Re: [SLG] Jack-o-nine-tails

There is one more thing that bugs me at the moment. Today i checked game folder with pictures and I discovered set of scenes connected with spiders. I havent encountered spiders in game, let alone had a chance to make my slaves mate with them.
Is it not implemented yet or i just didn't trigger it?
There's arachno- phobia/phylia, so I think it was planned at least. Alas, they're not actually in the game, they seem more like relics to me.

how do i capture a fiend, IF im supposed to capture them?
i assumed the fiends were the tentacle thing that appears in random battles in the border of the fogs
Your assumption is correct. You can't capture mature fiends, though. You need to capture very young fiend, which can only be born. Seeing as you can not impregnate your current slave, the only option is to get slave you capture in the Fogs for yourself and let her give birth to a fiend. You'll lose that slave though (you've been warned, reread red message from the first post).

Now that I have an assistant and slave, I can't seem to patrol the fog place at all now. Is that supposed to be the case?
Not really. You can easily verify this by starting sandbox and buying slave at the market - you'll still be able to patrol. Are you sure that you have positive energy when you try to patrol? If you have no/red energy, you won't be able to do that.

Im just wondering:
How can you boost your physical ability? is it a good idea to do sparrings in the colosseum to get better at fighting? I want to survive more encounters at the borders of the fog.
Training gladiatrices will increase you sword skills, as well as winning fights in the Fog. But sparring at the Colosseum won't give you any experience, so that's not the best choice.

and for what is the greyed out button example of punishment?
If you have a prisoner, you'll demonstrate tortures to your slave using that prisoner.

and last but not least: does anybody know where to buy a whip/lash?
White town -> Trade square -> Manhunter's arsenal -> Weapons -> Secondary (Whip) or One-handed (Knout).

Are you currently translating more of the game? If so, what is the ETA of the next translation patch? Thanks.

Hm... ETA for the next translation patch is about... right now, I guess? You won't be getting ETA for further patches though, because there are no time table for it, I just translate it when I have free time and right mood.

So, anyway, here we go:

So, let's see. An update log, huh?
English translation, v0.3.
+ pretty much all slave reactions are translated
- text of interactions (e.g. reward and punishment, etc.) are yet to be translated
+ objectives screen translated (if you go to Central forum, you'll find special quests there - those are displayed on the objective screen)
+ random encounter during patrolling translated - now you will know who you are going face in battle
+ some parts, which I missed in previous update - namely Guild, taking drugs at home, slave fights back message, captured slave message

= QSP Download link:

P.S. Just to remind you, a newer version is incompatible with your previous saves. And yeah, updated first post with this info

For next update I'm planning to translate some named NPC dialogues (heck, I planned it for this update, but that was too much for me to do in one go, so... yeah), races in Colosseum (at least interface for them and basic dialogue with stableman) and... well, dunno, some other stuff which has high priority. If you think there is a part of the game which is gamebreaking without translation - be sure to write about it, I'll change my priorities (well, not like I care about what part I should translate first).

Oh, and there's another thing - there's this guy, who've made kind of graphic overhaul for interface of JoNT. Not much of it done yet, just some main images and screens, but it looks quite nice. You can download it . To install it just copy archive to Jack-o-nine-tails and extract it there. If you want to make a backup - copy folders "content/pic/bg" and images "content/pic/bg/bg.jpg", "content/pic/bg/bg_fight.jpg", "content/pic/bg/bg_main.jpg" and "content/pic/bg/bg_stat.jpg".

As another notice, I wanted to remind you people - please ask links via PM, not by posting here in the thread.

Great work translating most of the necessary things, too bad I'll have to redo all my progress with the ultra hard slaver. On the bright side, I'll know what to do next time around.

Another question. I tried selling my slave to one of the residents (Enchanter rank D) but he didn't buy it.

Thanks for taking the time for translating the game, it is quite interesting.
May I request that you try to find and translate the real estates housing descriptions when you can?

It would be nice to know what kind of house you're checking out/buying.
Then again there are probably more important things to translate before that.

Yeah, I have the same issue when trying to sell my slaves to the residents in various areas.

They appear to have the proper rank, and training, but nothing happens when I click the sell button.

Only place I have managed to sell a slave was at the Slavers' Guild :/

I just translate it when I have free time and right mood.
I first just want to say that it's awesome that you're taking the time to make this available to all of us! There are probably a ton of small foreign games that never reach most of us because of the language barriers.

If you think there is a part of the game which is gamebreaking without translation - be sure to write about it, I'll change my priorities (well, not like I care about what part I should translate first).
While not necessarily gamebreaking, I would definitely consider the requirements for the Gentleman's Club and Animal Farm, as well as the dialogues in the drug shop, to be pretty important since we have no real way of knowing what to do there or the effects of the drugs without trial & error or translation.

Re: [SLG] Jack-o-nine-tails

After cracking the file open, I think the history is kind of important. Not the full bit, but their past bits hint at their hidden traits before you buy them. For example, An example being a girl from a Space background is more likely to be intelligent (+1 on generation) where a girl from a serf background is more likely to be less intelligent (-1 on generation). Anyways, that might be a minor priority.

Re: [SLG] Jack-o-nine-tails

This is a long post which discusses game mechanics and cheating. If you aren't interested then feel free to skip it.

I became interested in this when someone mentioned the corrupt/spoiled attribute, because it suggests that the underlying simulation was deeper than usual (e.g. SlaveMaker, which has some complex script/narrative stuff but which uses fairly simple numeric counters and stat-decay routines).

As a consequence of the complexity, it's somewhat difficult to cheat. For instance: you can easily find the "Energy" stat and lock it at 5, allowing you to perform more actions per day. Even with full Energy, though, overexertion still seems to cause harm to Health and Mood. More relevant to cheating is the fact that the QSP is object-oriented and uses JavaScript-style custom properties (JIT allocation). The structure of variable memory therefore reflects the order in which each variables was initially invoked by the code. Sometimes you get nice dense blocks, but usually not:

Attributes are found in closely-bound blocks, but skills are more spread-out.
The allocation of male skills is much worse.

The player's rank in the "fighter" skill is sandwiched between
two blocks of memory involving urination. Ewwwww.

"Mood" isn't a traditional variable - it's a computed sum of all the positive and negative things that have happened to a character recently. You can review some of these factors by reading your Diary, or by asking the girl how she feels (the assistant also has a Mood variable, but it doesn't appear in the GUI and barely appears in the code - presumably it's an unfinished feature). Style, Exoticness, and Fame are also computed. I don't know of any way to review all of the contributing factors behind them, but the result is pretty intuitive (e.g. need style? buy some accessories!). The visible sexual skills are also composite (e.g. "Penetration" is the average of vaginal, anal, fisting, and gaping).

It's currently possible to upgrade a girl to S+ Rank with crude cheats, but I'd like to isolate more of the sub-factors. This is a partial workaround for the remaining Russian text - I don't understand the event that just occured, but I can look at the cheat table and see that the "Alien embryo" countdown has begun, so that it ends with a clinic visit instead of a dead girl.

---------------

Good news
My incomplete cheat table works with the original Russian version as well as the translation. Therefore, I can tentatively conclude that it will continue to work with future versions of the translation. Assuming that everything works properly, you could "export" your stats and some of your progress via the cheat table (or, for the sake of convenience, a trainer application), upgrade to the latest translated .qsp file (which invalidates your Saved game), start a new game, and then "import" the stats from the trainer.

This would not be a perfect process. You'd need to buy or rescue a new girl before importing, so she'll have a different history and appearance (I can probably export/import the girl's Name and stuff like "Scars" or "Virgin"). You'd probably need to buy and decorate a new house. But you'd be able to copy-paste your prior stats and skills, and you'd also have access to trainer functions (e.g. "click here for 5000 sparks") to ease the transition.

Question: is anyone willing to volunteer as a tester? Experience with Cheat Engine is prefered but not strictly necessary.

---------------

Two complaints:
  • the name "Cryochamber" is misleading. The code refers to it as "frige" and it stores food - it's clearly a refrigerator. The current name is too similar to the Cryostasis Capsule, and it may confuse the player.
  • the use of red and green asterisks to convey important information is a - this problem is exacerbated by using a muted shade of red. Using grey asterisks on a mottled background is also bad because they blend into the mottling pattern. See below for an alternative.
Code:
<html><body style="letter-spacing:0.1em">
<!--If this is too wide then you can switch to a narrower character, such as &#9612;-->
<font color="#D3D3D3">&#9609;&#9609;&#9609;&#9609;&#9609;</font><font color="#008000">&#9609;&#9609;&#9609;&#9609;&#9609;</font><br/>

Was your slave branded? Did you make sure to increase her and your slave before going for a sale? Brand is one think, but customers sometimes may refuse to buy slave because she looks unkempt... or well, slaver is too ugly.

You need to have at least 3 of her sex-techniques at low level and the rest of them at lowest.

Thanks, i was focusing on common skills and only usually train specialized technique(max out in a category) its a no wonder why I couldn't find it. :)

You might as well max out two categories - what matters is sum of values, so if you manage to get that sum with just two techniques, than other things don't matter.

Re: [SLG] Jack-o-nine-tails

Not sure about a few things:

How do you increase temperament? EDIT: nevermind, I raised it by winning horse raise in colliseum. Can probably raise from other events there, too.

How do you fight Lanista (that gladiator chick) in coliseum?

Other than for being able to sell to that animal farm place, what's the point of training dog boar and horse?

Whats the difference between hiring a tutor and sending off to class?

Even when I'm buying my own food and not sending off any of my slaves or assistant to buy food, I still get 300+ in food bills, why?

Also, version related question: I crash whenever I try to equip armor on my slave, or any of those four special items from special missions. Is it fixed in any of the recent versions?
