Is there any translation for the options menu?
I finally defeated all bosses! On normal difficulty anyway.
What an awesome (and hot, Roland's a beauty!) game.
I haven't enjoyed a game (where I couldn't understand anything) this much since Nightmare Sphere.
I thought I would leave some tips, particularly for those who can't read Japanese:
- Read this thread! You'll find out how to start a new game, set the menus to English, and the most important parts of the plot. Plus a lot of gameplay tips.
- Don't worry about crafting if you don't want to. At least in normal difficulty it's not necessary. The gear you find lying around, or for sale from the dwarf and cat, is good enough to beat all bosses.
- Know thyself: Roland is quite powerful, right from the start, if you master when to use her powers and what each does. Also things like not letting yourself be surrounded and using the right stance in different situations can make a huge difference in battle.
- After mastering the game mechanics, the most important thing is your gear (as others have already mentioned). Roland's level isn't as important as the level and type of gear you have equipped.
- You can try to craft or find the perfect weapon, or you can do what I did: carry one for (almost) every situation. I didn't want to worry about ammo so I went melee-only. I carried one of each of the following: serpent's fang for snakes and dragons, athame knife for devils, claymore for beasts, bone saw for undead, jade blade for elementals (including the "final" boss!) and rapier (with anti-humanoid essense) for everything else (plus). Abuse quick-swap!
- Carry a Berry of life and/or Elixir for emergencies. After that, carrying food is more important than healing/relaxing potions. Particularly on long dungeon trips. Also about those long trips: repairer's scrolls are a must if you're going to clear many levels! They also restore your weapon and armors completely, so they are vital; have a spare bunch in your chest if you can.
- Repairing an item is what gives it xp (not counting scrolls). Only after an item has accumulated enough xp the dwarf will offer to upgrade/reinforce it. So you have to use whatever you want leveled (unless you find lots of scrolls anyway).
- A few punish or hypno scrolls can bring any room full of enemies to its knees. Carry a couple for safety (or 3-4 to face bosses without worries). Wands (chaos/witch hunter/hypnos) can be even more important against bosses.
- Like with crafting, you don't need to worry that much about gear slot count if all you're trying to do is beat the bosses on normal. Most of the stuff I carried only had one or two slots, only my rapier had 3 slots.
- Regarding accessories, I recommend either my favorite one, artificial core (lowers mana costs), or clock engine (increases damage).
- My favorite "brace" was the bracer: great durability and very high physical defense.
Good luck!

It's like garter belt and long socks, my PC doesn't leave home without it.clock engine (DragonPaladin favourite)
Each time you are entering a door, you get a set of kanji of the destination of the door. Requires reading the kanji to know where you are heading toward. You will probably need a map (it's here in the thread somewhere buried very deeply) otherwise. There was another thing I never got. What determines where I end up?
There was an update on 24th. Something new for the game or just some bug fixed as usual ?
Nice to see new players on this game every now and then. A few additions to propose for your comments:
1. Level does make a difference. With higher levels HP, MP and some stats like endurance plus number of attacks per turn increase (although a plateau is reached at some point).
2. Your approach to weapons mirrors mine, but I use far more and prefer the elemental approach rather than the anti-enemy essence approach. For the headless count, a granite blade with anti-undead/anti-fey essence is doable at melee range. In my case, 4-slot limbfire (Fire3/Silver/Knockback/Stun) with silver/plasma ammunition takes out the count once I line him up.
3. With the latest build, using scrolls to repair damaged items in the field does count when visiting the blacksmith to check for upgrade eligibility.
4. Wands for single enemies, scrolls for a whole screen of them. Be careful when using wands other than sleep against the headless count...
5. Common consensus for the accessory slot is either the clock engine (DragonPaladin favourite), amber pendant (one can never have enough HP) or the rosary (my choice, vitality lasts longer to the point food items become luxuries which I can dispose of at will)
6. The bracer gives good defence, but the boost isn't as high per upgrade level compared to the crafted armours. I'd advise players to pick silver cuffs (dexterity and magic resistance) or the gold bracelet (for the all important strength attribute increase).
A note to new and existing players: The 3HP error has returned because countries employing daylight savings have turned the clocks forward. Switch to a different time zone (Japan is one) to solve the problem or the game will not start.
A nice summary to help people like me who gave the game up early.
There was another thing I never got. What determines where I end up?
I usually go to a seemingly random number of floors per dungeon to either end up where I started or at another more or less random place (although there seems to be at least an order) and never faced a boss besides Wild Hunt who died by raping me.
Hi Harleyquin13!
Thanks for your response! There was quite a bit I didn't know.
About your points:
1) Aha! So that's why near the end I was sometimes hitting more than once per turn even with the two handed weapons!
2) That sounds good too, though for me (not being able to read the elemental weaknesses of an enemy) that approach would be harder. BTW, that gun sound like it could crush anything regardless of what weaknesses it may have
3) Nice, being able to use repair scrolls without a penalty
4) Yep, I almost screw up my fight with the count because I used a chaos wand a couple of times after running out of sleep charges.
5) That's very interesting! I didn't know about the rosary. Does vitality last longer because "indurance" is increased? Or is the increased vitality a separate bonus? I skipped the rosary because I thought "indurance" was only for protecting against sexual attacks.
6) I was actually very tempted by those two items. Unfortunately I didn't have much luck finding/buying good armor during my playthrough, so I used the bracer to pick up the slack in the AC department.
When it comes to rape, I just F12. The only time I didn't do that is for Belle since there's a specific sequence to get an essence from her. In that case, I have to new game+ afterwards. You CAN lose with vitality remaining during rape, this normally happens when you climax too often. It's not that common though.
5) The rosary reduces the rate in which your vitality goes from 100% to 0%. It's also one of the few items that increases 我慢, nice when you accidentally step on the rape trap.
That map you've posted is really old but still useable.

Against multiple enemies, sometimes it's really easier to endure the rape rather than to resist. There are some conditions which stop resisting from giving you back a turn. Also, if you acquire one of the negative sexual passive traits, you acquire the "accept" ability where the PC tries to satisfy the rapist faster, sometimes better than resisting if the enemy is too strong to defeat the regular way.
After beating the game once (or even before that) what you want to build your PC into post-game is where all the fun is. (That and collecting all the essence)
