I actually prefer the short one...it looks cuter, but I will respect what the creator wants :D

Re: Kyrieru's new game!

Without trying to diss on anyone's preferences, I'm honestly surprised people preferred the chibi, lower-res sprites. As far as the H content goes, higher resolution is typically better (Until it gets into uncanny valley strangeness). But also, when I think chibi I think cute, just like many those above me are saying. But I don't see cute the same as sexy, and I'm typically not as interested in H-games with 'cute' characters. I guess I'm also not into Loli anyway.

Re: Kyrieru's new game!

I'd argue its probably just because people are already familiar with the chibi-animations

I'll just wait for some of the new animations, they're probably going to be much better. Again, I think its just because of the bulky suit which is more pronounced this time, probably will look much better once she's lost some of her clothes.

^This actually.

While I love seeing a girl using a (suit/armor/mech suit, you name it), the bulky suit...looks kind of weird. Probably will get better when I'm used to it and seeing it in action and 'action' ;)

Well, it is weird. But it's a bit closer to the original concept, and I think it looks a little more unique. The overall "balance" is sort of inspired by Marina from Mischief makers.

Underneath the suit she's much slimmer. I'm still sort of deciding what her default breast size will be, since it can be changed during the game.

I think the problem with the new design is that she doesn't look sexy at all?

While the chibi version manage to be cute.

Personally I prefer her newer look quite a bit, I rather like how the outfit looks on a larger sprite and how reminiscent of Mischief Makers it is.

I'm going to say I like the new look. It's not to say I didn't enjoy the H-Scenes in the demo but I think the new look....looks great. :)

I like both of the designs, myself. Obviously tastes will differ, but I'd hate for it to be changed because some people didn't think it was attractive (though I'm biased and get bored more easily with the typical girls a lot of H-games have).

Unique as in?

Also yes, not saying she looks bad...probably just need to get used to it :D

You know, I liked the shorter one a bunch better although I can understand and definitely respect the author for changing their minds, since that is a lot of work. I dunno, I really like the cutesy styled characters and rape is kind of a kinky contrast to them, and you don't see them as often either. I'm sure the newer one has more mainstream appeal, though.
I say that while looking at both designs pretty much at the same time, for the first time since I haven't paid much attention to the project (not that I'm not excited, it's just not playable yet!~)

Re: Kyrieru's new game!

I fucking hate chibi design. But I like Kyrieru's style more than I hate chibi, so I've enjoyed and repped all his games. I doubt that Noaika would have been any different, had its development concluded with Kyrieru having chosen to stick with the chibi sprites.

That being said, I'm extremely pleased to see him move upward and onward. Chibi is an extremely limiting style of art, one often employed to save animators time and money (much like pixel art). I'm excited to see what he's capable of doing with a larger canvas, so to speak.

ESPECIALLY WITH THARJA BECAUSE SHE'S JUST A SCENE GIRL + MAGIC.

I've never even played Fire Emblem. I'm just so attracted to that punk-derivative archetype of girl that I found and became fixated on her anyway. And also Real Mayer (aka Re-L Mayer).

Unique as in the shape of the suit differentiates it from most combat suit designs (Skin-tight, megaman-esque, etc)

@erobotan: As for it not looking sexy, I generally design characters the same way I would if I were making a mainstream game. I prefer designs that are cool or interesting over designs that are inherently sexual in nature.

Which is funny to say, because even in terms of sex appeal I find the concept of a character like Samus in armor sexier than Zero-suit samus. For me personally, a practical and competent character losing armor is a far more interesting situation than a character wearing skin-tight clothing that's inherently sexual to begin with. (Of course, that's not to say that I don't like sexual characters sometimes too.)

Oh my goodness does it feel like this is rare in smut games. Not only do soo many f-protagonist games start you as a character who is a turboslut (which kind of underminds the h-mechanics of many of those games), but even more common than that protagonists in skimpy clothes. How many games out there -don't- have a female protagonist that wears skintight clothing or skirts/dresses? Even in games with clothing destruction, which have the least reason of all to have "serious" characters wear ridiculous outfits, it seems really rare. I think it's kind of bad design when you have to be as obnoxious as possible with your characters to try and be erotic.

ps classic samus > slut samus

Re: Kyrieru's new game!

Hello Kyrieru. I actually like your character designs the way they are. But then, again, in your future games, I also wouldn't mind for example, hmmm... some adventurer girl with a sword, wearing a belly baring top, dressed like that because she's just in a very hot climate. Or a thief. Or a pirate. Or a witch in a skirt that when damaged shows her panties when jumping down :D Don't know. Not every heroine has to be in heavy armor just because that offers the logically biggest possible protection. Sometimes, the mobility can be their weapon :) (and don't tell me the armor gives her super-speed, because you know what I mean :p)

Just between the characters who won your weekly animations, you have Shantae and Fio who provide some good examples. Sure their designs have some sexy aspects but they are not oversexualized in such an overblown manner like some H-game heroines.

Simply said, for me: Yuffie from FF7 -> just right, Quiet from MGS5 -> too much. It's not that I could not like a design that is basically just two pieces of underwear (for example if you made a game about some kind of female Tarzan :D), but the torn leggings on Quiet - which make absolutely no sense except for fanservice - break it for me. But, if I knew she's in a game with clothing damage, was originally dressed in something that makes sense, but she ended up like that because she was just almost raped by ninjas, that'd be a different story :D

Re: Kyrieru's new game!

I actually prefer the newer design, but I can see why people prefer the older chibi style.

I want to play this as both a Video game and a Hentai game, so better H visuals is a plus in my book, but many people (including myself) like the pixelated action.

To me, the new character could lose the extremely square shoulder things. They are a bit of a throw off, though, since she loses her armor for H-scenes, i guess it doesn't matter.

To be fair, some games actually have storyline reasons, legitimate ones, why the characters are skimpily dressed; those are few and far between, of course, but they are there. :p

Re: Kyrieru's new game!

Pretty much. Prime example, in Noaika, the protagonist doesn't start the game in armor anymore. Though that's not the same as say, being in rags because the character is in a prison..

@JAB: What is it that you don't like about the shoulder pads in particular? The fact that they're square, or something else? Or, how do you imagine the original sprite's shoulder pads?
