Re: Akabur - Magic Shop

Man, I feel bad for Akabur, I counted at least 100 people who said they had pulled their funding from his patreon. Just this morning he was at 880 Patrons at $7732/mo. and now only half a day later he's already down to 883 patrons at $7778/mo.

If this keeps up I don't know how he'll ever keep going.
What are you? His cheerleader accountant?

A fool and his money, as people say. After the way this was released and this amazing display: ask.fm/AKABUR i don't understand how anyone who contributed any significant amount can feel anything but scammed.

Eight thousand dollars paycheck. 8. Nearly half the content of his previous "born out of love" labor. Ok then...

EDIT: Actually, why am i being so generous? This is more like a quarter of PTs content

Princess Trainer, I cannot get the last quest to unlock. Is there something I am missing? "The Favorite Customer"
Buy every other dress first. Come back a few times to talk to her. If she offers to talk to you naked, you got it.

I'll keep trying then. I have everything and I keep using talk. I will try it multiple times in a row.

(I tried spamming it and nothing is working for me)

Is it just me or is Mega.co.nz broken right now? I can't get anything not to do Decryption Error. Regardless of browser or device.

The game is fine, not as expansive as Princess Trainer though. I understand the disappointment though as it's definitely shorter.

Princess Trainer 1.0 was a LOT less expansive than the current 1.02. I assume that by "Witch Trainer 1.2" most of the issues will be fixed. If you remember, the original version of Princess Trainer had no quests, achievements, and far less scenes.

Erm, it's been quite a while since last I played it. Never had a quest bug out on me. I think this quest unlocks even before the last reply I posted. Have you unlocked all Jasmine's dresses ? The Iris and Lola quests to make them a brothel costume done ? Check everything related to costumes in all the quests, it'll probably clear itself in time.

I believe that is because most of the people complaining were not the people funding it in the first place. I still do not see unhappiness in the feedback on his Patreon page. If you actually contributed and have concerns about the game, you should be emailing Akabur or posting on Patreon. That is the feedback he should care about.

The game is solid, and if he adds to it like PT, it could be exceptional.

Lol 3k each ? The most expensive I saw was around 150-200 gold. Once you finish the game, you'll unlock the gallery tab on the title screen. Every scroll you bought in game gives you a concept art. (The amount shown on these makes you cry at all the stuff we're missing/got cut)

And to the ending dudes : end 01 is all hearts/meh public, ending 2 apparently needs the Waifu book ending and max public/probably max hearts too.

And lastly : no contextual sex scenes feels weird : I mean once you max everything, she won't bother much when you cum inside her but throws a fit that you jerked in front of her with her tits bare ...... Really ?

Well, I'd complain on his Patreon page, and I'm debating withdrawing my support. On the one hand, I saw it as an almost charitable donation, and he's always come across as grateful. On the other, I see this as substandard, and the whole point of Akabur switching to Patreon was that eliminating some of his money woes would allow him to focus on his work. Hermione Trainer was painted as an improvement on Princess Trainer, which can mean a lot of things, but in my mind none of those things are what we got.

On that ask.fm page, he says 1.01 is the final version, and implies that he won't be working on it any more. So he's apparently satisfied that he did enough to live up to his promises. I don't agree at the moment, and I'm not sure I want to continue rewarding him for efforts at this level.

The main reason I haven't said anything is that criticism is largely drowned out on his Patreon page. It's as much a hug-box as that ask.fm was a river of bile. A few of the threads started there have disappeared over the last couple of days, too. I'm not sure if that's him curating, people choosing to remove comments on their own, or Patreon cleaning up potential copyright issues.

Oh, and the reason the scrolls are 3,000 each is that you have the 1.0 version of the game. That's changed in 1.01.

Thank you for the well thought out response. I definitely can see what you are saying. I've also noticed that there are a few "enforcer" type people on Patreon that bash any criticizing comments. Of course, I think people need to criticize ON the Patreon page if they are truly unhappy. Akabur needs to see his funders are unhappy, not just some random kiddies who are not providing any monetary support anyways. My suggestion would be to email him at a minimum if you pull support and constructively tell him why. It may hurt his ego, but it is worse to say nothing.

I also agree with you, that my dissatisfaction will grow immensely if he is simply done with this game. The foundation is there for an exceptional experience. It is fun as-is, but it is almost painful to see how much more it could be with a bit more focus on the H-content. I am kind of in the middle overall, I like the game (love the dialogue and banter), but I can see why many would be unhappy with the amount of sex content. Can you imagine how awesome the public favor CGs could have been? :D

Re: Akabur - Magic Shop

I'll communicate with him when I figure out what to say, and after some time has elapsed. Assuming I don't forget. Right now, I think he's (understandably) feeling rather defensive about the whole thing. I don't want him to take the criticism the wrong way or to make him feel like I'm just piling on.

I needed a little time to think it over myself, frankly. My first instinct on finishing the game was to refer to it as a gyp, and to suggest if even 20% of my total patronage was the cost of buying a copy of this game, I overpaid. It has potential, but until the credits rolled, I kept trying to convince myself that the Ball had to be where the game actually begins. The How-To suggested 9 of something. I forget the exact language. However, I kept thinking it must add 6 more hearts and that's when she gets completely wild and crazy and the real content and CGs come out to play. Meanwhile, another train of thought would tell me that I'd bought everything and maxed out all the bonuses, so I should prepare to be disappointed.

Honestly, when I got to the end of Princess Trainer 1.02, I felt like there was some unfinished business, but I was suitably impressed. I wound up extracting the game files just to see if I'd missed anything small, even though I'd completed every quest, etc. With Witch Trainer, I extracted the game files to see if I'd somehow missed 90% of the game.

Re: Akabur - Magic Shop

Yes, the (topless) tutorial states we get 1of 9 random public favor conclusions, so far I think there's like 3 max per favor. The "solo-hearts" seem harder to get than maxing her in public. Once you get 3 hearts though, you can't "downgrade" them to see the initial-reluctant ones, just the mad-sex-crazy ones where she's just slutting out to get them and enjoys herself.

Re: Akabur - Magic Shop

As much as it'd be unfair for other people to call you out on liking this game, so too is it entirely silly for you to call people out on disliking it, especially when you seem to have taken little effort to understand why people are upset.

I'm not about to claim that the outrage is entirely justified, but you can be sure that when there's smoke, there's fire.

The game is arguably worse than PT, depending on what you're looking for in these types of games, and there are plenty of people who gave (much) more than 20$ for it through the donations, the result however is mediocre at best. Considering the considerable funds he received it's no stretch for people to think this is a simple bait and switch, especially when you look at how the game was pitched originally.

TL;DR: while you can argue that the outcry is not entirely reasonable, you can be sure there is at least a reason for it, and it's not really your place to decide whether or not those reasons are good enough, especially when you don't take the time to understand.
You're making an assumption that I made an assumption; how are you any more qualified to declare what the game's dissenters thought and why?

That being said, I never even argued that dissenters were WRONG about the game being sub-par. It is sub-par. It has countless bugs, defunct threads, and frustrating mechanics. I argued that complaining about the game's lack of polish was stupid, not that their negative evaluations were ill-conceived.

I covered why complaining about the game's lack of polish was dumb in my previous post. TL;DR: art takes time. Hundreds of people pressured Akabur to get that shit out the door, so it should not surprise anyone that his fledgling is struggling to fly.

Also keep in mind that this is the internet. When dealing with large numbers of people, safety actually does become an issue. I don't think it's possible for anyone to live with the knowledge that a large group of people has reason to be mad at you, without being a little nervous or having trouble being creative. What are the odds that 1 in those 1,000 people (totally arbitrary) are legitimately unstable, do you think? I'd wager he's received at least one death threat. Granted, most death threats are stupid 13 year olds, but when the numbers get big enough... It only takes one person to file a lawsuit against you, kill you, or just generally make your life hell.

Re: Akabur - Magic Shop

All of this kid glove treatment is kind of boggling my mind.

He's a grown ass man, not a pretty delicate flower. Is he not supposed to be familiar with the concept of work ethic? How can you look forward and expect quality things from him in the future if the people that paid him just let this slide? Don't you want at least an explanation? Something other then the brazen middle finger he gave everyone in that ask thing?

Benefit of the doubt stops being a benefit if it's a constant.

Re: Akabur - Magic Shop

I've never given him the benefit of the doubt before, really, because he's never disappointed me when I had anything more than vague hopes invested before.

It's not right that he should just respond to valid criticism with a middle-finger. It is a bit understandable, though. I sometimes get like that, and wish I could give people the finger*. As that's how he's currently responding, I'm certainly not going to bother. If, in a few days, he's still ignoring or being snarky to every criticism regardless of merit, then to hell with him.

*Although, in my line of work, I feel a bit more justified, since I largely work on requests from the people who will be using what I produce. If they say A when they mean B, and six-weeks of work turn out to be useless, I think I have every right to be a bit miffed when they try to blame me for missed deadlines.
