Re: Brushfires and Blades (ranger and Ubberific) GMed by Courage Wolf

Nysa wiggled her ears cutely as Emi spoke to her, as she quickened her nibbling on the last remnants of the fish. Emi had made quite some distance till Nysa finally got curious enough to follow the samurai, honestly the Kitsune had already forgotten about the previous "punishment" and the rules set on her. Something that just might bite her later on.

Nysa quickly closed the distance and leaped through the air right onto the samurais back, almost knocking her prone, but the samurais strong stance had more than enough balance to keep the girl on her feet. The Kitsune didn't even ask for permission as she already had her arms on the girls shoulders, riding piggyback. "That-a-way, Emi!" as if an admiral steering a mighty vessel Nysa ponted the samurai towards the source of the orchid and whatever awaited them beyond.

Emi walked as graceful and dignified as she could and was completely unaware of the kitsune hurtling towards her. At first she thought she was under attack but as Nysa spoke and Emi recovered the sense of danger was replaced with the feeling of annoyance. "Nysa! Did I not just hear you say that you are a grown woman?" Not waiting for the Kitsune to reply Emi continued. "So you are fully capable of walking as such. Besides you are making Shooting Star dig into my back." Emi stopped and waited for the young woman to get down before readjusting the unstrung bow and quiver back to its comfortable position.

"But this is more fun~" Nysa looked at Emi as innocent as ever, though the samurai girls gaze stood resolute in it's request. To be fair Emi's weapons did make the piggy back ever so slightly less comfortable than it could've been... the thought of just getting rid of the nuisances did cross the Kitsunes mind, but somewhere deep deep inside something cried out desperately that doing so would be a really bad idea.

"Humph... 'kay" Nysa jumped down from the girl slightly pouty at her ruined fun, but she'll live. "Come on, it's this way!" the Kitsune quickly started streaking towards the previously ordered direction, not waiting for the samurai girl to react or even inquire what exactly was "it".

"It" Was exactly what her nose told her it was, and knowing the samurai's lack of any desire to find out what happened if they got too far apart, it could be safely assumed she did her best to keep up with the kitsune who seemed to have completely forgotten that there were in fact, consequences to reckless behaviour.

As Nysa tore off towards her target, the first trees came into view, their limbs bowing slightly with the weight of the bounty they carried. Apples, in droves. Whether it was a wild orchard, or one owned by someone was unclear. The trees themselves seemed well cared for, and the fruit was beautiful all on it's own. But there seemed to be no order to the place. No rows or fences, no baskets, barrels, or attendants as far as either Emi or Nysa could tell. The smell of the orchard itself only got stronger as they got nearer, carried on the wind as before, the leaves twisting this way and that higher in the trees and taking the sting out of the noon heat.

Nysas face absolutely lit up at the rather serene and gorgeus scene. The trees gently swayed from the noon breeze, making all of their goodies sway alluringly, seemingly calling out to the Kitsune, from her perspective atleast. Nysa stopped a moment to let the sight sink in "Oh~ pretty." the kitsune smiled happily at her companion and rushed off to the nearest tree.

Over the years the Kitsune had gotten qutie adept at climbing trees, so getting up the closest apple-tree was a matter of mere moments. Her tail being the only telltale sign of someone in the tree, though it too quickly disappeared between the leaves. Only the rummaging of leaves and the occasional sound of a broken twig showing signs of Kitsune going wild up there.

Emi stomach growled as the tantalizing smell of the fruit just now hit her far less sensitive nose. While they where far from the best trail rations they where still better than nothing. Still the fruit didn't belong to them and she was in enough trouble with the local law already. Looking on as Nysa rampaged in the orchard Emi hoped dearly that it wasn't owned by anyone who would mind missing a few apples though the amusing though of it being owned by the magistrate did bring a brief smile to the samurai to bad Nysa had missed it.

Taking a good look around before caving in and grabbing a few apples for herself she sighed at her desperate situation. Walking back to the road Emi pondered what to do next. She had no clue to where this desert was but maybe if they followed the river they would find someone who dose. Still it sounded like a long journey on foot and her utter lack of supplies still worried her. "What if the river parts before we hit the desert? Six apples will not last long even if I do some hunting along the way. Maybe we can find a town and do some work to earn some coin." Speaking softly to herself Emi waited for her companion to make herself known bracing just in case she wanted another piggy back ride. Counting six apples Emi soon called out to her companion. "Nysa grab some for the road we should get moving."

Keeping an eye out for trouble before heading back to the road with the lootz

Unlike Emi, Nysa was well fed and didn't, even for a moment consider whatever troubles awaited the broke and supplyless girls. All that matter at the moment was that humongous great big red apple at the very edge of the branch. And ofcourse the path to the glorious prize was made completely of the most fragile and unstable branches the tree had, but such a minor nuisance would not discourage the Kitsune!

Moments later and a loud crack later, Nysa found herself on the floor. The huge apple still looking mockingly down at the girl. Thankfully the Kitsunes natural talent for wind magic completley negated whatever damage or injury she could've possibly brought on herself, thus she wasted no time to get back to her feet.

The apple would be hers, but this time it had incurred the Kitsunes wrath. It shall rain apples today! Violent winds slowly formed around Nysas hands as she lightly stuck her tongue out aiming at the biggest concentration of apples on the tree. Either the apples would fly off into the air, or the whole dang tree would take a flight moments later.

Nysa casts Gust on the trees upper body.

Emi heard the loud crack and quickly rushed back to the tree she say Nysa last. Surpressing a chuckle at the fallen kitsune Emi began to turn around when a strong gust of wind began to stir the branches above her. Turning back to Nysa she could see the fox like shugenja obviously up to no good her eyes locked onto a very large red apple. "Nysa! Nysa! stop before you bring the whole tree down!" The kitsune either didn't hear her or was obviously ignoring her which only caused Emi to scowl in annoyance. Taking Warriors Reach her naganta Emi skillful cut the large apple free letting it free fall hopefully causing it to land on Nysa's head.

Spoilsport >,<

'BONK' seemed the trees dreams of flight would have to wait, as the huge apple fel right down the Kitsunes head. Thankfully interupting her previous plans, otherwise chances were that Emi would've went on the slight trip right along with the trees.

Nysa quickly dispersed the violent winds around her hands and looked up between her ears where the apple lodged itself. "Thanks Emi!" the girl grinned innocently and bowed slightly the apple holding itself firmly in her hair. Afterwards the Kitsune grabbed her prize and gleefully nibbled on the round goodness that graced her.

Obviously Nysa wasn't going to help with collecting or goodness forbid actually carrying the apples. The samurai girl was on her own with actual supply aquisition on this one. Though to be fair, seemed Nysa started trailing Emi with her eyes curiously, chances are she'd follow her along peacefully for some time till she makes up her mind on her companion.

Emi looked down on the shaken bounty and sighed. "Well no point in letting them go to waste on the ground." Picking up as many good apples as her pack would allow Emi hoped this was the last hijinks of the day. "We should get moving Nysa. Following the river should at lest give us fresh water for some time. Do you know of any small towns along the river?" Doubting the spastic fox girl would even remember Emi stayed true to her plans and followed the river hopefully the rest of the day would be uneventful but deep down inside Emi already knew that it probably wasn't the case.

Before either of them made a move to leave the orchard, apples in hand, Nysa was poked lightly in the back of the head with what looked to be a simple blackthorn cane, being held by a small, old man, standing upside down on one of the tree branches. "Are you so eager to eat an apple, that you would destroy that which created it? Would you really do something so foolish? He asked quietly, simply dropping to the ground in front of the Kitsune and glaring at her. He was shorter then her by a full head with a long white beard and shocking amber eyes. His features were as weathered as the bark on any of the trees and his voice was soft and lilting, as if every word was sighed out with regret.

His clothing matched his appearance, a deep emerald green from his breaches to his tunic to his odd stove pipe hat that seemed a little worse for wear and he leaned on his cane as if the stick was the only thing keeping him on his feet. Turning to look at Emi, he smiled. Cleverness is rewarded and its bounty well earned, But.... Brute force and ignorance will lead only to destruction Little One... he said turning back to Nysa, glaring with those disturbingly vibrant eyes.

He waited patiently for a response to his statement, as if it was a question that demanded answering, as if the entire world would wait until his words were returned to him and that they had no say in the matter what so ever. And indeed, if they turned to leave, they would find they didn't, the little old man simply popping into existence in front of them, without a sound, still leaning on his cane and looking between the two.

Nysa was about to finish up her apple when she felt a light poke on her head. The Kitsune looked up from where the bonks originated and much to her surprise an old man stood upside down and looked down at her. The girls eyes widened at the sight as she quickly stood up and turned to the man who after scolding the Kitsune of her intentions promtly jumped right down. 'Destroy?' Nysa innocently pointed at herself as if wanting confirmation that the man was indeed cross with her, though his gazes answered the question rather quickly.

Annoyed at the accusations of ill will Nysa placed her hands on her hips and actually started scolding the mystic man right back "Nysa didn't want to hurt the tree, stoopid!" as if to make a point the girl forcefully pointed up the tree at a rather large array of apples "Nysa wanted to pick some apples, stoopid old man! Stupid, stupid!" and just to show how mature she was about the whole accusation Nysa childishly stuck her tongue to the man. Who was he to scold the girl for picking apples!...via the use of some magic.

Emi wanted to interject and calm Nysa down before she angered what ever spirit this was that lived in the orchard but she found herself with a loss for words. Every time she went to say something she stopped herself unable to come up with anything that would appease either one of the verbal combatants. Maybe a scolding from an mystical creature would do Nysa some good but judging by the stance the fox woman had she very much doubted it.

Status: Emi: Hp: 52 Ep: 39 Pp: 39, Fine.
Nysa: Hp: 42 Ep: 67 Pp: 74, Fine.

"Did you consider that these trees may belong to someone? Someone who doesn't appreciate thievery~?" He shot at the Kitsune, his old eyebrows creasing as his frown deepened. "That spell would have damaged the tree to sate your Hunger. Thank your friend, She's saved you today." He said quietly turning to leave, simply shimmering out of existance with his first step, as gone as quietly as he had appeared.

Hopefully Nysa would appreciate the warning, but there was no telling. Regardless, the tree itself reached down to smack the Kitsune on the rear with a sharp crack, one last trick from the old man it seemed as the branches continued to sway in an unnatural manner.

Emi palled at the sight of the tree reaching down to whack the kitsune's butt and briefly looked at the apples in her bag. Where they safe? Still she hoped Nysa wouldn't take offense to the spanking but given her limited knowledge of her companion Emi doubt that this little slight would go unpunished. "Nysa we should leave this place I do not wish to be attacked by an entire forest." Quickly as humanly possible Emi made her way to the road and prayed for the first time in a very long time that the kitsune followed her

As the old man turned away the Kitsune quickly abused the opportunity to make some silly faces at the mans back till he finally disappeared from sight. The Kitsune grinned widely looks like that she won t-- *SLAP* Nysa even slightly jumped up from fright of the sudden impact, quickly turning around only to see the branch return up to join it's kin.

Well the Kitsune did get quite the tasty treat from the tree so she was going to let that slide with only cute frowned face and a gently kick to the tree. Nevertheless it was best to move along, who knows when the old goat would return... With cute stompy steps Nysa made her way towards Emi. She was about to join her, but just out of principle the girl made a quick stop to grab a few extra apples. Unless the tree would try to do something funny Nysa would go along with Emi, to wherever the samurai decided they should stop.

Re: Brushfires and Blades (ranger and Ubberific) GMed by Courage Wolf

Grabbing apples proved near impossible since the trees tauntingly lifted them out of the way, the one she kicked audibly growling at her menacingly, the bark shaking as the branches arched back threateningly. It was clear it was no longer a friendly orchard, the trees possessing far more life then the average apple tree. If Nysa didn't turn her back on the orchard quickly she would find an apple hurled at her with amazing force to smash on the ground, the trees making something perfectly clear. The Master of the Orchard was unhappy, they were unhappy. Emi however was met with a branch laden with fruit which fell gently to the ground next to her, a thank you for stopping the wierd little fox girl from doing anything more rash.

The road continued to move with the river, everything gentle and relaxing with nothing of real interest, the surrounding area being beautiful as always and the sound of the river moving and the birds chirping happily in the area proving to be a marvelous backdrop to everything around them. The river seemed to be teeming with fish, and several squirrels were chittering angrily at each other on the ground nearby over some fallen acorns, all was right with the world it seemed.

"So tell me Nysa where are you from and... If you don't mind me asking what are you?" Looking back at her shorter companion Emi tried to figure out what type of person she had been forced to share a punishment with. After all it seemed like they might be stuck this way for awhile at lest. Shuddering a little remembering the words of their punisher Emi tried to push the frightful images aside while she waited for Nysa to answer.

Nysa stuck her tongue out at the orchard once more "Meanies!" and turned away to walk off in a proud and snotty manner. Though much to her surprise Emi was nigh-bombarded with the fruits. The Kitsune shut her mouth tight in envy and just silently eyed Emi, instantly looking away if the girl would look back. She continued her envious silence for quite some time...

"So tell me Nysa where are you from and... If you don't mind me asking what are you?" the Kitsune looked at Emi, then at her bountiful backpack of apples, but remained silent. Obviously she was unhappy at the orchards disposition and Emi's reward.

Noting the silence and knowing far to well what idle spastic hands where capable off Emir tried to get the fox woman's attention. "Well Nysa I think we where very lucky today. We could have been sold into slavery or executed. Not to mention the tree spirit let you off with warning. If we had been in my homeland he probably would have eaten us or worse." She hoped the fox girl would perk up her ears in curiosity and ask some questions but as the silence seemed to continue Emi spoke again. "So Nysa what do you think that old shugenja ment by to acomplish by sending us to the desert?"
