword strike at the thing. The thing then shot some more of the string stuff at Rosieta and trapped her in some of the sticky substance, where she swung the briefcase around at it as it tried to move its head in to bite her, smashing the metal case into its head. Then Adelle took another shot, this time hitting the thing thankfully, yet it didn't force it to leave them alone she noticed.

"H-Hang on Rosie, I'm coming!" Adelle called out to the maid as she rushed in and swung the combat knife out and hacked at the string holding Rosieta to free the maid so she could continue fighting effectively as she aimed her gun to lay down some covering fire on the creature, aiming at the largest part of the thing so she wouldn't miss easily.

Rushing to aid her companion, Adelle swung the borrowed knife at the shiny, ropelike strands, but found that they were much more durable and flexible she had estimated. The blade only managed to nick them a bit, which was a surprise in itself. With the busty girl between itself and Rosie, the monster's attention turned towards her. But again, the maid was not having any of this and stepped forward despite the restraints placed on her, both attempts at biting the intercepting girl ending up against the heavy metal of the case she wielded in the other hand. The creature was already looking like a mess, the repeated bashes to the mouth already showing damages as there were lots of teeth missing and a moderate bleeding, possibly even a dislocation of the lower jaw.

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

When Adelle hacked at the strands of whatever thread it was holding Rosie, she was very amazed that the sharp knife practically bounced off of them, barely cutting any of them as her bullets both missed and hit the wall behind the bug like creature. She barely had the time to blink as the thing came at her now since she was between it and Rosieta, but the maid was on her feet in an instant and had the metal briefcase blocking its bite attempts on Adelle as she slammed it into the thing's mouth, knocking several teeth out in the process from what Adelle could see.

"Come on, let's finish this and go home," Adelle said to Rosieta, getting her knife ready as she hastily tried to slide another bullet or two into her gun before shooting them at it, however if it didn't look like she'd have the time to even get one bullet into her gun to shoot then she'd attempt to mount the thing's back and stab her knife down into it to try and finish it off, thinking it wouldn't take much as it was near deaths door already.

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

The situation was very close and personal, so Adelle was better off not gawking around near the monster while reloading. Her attempt of getting near the thing was thwarted by it's tail which whipped towards her when she moved from the side but didn't hit, only serving as a distraction briefly. However, the distraction was enough, and would bring in the finish of the battle. Rosieta's relentless casebashing reached a climax as she swung the thing in a full swing, denting the creature's headplate and causing it to collapse onto the ground. Just to make sure that is was over, she moved in and stood over the thing, getting the now limp strands off from herself before taking a few two-handed bashes to the already dented skull. After she was done, a grotesque mess was all that remained from the alligator-ish head.

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

When Adelle moved in close to attack, deciding it better to not try and reload just yet and using her knife instead. However as she got close, the thing's tail whipped around and forced her to back off to keep from getting hit. But even as Adelle evaded the tail coming at her, Rosieta swung the briefcase around once more, smashing it into the thing's head again and caving the creature's head in some, killing it. Adelle moved in to help her get the string stuff off of her and watched as the maid bashed it a couple of more times for good measure to make certain it was really dead and all.

"Well... I guess we know what came out of the tunnel over there huh. Maybe we should head on back and inform your boss of what happened here, and get some much needed rest," Adelle said as she reloaded her gun again, giving her suggestion to the situation, as they were rather ill equipped now since Rosieta was out of ammo and all. However Adelle would follow Rosieta's lead wherever she went, though she did want to hurry up and get out of there and would tell Rosieta they should hurry up and do so as they weren't equipped to take on much more than they had.

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

"Most likely... was a good thing we never decided to go down the ladder... who knows what there would have been if we did." the maid replied, the deceased thing hinting that there might be other such alien creatures down the excavation ladder. But that was not a thing they would be looking after now, the site remaining behind for now as they headed up the stairs and back to the factory floors.

On the factory floors, little had changed. Even the grinning super-mannequin was still there, but it didn't bother them anymore, apparently content with looking at them go from his lovenest. And before they knew it, the outer door cllosed behind them, signalling the end of this investigation as the sight of the evening city opened before their eyes once again.

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

"Yeah tell me about it, I'm glad we didn't have to go down there. Gods there's probably dozens of those things down there, and I don't even want to think about what may have happened if we'd have gone down there," Adelle said with a shudder, agreeing it was good they'd decided to not go down there after all.

Following Rosieta back upstairs, Adelle shut off the light on her helmet once they were back in a lighted area that they could see in without it. Once back upstairs, they headed back through the facility to the front exit, by way of the quickest route, which led them past the one mannequin on the bed, which Adelle winked and waved at as they went past, deciding to play a little nice as it hadn't attacked them any, and was even a bit of a... gentleman to them really. Nothing else apparently was to come at them thankfully, as Adelle stayed at the ready until they left the factory, holstering her gun as soon as they exited through the front doors and back into the city.

When outside again, Adelle took in a deep breath and let it out before glancing down at herself, taking in the features of her new clothing for a minute or two before sighing softly, thinking to herself that she was stuck with it for now, as she didn't have a decent shirt to take the place of her other one, plus her boots were gone and she'd have to get more of them now... hopefully she'd be getting enough money from this job to afford both while still getting enough to go with what she had to save up some.

"I would ask if you minded coming with me to the place I'm staying at right now, so I could change clothes and stuff, but I suppose your boss is really waiting for that case, so we can head on now, unless you think it'd be better for me to change clothes first," Adelle said, stretching her muscles and relaxing a bit now that they were out of the factory one more. "Can I ask Rosie... what's your boss like exactly? I mean is there anything specific I need to know not to say or do in front of him? So he doesn't get mad at me or anything," Adelle added after a few moments, wondering just what to expect with Rosieta's boss and his family.

"I don't think you need to change... While the Master doesn't most likely mind how you come to meet him, I think he might actually prefer that to something like your earlier look... the one you came in with..." the maid answered, pausing briefly before moving to the second set of questions. "Well... he is kind of a tradional person... but seems not to mind the behaviours of others... can be hotheaded at times if things don't go his way... But... he does break away from the traditions when it comes to... certain things..." she finished up, the final things causing something unexpected to happen as Rosieta broke into a strong blush all of a sudden.

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

"M'kay then, I'll go like this if you think it'd be alright, but I do have other clothes than what you saw me in earlier, which are kind of nice. And I do hope he wouldn't mind what I normally look like if I change back later and perhaps work with you again and stuff. Also I can be a bit hot headed at times too, so that wouldn't bother me much, as long as it ain't directed at me that is," Adelle said, shrugging her shoulders and deciding to follow Rosieta on to her boss's place to speak with him and return the briefcase, when she noticed the blush on the maid's cheeks, Adelle wondered just what exactly those certain things were she spoke of, "What do you mean by certain things exactly? I hope it's nothing too... drastic if I say or do something wrong and maybe offend him. Oh also, here's your knife back, I don't think I'll be a needing it anymore now," Adelle added after a few moments, handing Rosieta's combat knife back to her, and taking her sword back and fixing it to her hip.

Once the maid was ready to head on, Adelle would tell her to lead on, where she would then follow her to her boss's home, which she imagined would be a manor most likely. "So... how long have you worked for your boss? And if you don't mind my asking, what does he do? I'm curious, because I'm so new to the city and all and I'm trying to learn about everything I can, and where the best paying jobs and stuff are," Adelle asked along the way, trying to kill the time with some small talk and get to know Rosieta a little better, since they'd worked together for so long today and all, she considered her a friend now. However if Rosieta didn't wish to speak of it, then Adelle would drop the subject and not bother her any more about it, remaining silent for the remainder of the journey unless the maid initiated a conversation..

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

"Well... you know... those kinds of things..." the maid replied as she was asked, not apparently willing to elaborate further into the subject. The heavy blushing persisted as she exchanged blades with Adelle, the knife going back to a hidden sheath behind the two guns on her back.

As they walked along, heading towards what was known as the richest district in the city, Rosieta spoke up a bit more as she was questioned."I've worked for the master several years now... He doesn't do that much... simply takes care of the family business... Usually via other people acting on his behalf... For the jobs... I don't really know... maybe some of the rich people give those... but the bounty hunters are good too... at least once you reach the highest levels... And since the master is in co-operation with her... I think the waitresses at Isolda's earn pretty good as well..." the maid explained as they neared towards a walled-off manor house. The gate was there and open, but there were mean-looking, gorilla-type guys in suits carrying guns on both sides of it. The other one had an AK-47 shouldered while the other carried a more close-range option, a pump-action shotgun with a neat wooden stock and forend. While they seemed fearsome, the pair broke facade as soon as they saw the maid, their greetings showing no sign of unease even as they saw Adelle, a stranger and potential threat. It was like Rosieta's presence told them to not worry about it.

Behind the gate, there was a partially growing garden, some areas of it not being good enough to use as a soil of growing things. There were a few trees there, along with some grass and flowers, a thing that had been rare in the city.

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

"Oh come on Rosie... what kinds of things? I mean we're girls after all, plus after what all we've been through in the factory earlier, I think we can talk about that kind of thing. Unless you don't want to that is, It's up to you," Adelle said, blushing a little bit when Rosie said those kind of things, thinking that she meant sexual things of some sort, but she didn't mind talking about sexual things with other girls, especially girls she considered her friends.

Along the way, Adelle noticed they were passing into what she could only assume was the richest area of the city, glancing around at the finer things around her and slightly longing for her family to be able to enjoy living like these people themselves in a big old manor with handmaids and stuff like that. Of course maybe one day they could, as that was one reason Adelle had moved to the city after all, to make enough money for them to do such a thing. When Rosieta began talking and answering her questions, Adelle listened to her words to make sure she didn't tell her not to do something and her not hear her.

"So he's kind of just the overseer in a way, with lots of people working under him. And waitresses you said, hmm... I might check it out and work there a little if the pay is good and it doesn't require much or any training of any kind to do so. Are you one of the bounty hunters though Rosie? You're more than strong enough to be one if you wanted to be. And what would one have to do in order to get up to those highest levels?" Adelle said as they came up to the walled manor.

When they got up to the gate, Adelle noticed the two big guys standing guard there, one carrying an assault rifle, and the other a shotgun. She noticed the gate was open and she was about to get ready to be searched, or possibly even strip searched after thinking about all that had happened to her over the last day. However she didn't need to worry about it as the two with their rather mean looking faces eased up when they saw Rosieta, not even bothering to search Adelle or stop her as they apparently felt no need to since she was with the maid. Adelle was a little amazed and rather kind of liked being with Rosieta now, as it'd be a little tiresome and annoying to have to go through a search like that after what all had happened to her in that factory earlier. Once inside and past the gates, Adelle saw the beautiful green grass, the trees, and the flowers that were a part of the garden there, and out of instinct that she couldn't help, Adelle stopped as they passed the flowers and smelled a couple of them, though without picking them from the ground, as there was few enough already to be taking any precious ones from the ground like that, especially considering they weren't her's to pick in the first place. She also ran her hands along the grass, this being one of the few times in her life she'd been able to what with so little grass that still grew nowadays after the war.

"S-Sorry about that Rosie, it's just I haven't seen flowers like this save in one place in the city, and that was at this one clothing store a friend took me to the other day, and I haven't seen grass like this in... about a year or two. I couldn't help myself when I saw it... because it's just so... beautiful," Adelle said to Rosieta when the maid inevitably asked her what she was doing, or if she didn't ask and merely gave her a look, then she would say the same after smelling the flowers and running her fingers through the grass some.

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

Of the things she had mentioned, Rosieta made no further comment. Instead, she went straight to the other stuff. "I suppose you could... but I've heard that you might be required to do... additional services... to some of the more demanding clients over there... As for the hunters... I am not one... I am here for the master only... but I suppose you ascend in that organization like in any other... be succesful enough times." All things considered, it was pretty simple to understand.

The behaviour Adelle showed towards the vegetation didn't seem to surprise Rosieta, and she shrugged it off pretty nonchalantly. Instead, the maid turned attention towards leading the pair into the large manor house before them. The place was as large and garish as Adelle had possibly expected, with signs of both European and Mexican styles visible on the various decorations and furnishings. The they came across almost immidiately after going through one door seemed to be more of the former part, with fine, slim features and long legs that were quite handily shown by the white frilly one-piece dress she wore. Despite her young age, the girl was tall and proud with a strong and orderly posture to her stance. While there was the eminent rich girl look about her, the posture told Adelle that there was more to her than that. "Rosie, Rosie. Did you run another one of father's messier errands? That is nice of you, but do make yourself presentable before you go see him." the girl adressed Rosieta in her scraggly current look, not paying much attention to Adelle. But she did acknowledge the busty girl, even if it was only a brief look and nod. "Yes, Miss Emily. It is not my intention to look bad."

Re: Steel Sky (Adelle/Mind Flayer)

Following Rosie on into the house after admiring the flowers and such, Adelle saw that the house was quite as lavishly decorated as she'd expected it to be all things considered. It seemed to have a mix of old European and Mexican things inside and in the design of the place, which she'd learned some about in school a long time ago. Upon going through one of the doors, Adelle saw a young woman almost waiting for them. After listening to the exchange of words between the young woman who's name was apparently Emily, Adelle offered her hand to shake as she nodded back to her and bowed and curtsied when she found out about her being the boss's daughter, taking in all of her features and thinking to herself that this girl was very pretty, especially with that white dress on her like that.

"Um... hello there miss Emily, I'm Adelle, I went with Rosie here earlier on the job," Adelle said to the young woman in a friendly tone, shaking her hand if she took her's and smiling. She then turned to Rosieta for a moment, asking, "Are you going to go get changed first before we take that on in or what Rosie? Doesn't really matter to me honestly, I didn't really have anything else planned for today."

Depending on the maid's answer, Adelle would either follow her on to see her boss, or she would ask Emily where she could sit down and rest for a few minutes while awaiting Rosieta to change her clothes. "Miss Emily, can I ask where you got your dress? It's really pretty on you, and makes you even prettier than you already are. And... would it maybe be too much trouble if I asked for a drink before seeing your dad? Just something to calm the nerves and all you know, I hear your father is an important man, and I don't want to be fumbling over my words or anything and maybe screw up you know, I want to make a good first impression," Adelle would asked Emily if she stayed near her while either going to see Rosie's boss or while she waited for the maid to change, letting her know if she said it was okay for the drink that she'd prefer scotch over anything, but she wasn't too picky.

"Yes, I will... I can't present myself like this..." the messy maid told Adelle before departing for the other quarters with the case in tow, leaving the busty girl behind for now. She would have to spend some time with Emily, who didn't apparently see enough reason to leave.

The two of them took seats on some rather voluminous couches, Emily doing her best to remain quiet until she was actually spoken to. "This? It's from that one rose-growing lady in the merchant district, you might know her as she is a popular choice for all stripes of women and girls around here." the daughter mentioned the maker of the clothes, who Adelle had indeed met when she and the sisters were on their shopping trip a few days ago. When it was mentioned, Emily seemed a bit surprised that she was being asked for it, but didn't seem insulted or angry about it. Instead, she leaned back over the back of the couch and pushed on an intercom button on the wall behind her. "Bring some wine here. Le Pin or Petrus would hit the spot." she spoke up on the intercom, and a few minutes later there were tall wine glasses in front of both of them as a sharply-dressed old man passed by and presented both of them with their drinks. With practised style and mannerism, Emily took up her wine and the first sip.

"Alright then Rosie, I guess I'll be waiting out here for you, just come get me when you're done," Adelle called out to the maid as she left, waving to her a bit.

Once Rosieta was gone, Adelle took a seat with Emily on a quite nice couch, which had soft cushions on it that felt great to sit on, and almost as soon as she'd sat down on it, Adelle felt her body relaxing after the tiring mission earlier. "Yeah I know her, I actually bought a few things from her a couple of days ago actually, I mean nothing as beautiful as that dress or anything, but they were still nice... at least I thought they were anyway," Adelle said to Emily, still kind of admiring the dress and then looking down at herself, thinking there was no way she'd ever be able to afford that nice a thing. When Emily pressed the button on the wall and called for some wine to be brought to them. When their drinks arrived, Adelle took her glass and thanked the butler that brought them their drinks.

"Oh thank you miss Emily, I really needed this. I've never really drank wine before, and I've gotta say it really tasted delicious," Adelle said after sipping her wine a little, thanking Emily for having something to drink brought to her. "Hmm... maybe I should get freshened up a little bit myself to prepare to meet your father," Adelle added after sipping down about half of her glass of wine.

Adelle would quickly finish the rest of her glass of wine, licking her lips a little bit after finishing the delicious tasting drink. Once done, she turned to Emily again. "Um... miss Emily, I hate to ask you for something else when we've only just met, and since I'm only a guest and all. But might you have somewhere I can freshen myself up at? And maybe wash off a bit too?" Adelle asked once her wine was gone, her nerves now calmed but now her mind focusing on getting a little cleaned up herself. Should she have the time to, Adelle would follow Emily to wherever she could get cleaned up a bit, where she'd disrobe and begin washing herself off, taking a quick bath or shower if she had the time to do so.

"Well, it is a fine vintage, I wouldn't expect less of it." Emily said about the wine, being a lot more restrained about the drinking than Adelle herself. "It might be a thing... but I'm not sure if you can manage that. Looks like you'll be going now." the daughter told her as Rosieta appeared in the room again, barely five minutes after leaving. She was now dressed up in a fresh, somewhat lighter-looking uniform and had gotten rid of her weapons as well, most likely not seeing the need to carry those anymore.

"It tastes really good miss Emily, thank you for it," Adelle said about the wine, bowing her head to the young lady. "And what do you mean about that... oh, well I guess making myself look a little better will have to wait a while then," Adelle added after a moment when Emily continued speaking, glancing around and noticing Rosieta coming back into the room.

Apparently she'd have to wait to clean herself off until later, as her companion had returned much quicker than she'd anticipated her doing. She noticed that Rosie had gotten rid of her weaponry, most likely because she didn't need it anymore at this point considering they were in relatively friendly territory and all. "Well then I guess we should hurry on, unless you don't mind me getting a little freshened up a little bit first," Adelle said to Rosieta when she entered the room, kind of hoping to at least make herself a bit more presentable for her boss, though if Rosie wished to go ahead and head on in to meet with him then she wouldn't mind doing so.
