Re: Labcoax - 2d H-platformer

Isn't there another lab based game in the works? Not to take this off topic or anything, this game just reminded me of it.
The one by nekomeme ? It kinda reminded me of that too.

Re: Labcoax - 2d H-platformer

Well i just tried this short demo/game example/proof of concept, and i've got to say i like it so far...Nice idea, nice sprites(pixelated sprites in an H game give it a sort of a retro charm, and it does look nice),and i hope that it will continue to go in the same direction...

As for the future content and stuff i think that the author of the game should create what comes to his mind and what he wants to create first,so that he can see what he's comfortable with making and what he's not...Well i've got nothing more to add...

The sounds you are using are great! Did you record them yourself or find a pre-made pack somewhere?
Used this handy link to generate 8-bit'ish sound effects, then edited further with an audio editor:-

Yeah it kinda reminded me of that too.

I'm seeing a lot of suggestions. Now that's not a bad thing as it gives me an idea of the things the H-community wishes to see in a H-game. The futa conversation was intriguing.

It's lab.

Why not make the futa situation be where it's a parasite attached.
And you much find the medicine or do something to other female staff personals x amount of time. :p

The whole futa thing seems to be gettin a lot more attention than it probably should at this point ._. He still has to make the game first ya know?

I would like to suggest that you use different sex positions for different monsters and all that. I really hate when games give the exact same animations for every monster in the entire game X(

Also, one thing that bothered me was that when the slime got you, it didn't really do anything... "slimy" ya know? It just kinda sat there. So I think having more natural animations for specific monsters you use would probably make it look more appealing.

Found another bug! If you're knocked down by a slime and fall into the next room, you can't get up. Pressing control to knock yourself down again fixes it though.

Positions don't change all that much do they? Will be looking into producing some particle effects. Perhaps after that I can make the slime appear a tad slimy'er with added effects. Hopefully also my spriting gets better in the long run.

I can't seem to produce that bug. Odd. Probably already fixed it without myself realizing.

Oddly, I can't get it to do it anymore either. I'll play around with it and see if I can get it to happen again.

On a semi-related note, can anyone tell me why gamemaker games runs ludicrously slow on my computer if it has been running for awhile? If I just booted or restarted my computer, they run fine, but after an hour or two, they somehow become extremely slow.

Confirmed, mine does this too.

Looking forward to more on this game :)

Since the author is too modest to post it ( :p ), the demo was updated.
+ new enemy
+ more defined background

Go and get it, it's a job worth of support.

@datanony: the protagonist won't ever get completely naked?

Probably with the newer enemies that are to come.

I've updated the first post with the link to the v0.2 update. I didn't do very extensive testing with this update, so once again, if there are bug or glitches, inform me

I never did much tilesets, so this is one of the first few I've put together. I think it looks decent.

I don't thinks its been mentioned yet, but if possible I feel like the escape bar needs to be the top priority layer. I consider any mechanics like that part of the HUD and don't think they should be covered by the game field.

Noted! I forgot to put the HUD up a couple of layers when I put the slopes onto the foreground.

Actually contemplating on whether to re-upload this update with the bug fixes and minor UI fixes.

EDIT #1: A question I missed. Has anyone been unable to open v0.2?

New version opened and ran just fine for me. Didn't notice any bugs either, granted I wasn't really trying to produce any.

Re: Labcoax - 2d H-platformer

There's been cases of people seeing just lines and blocks whenever the launched v0.2, as if the resources stopped loading halfway. My guess is that I didn't export it right in GM: Studio, so I've made a re-upload.

In the re-upload, along with AI tweaking for the 'Slimehead', the window is now re-sizeable for those who don't fancy full-screen mode. Help me test out the re-upload. Hopefully it runs fine for everyone now.

EDIT: Oh look it's my 15th post.

Re: Labcoax - 2d H-platformer

Checked the re-up, everything runs great on my end. The art and animation style reminds me of a more actiony Flashback(old side-scrolling adventure game. I played it on SNES, though I'm pretty sure it came out on PC and Genesis as well). This is a good thing. I look forward to seeing where this goes in the future.

Hey datanony, could you add a link to your blog in your signature? I keep having to reach it through Kyrieu's blog, and it would be nice to have a shortcut.

I loved the second enemy you added! I was thinking it would be good if the normal slimes had a way to jump, because currently being on a higher platform is a free win.
