Well I wouldn't quite think of Lucille as disposable. Carry and other valks have the same sortie refund for retreating, and yet we still use them as our main duelists throughout the map. I think it's just a bonus for her rather than meant to make her a temporary unit.
Templars are great, can't wait to see their awakenings. A lot of classes without awakenings atm. Still waiting on Ricca >.>

Wow, my mouse died, and the one that I kept for such an emergency was dead. So, I've been reduced to using "Mouse Keys" to play Aegis. Everything about Mouse Keys annoys me; the highest sensitivity and acceleration settings are too slow. The "Ctrl+Numkey" to skip would work if it skipped at 1/2 or a 1/3 of the amount it does skip, but it just skips way too far, so I have to manually adjust all of the time.
Interestingly, I learned that Aegis doesn't accept actual mouse clicks with "5". Instead, it registers click-and-drag for its input. This actually makes Mouse Keys extremely awkward, since I have to click "0" to select something, and then make sure I select "." to reset it, so I can use "0" again.
I've been doing the Subjugation Mission all right, but I'm quite worried about the penultimate event map, though I only have to activate Nanaly's skill once, and Aria's skill a couple times (maybe my team is OP enough that I can use a simpler, less aggressive strategy).
In any case, if someone is bored and wants to experience my pain, try out "Mouse Keys" (If you use Windows, it can be found in the Ease of Access section of the Control Panel). Ugh...

Eating event unit with three fairies gives as much exp as eating eight event units. You get plat fairies from phalanx 2 at an average rate of 1 per 15 stamina (or per 12 staimna for fairy rescue high tier). With 12 stamina maps you can get exactly 1 event unit per 12 stamina, so in time you get three plat fairies you would have gotten 3 event units. So in terms of raw exp you get double the exp from farming event units + fairies when compared to farming only event units.
This comes however with number of problems:
a) Farming fairies is an extremely wild horse and you will get a lot of variation
b) You also want cost downs and skillups, by going the fairy way you consume only one-forth of event units.
c) I usually value event secondary drops more than affection items / other fairies.
I could move on with the list, but I will focus on that only if it is not clear at this point what I am pointing at. One could say that you can farm units and farm fairies later on, but later on is always a new event and rarely there is stamina to spare.
At this point I would prefer to eat event units raw than with plat fairies. But there is also an option to eat them with silver fairies. With 60% drop rate you get 7 of them for 12 stamina, each has value of 80% of event unit!
tl;dr; plat fairies are too rare and too valuable, I need them for plat armors. Eating silver fairies with event units gives you a very nice xp boost, while only cutting the actual consumption by less than 2/3
After facing this problem every event I think the correct answer is to not use platinum fairies. In my playing career I never had more platinum fairies that I could use straight away. It is easier to have surplus plat cans than fairies. Also - gold has not been a factor for me for a long time.

Agree with most of this BUT, in cases where u really like the unit, u should keep her copies and wait for a completion (stars) event. On those events u can freely farm for fairies and use them on the previous event unit.

The problem is - if you really like the unit, you want to max her out and are willing to spend crystals on it. And since we are talking about farm event type, you don't know how many you need, before you consume them. Having said that - yeah, I presented only a general scenario, there always be more specialized cases.

If there is unit you really like - you want to make sure it will me min cost and nice skill lvl so you want to eat her copies during the event (and farm more if you can't max cost reduce). I would use my plat fairies in such situations (what I do during this event 2 Lucille + 2 plat fairies since I am low on plat fairies).
There are a few units I was eating without fairies - I had good high lvl replacement so I had no pressure to lvl new girl fast but I really wanted to min cost her... My Maribelle was around lvl 45 after the event (-4/5). My Belinda is unfortunately lvl 35 this way...

Shinryuu's Egg is really hard without a mouse. I realised that the amount of time I spend trying to activate Aria's and Nanaly's skill is so wasteful that I can't deploy any ranged units on the right-most island because the ranged enemies will kill them before I can tediously reach for either a lightning rod unit, or my other Saint.
I did two trips, and some enemies spilled out on both visits (2 and 3), and I don't know which ones drop the soldier or heavy armour, so I'm worried about that. I got Lucille and a plat armour to drop on my second trip (Lucille: 8; Plat: 2; Soldier: 0; Heavy: 1). I'm going to have to figure out how I can stop everything without wasting time trying to activate Aria's skill with Maribelle, Jelius, Berenice, Aria, and maybe Rosalie catching as many enemies as possible before my new mouse arrives in the mail.
As for event units. With the exception of Odette and Hana, I have always focused on obtaining at least 14 extra copies before the event ends for units I liked. I don't want to waste money on the RNG, and I haven't had any problems using Maribelle at -2 cost, or Flan at 5/10 skill.
For free players, it's much more sensible to have a unit at 50CC50 that you can use right away than one at LV30~ at mincost and skill 10/10 that you need to dedicate more time and resources to level up so they can contribute. Despite having Hores at mincost and skill max, I didn't feel any inclination to use her; I already had Charlotte at 50CC53 from feeding her copies from her event (mine was at mincost and skill 6/10). So far, farming 14+ copies has granted me a mincost unit in all cases except for Waltz, who wound up at -4 7/10, and Maribelle, who wound up at -2 5/5. I spent way too many resources on Maribelle trying to 'fix' her, but instead the RNG wanted to screw with me by making all 8 copies of her fail their 25% reductions on her second revival.
The same goes for base summoning; I'm not going to bother with wasting my gold purposefully on it unless I need iron units to CC someone. This way, I have a goal where I can stop, and avoid falling prey to any problems like a gambler who keeps digging themselves deeper and deeper into their losing streak.

Well, good points.
My "if u like the unit" is always bounded by a sensible amount of crystals and not "until I max her out".
As a free player I always prefer to wait and maximize the long term throughput. That means benching a unit for weeks until u can finally lvl her and give some affection without missing another interesting event.
It was hard at the beginning of course but it pays off.

If u cant run aegis on your phone, look for remote control apps. I'm pretty sure there are some apps to control your pc pointer using the phone screen.

When I first started out as a new player, I did not understand how people got their high level units so easily. It was common for me to feed a copy of a Platinum event unit immediately because of the cost reduction/skill increase chance. I just wanted a unit to be "finished" immediately instead of thinking where my team will end up weeks later. A lot of my time in the past few months was trying to get all my Platinum units to 50CC44 from 50CC20 with Bronze units. It takes a lot of time. Fun! It wasn't until I made myself more patient and held onto those extra copies until I obtain fairies.
Nowadays, I will be thinking, "If I can get 21 platinum fairies by the end of the month, then I can get [platinum event unit] to 50CC60 and be a valuable asset." I did a mistake once for this with Eliza and used every copy of her immediately, but I was able to do it with Emilia (50CC56). I'm patient enough to do it for Lucille as well. By the time I get enough Platinum fairies, she'll be 50CC50 or higher. No need for me to farm for bronze units. That means more bronze units to sell.

So how do you guys get the 30+ plat fairies to eat all your copies of event units? Do you wait for a unit you don't want and farm phalanx 2? Or you farm during star collection events? I can't imagine you are able to accumulate any significant amount of them from regular map drops...

PS. Current Subjugation mission is terrible. Previous one was awesome, and the snow wan was pretty good as well. Current one however is worst of them all - other than blue dragons and final deep ones push nothing happens and the map is terribly slow. There have been many great addition to Aegis recently, but this map is definitely not one of them.

Set aside some stamina per day to do challenge quests and spirit rescue dailies and you'll get enough fairies eventually. It's going to take some time, but patience is rewarded with a stronger unit. There are also other units to work on if you don't get the Platinum Fairies. It's probably why I have so many awakened Gold units and only one awakened Platinum unit.
If I can wait to feed copies of Platinum units, then I'm able to make better use of Bronze units. Instead of continuously feeding them to Platinum event units, I can feed them to silver units and prepare them for class changing. I can also sell them for gold.

Still can't figure out whether this dragon knight is actually good, or just really bad. She looks cute and all, but like the cost, the 1 block, is really putting me off. Welp, hope for awakening power boost I guess.

so you use most of your gold for base summoning instead of using it to feed bronze units?
Getting platinums to lvl 40 with bronzes isnt too hard I think I can do it in 1 day its getting them past 40 thats the problem takes far too many bronze units and tons of gold at that point. I think Im going to save event copies for fairies and get 14+ like petite does and carefully choose which black /platinum unit I use armors on probably ones I feel would very useful awakened or maxed out

My rule of thumb is, level the unit with bronzes till 30, feed 2 copies with 2 fairies to reach 50. After cc, level it with bronzes again to at least lvl 25, use copies and fairies depending on current availability.

I've played console games that are ports of PC games that were designed for mouse usage (i.e. Command & Conquer, Myst, etc.) with a regular directional keypad controller (no sticks), and that experience was way more enjoyable than Mouse Keys. I want whoever programmed Mouse Keys to be forced to use it for the rest of their lives—let them live in their own personal hell that they created until they go back and update it.

I generally have enough time to immediately raise a farm-event unit thanks to Gold Rushes with fairy drops, Trial Events, and Farm Events with crummy event units (e.g. Azami, Lita, etc.).

I generally have enough time to immediately raise a farm-event unit thanks to Gold Rushes with fairy drops, Trial Events, and Farm Events with crummy event units (e.g. Azami, Lita, etc.).
