"Um... some light salad... and maybe some of delicious cake. Your picks." Rikke smiled to the two "I'll ask around and be right with you okay?" if they all agreed just as she planned before the rogue would drop by the general store for 'directions' and information about the nearby forest. If unsuccessful she'd check the sheriffs office for the exact same things, though this time checking for a 'Missing' notice board for any potential victims of the 'ghosts'.

Re: Chapter 4 An Uncertain Future(Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Entering the store Rikke could feel the floor bend slightly, the age of the building readily apparently. Inside she found a greying haired man at the counter. With a small bell ringing as she entered the man smiled and offered a greeting. "Hello" Asking her questions the man frowned. "We had hoped that story would have been forgotten by now." Sighing the man spoke again. "It happened about ten years ago. A group of students on a dare went into the haunted forest. Fine lasses I remember them well. All six of them heard the story about the haunted forest and went to spend the night in it. Of course we all thought it was a silly prank from a forgotten age. You know a story to keep kids well behaved. Those girls those poor girls only one made it out that night and she was a wreck mumbling about the living dead. We never found the girls and the survivor later disappeared as well. About a year after the survivor vanished people began seeing figures in the woods. Any investigation turned up nothing so the mayor placed a quarantine on the woods."

Just as she thought... well the 'Haunted' title had to come from somewhere "I'm sorry for bringing it up." with the last survivor gone missing the rogue didn't really even have anyone to inquire further... except maybe the sheriff who found the girl?

"I see... well thank you very much. We were planning to visit, but... I think we'll pass." she'd giggle playfully "I assume one of the roads out of town would lead us to the quarantined area?" Rikke would ask for directions where the road was blocked off... though not so she could avoid it.

Purchasing some camping supplies of all things, the rogue would stash them in cars storage and lock it once more, before heading to the sheriffs or well police office.

Entering the building it was suprisingly empty, such a small town more than likely rarely if ever had trouble brewing. Once asked why she arrived the heroine put on a cheery smile and began her little lie... "Hello, my name is Rikke. I'm traveling writer from Endus and I'm currently working on my new book, is there anyone here I could ask about the events in the haunted forest?" she'd look to the administator politely, hopefully the officers here were bored enough to sit down and share few ghost stories.

If asked what the book is about "It's a supernatural crime story. I'm drawing inspirations from real events that occured... all due respect to those effected, ofcouse."

Purchasing her supplies Rikke got a look from the man as the cash exchanged hands. "Ms Don't go into those woods okay. They are not a right place in this world."

Walking into the station Rikke got a sense of Deja Vu. The jail looked as much as it would from her time. Metal bared Jail cells sat against the whole back wall while a secretary typed away at a old computer. Nearby a man in a police uniform had his feet kicked back on his desk and a wide brimmed hat over his face. Gentle snoring could be heard. Another desk was empty.

Beginning her rehearsed story Rikke drew a look from the secretary who seemed wholly unimpressed. "Sorry Ms we don't share information about ongoing cases with passerby's. However the library has a good selection of local tales if your interested." Seemingly getting no where unless she wanted to bother the sleeping officer Rikke was left with little information. Stepping out Rikke saw a man dressed in the same uniform as the other man inside chatting with a girl in a flower printed dress as he leaned against a wall.

The rogue looked to the woman clearly disappointed, but... it was ongoing? "But I came all the way from Endus. I won't pry on the sensitive information!" Rikke still insisted, but likely to little effect...

Well that was quite a bit disappointed. The heroine sighed casually and looked to where the restaurant was... only for a lovely couple to catch her eye. While it was likely just a small time flirt, the rogue had to make sure... who knows, she just might luck out.

Still if it wasn't fruitful, she might as well go meet up with the girls and tell them what she learned.

As Rikke moved by the man caught a glimpse of her and looked a little long in her direction. The girl he was speaking to noticed and got a stern look on her face. "Jandor you to timing tramp!" Bringing her hand back the girl smacked the officer soundly. This of course brought a surprise yelp from the officer as the girl stormed off leaving him holding his crimson cheek. What Rikke made of this was her own decision. She could try to wiggle some information from the officer or head on to the dinner.

Oops... though perhaps staring at the luscious rogue, while standing right infront of his date wasn't the best of ideas. Rikke snickered lightly to herself, though just as she was about to carry on... a most curious idea crossed her mind.

A sly smile crossed the rogue face as a miscievious plan took root. She'd pause her leave and turn to the previously stare happy officer, he seemed to have lost a date and was more than a little curious about the rogue. A perfect mixture for her 'persuasion' skills.

The sly and mischief of her rogueish nature hidden, Rikke approached with a innocent and spunky smile "Hello!" she'd lean forward to the man, seemingly oblivious of what just happened to him "Excuse me, you appear to be a local officer." she'd give him an absolutely mesmerizing smile, her eyes sparkling "I'm working on a story related to the 6 missing girl incident... by chance perhaps you know something about it?" Rikke turned her head curiously, ever so subtly pushing her already generous cups together with her forearms.

Not missing a beat the officer brought out his own winning smile. "Well hello there. Your a pretty one." Adjusting his position to face Rikke and take in her generous figure he spoke again. "Now why would a pretty young thing like you want to know about such a horrible mess?" Explaining her cover story the officer nodded a semi serious look crossing his face a moment. "I see well Ms...?" Waiting for Rikke to introduce herself he spoke up again. "Nice to meet you. I'm deputy Jandor. Now sadly we are not allowed to share details in cases...." Rikke could hear a little doubt in his voice. "But maybe I can make an exception for you. Now I can't give out to many details it wouldn't be proper."

"What? No! Ofcourse!" while normally the rogue could fake her excitement, she was genuinely curious about this case! Her sudden excitement even shifting the man into a slightly more softer and stricter side, whoever she was there was little doubt she wanted to learn more... "It would mean so much to me! Just wahetevr you can tell me would be fine." still if both of them entered the office, chances are the man would get some lip from the stonefaced clerk there.

"Please, after you. Not sure if the miss at the table would be too happy about us talking though... would the office still be fine?" Rikke smiled playfully to the man, her interest only highlighting her exceptional beauty.

"Yeah Claire is rather stern about giving out details especially about the disappearances given that one of them was her sister." Righting himself the Deputy lead Rikke away to a small park before asking her to sit while he got a drink. Coming back from the dinner he had two steaming cups. "Not sure what you would like so I just got regular coffee." Handing over the cups the deputy sat and sipped his drink before looking at Rikke dead on. "So its probably easier for you to ask the questions that way I can decide on whats safe to speak about and you can hopefully get all your answers." Smiling the deputy looked at her. "Sound good?"

Thankfully the coffee wasn't just plain black, infact it had a lovely milk foam on it's very top! "Thanks" while the rogue may have had more questionable intents, the lovely park would work perfectly!

"Alright, if that's what you'd prefer." she'd node to the man and fix her position, her eyes locking with his as she began her questions...

"So when did this happen?"

"Who were the girls, like... just visitors?"

"A local mentioned one of the girls survived the attack, where was she found?"

"I'm so sorry to ask, but... how was she? Besides likely being absoulely scared to death..."

"So these attackers... zombies? Could you elaborate a lil' bit more?"

"What do you think... was she right? Could there really be something supernatural in those woods?"

"Has anything similar ever happen before? After?"

Listing to Rikke speak the deputy nodded to himself before answering the questions. "Well it was about 10 years ago right about when you southern Crolia folk started going on about the return of magic to the world. As for the girls besides the one local Crissa." The deputy looked at Rikke as if deciding something before he continued. "Clair's sister the rest were her friends from the local university." Rubbing the starting stubble on his gin the deputy paused a moment if trying to recall. "Humm I was still in school at the time... lets see... I think they found her wandering around the field run by the florist. She was stunned and confused looked like she had been running all night. But besides all the cuts from the rose thorns and scrapes from the woods they didn't find a mark on her." Taking a sip he paused again. "They never did get a straight answer from her about what happened she just kept saying the undead the undead. No investigators turned up anything living or dead in the forest. As for my opinion and this is strictly off the record, it was probably some crazy in the woods. He probably took the girls and sold them on the slave market. As far as anything supernatural, well I don't believe such poppy cock stories and that is all there is to it. Nothing has happened ever sense but the Mayor and subsequent mayors have kept it quarantined. I have no doubt that its broken all the time. Hells even I go there during hunting season so the woods are perfectly safe."

Re: Chapter 4 An Uncertain Future(Ubberific) GMed by ranger

"Strange." Rikke thought about something briefly "Then why call the forest haunted? It's known as such all the way in Crolia, if this was just one freak accident... wouldn't it just be an attack by bandits in the woods?"

The heroine turned to the deputy curiously, though depending on his answer she might give him one final question "Why do you think the attackers picked them?"

Still if this was indeed just a freak accident, the trio had little to worry about... but something still seemed off to the rogue.

"Well it probably has to do with the girls story. Sounds spooky enough, and you know how tall tales like to grow on their own. As far as being haunted I have no idea where that came about originally. Probably some even way back in history. The library would have more info on that stuff. I never really focused on tall tales or history for that matter. As far as why any attacker would pick them well six pretty girls alone in the woods. Doesn't take much imagination now dose it.

Re: Chapter 4 An Uncertain Future(Ubberific) GMed by ranger

"Y-yeah... I guess." Rikke looked down in thought, still there was little doubt people kept entering the forest. If someone managed to attack six of them, a few lovers pairs or dare groups would've been a far too easy of a target... perhaps whatever vile slavers resided in the forest had long left.

On the brightside it would make the trios job all that extra bit easier "I see! So besides a forest there's nothing to see in it?" Rikke gave the man a kind smile, before looking aside "Not that... I'm planning to enter it. Quarantine is quarantine." she'd smile sheepishly to him.

With that likely her conversation with the deputy would be over "Thank you very much for sharing!" Rikke gave him a beaming smile and a light kiss on the cheek "I've got a ton of ideas for my book now!" unless there was something else.... it was about time to find her companions.

Re: Chapter 4 An Uncertain Future(Ubberific) GMed by ranger

"Well maybe but Ive never been all the way in. It is a rather large forest. I know a few people, mostly relatives of the missing girls go into the woods to look for their campsite but no one has ever found it. Every year or so they go in with the mayors permission but they haven't had any luck either." Finishing their coffee the two parted ways and Rikke was soon joined with Dianna and Kanna at the dinner.

Inside some soft tunes played in the background as light conversation echo around. Kanna was in the middle of a big bight of some sort of sandwhich while Dianna sipped on cup of tea. Across from them was Rikke's spot with a light salad and small piece of cake or at lest she thought it was cake.

"See you and thank you, Jan!" Rikke would wave the kind deputy goodbye and much to her surprise still find her companions at the dinner "Hum? I'm honestly quite surprised to find you two still in here." the heroine smiled kindly and sat down at the table "Well I've got a quite a bit of juicy info about our forest." the rogue smiled slyly and would recollect what she learned about the forest, it's past and it's dangerous... as well as the road to the 'quarantined' area.

"We decided to let you work." Dianna followed the deputy with her eyes as he crossed the road and back to his station. Listening to Rikke the girl nodded to herself while Kanna devoured the meat filled sandwich. "They are hiding something they have to be. This town is far to quaint and to close to the border to remain this small. Something is going on here." Diana would sip her tea letting Rikke mull over what she had learned about the forest. Kanna didn't seem to have much to offer and was purring happily as she ate a all to satisfied grin on her face. "Towns like this have their secrets." Pausing Dianna eyed the room and the street. "Did you notice Rikke that this town is full of very young people? Hardly a grey hair among them. I know if I had grown up in such a sleepy town I would have either left of died of boredom by now.

Re: Chapter 4 An Uncertain Future(Ubberific) GMed by ranger

"Hum... well there's always a chance that the old people are in their homes." Rikke would add as she enjoyed her meal "However, I agree." she'd smirk slyly "A few things don't add up and unfortunately for our hosts, we're not just a ditzy crew on a spring break." Rikke would glance around just incase if anyone or anything was watching them before continueing "Did our briefing contain any info about the events here?"

Still, the deputy mentioned that the missing girls were mainly locals... or from a nearby university at the very least. While all three of them could don their paranoid hats all they wished... "Let's stay sharp for now, though this might just as well be us crafting imaginary chaos theories." the girl giggled playfully and with that the meal was done.

"Alright, I think we should try and head to the forest while we still have light." Rikke gave a firm nod "I bought some supplies if we'd need to camp out, but let's try and avoid night-time in the wilderness." even if she said that, deep inside the rogue was absolutely tingly at the prospect of discovering potential secrets and mysteries!

"Only that what we are looking for is near the center of the forest. It looks much larger than the satellite photo's Ive seen." Finishing up the girls got back in the off road car and headed out of town. Following Rikke's instructions Diana drove them out of town and circled around out of sight. Pulling into an old abandoned farm Rikke realized they where at the field of roses the deputy mentioned. Thought the flowers where now a tangled mess Rikke could see the forest from her current location. "Okay this should give us some cover to work. We can hide the car and the forest is not to far from our location." Heading to the truck Kanna got the supplies out as well as the handguns they had brought with them.
