Re: (ACT) Adventures of girl alchemist Annette

I think the game has top notch animation and music although the amount is a bit in the low side. Gameplay wise, I agree with others that it is oversimplified and I think that the developers wanted to put many more game mechanics in but rushed it (e.g. she has jump button but you can't jump over enemies).

At least it isn't as clunky as those softhouse seal/demonhouse seal games but still a bit expensive as a standalone game. Hopefully, the developers can reuse the engine or expand on it as others have noted.

Yeah, well if you put aside the cost and feels the game... You get a nice eye-candy... For about 5min? Just play the game for the eye-candy, then you might not be overly disturbed by how lacking the game is, its not so easy to make a game ya know.

Well, this game does look nicer than the previous game of its kind, though not better.
Hope that they could implement dodging (ducking), make jumping useful, perhaps bonus game mechanics like leveling systems (Grinding) + Farming + Several costumes changes (for eye-candy?)... Now that asking a lot, since to do that, you might as well just go back to reprogramming a whole lotsastuff...

Just that they better cut the bgm sound by 50% so that the char voice can be clearer.

- I have no problem with the camera, if you go right then the enemies will only spawn on the right.
- If you get caught (Rape) while lotsa enemies marching through, you might find someathem when you turn left (Maybe, it happens to me once) but if you just go right then they might as well be negligible.
- If you go left far and turn to go right, enemies will respawn on the right.
- If you think your hp is draining out fast, then just go to the option on the Title Page, and tinker with the HP gauge & TP meter stuff.

Different people Will have different opinions, so I would not argue with them saying if this game is not up to their stomach *Well, even I think that it hasn't yet*.

But, it is not so bad a game. It is quite decent as its own, just that when you compare it with the market, its... its... you know, its That! Just That!

Hentai Season Pass is what we should be more afraid of.

I'm already seeing far too much of the Patreon bs between Breeding Season, Crisis Point, MoGI Origins and Wolfenstahl for my liking. It makes me respect Kyerieu even more (if that was needed) that he looked at gated releases and crowd funding. Even as an established author who actually COMPLETES his work, he decided not to take that route.

Meanwhile Breeding Season still has about 10 animations after 2 years of work, and lots of promises.

EDIT: Oh and now Kajio has taken that road as well.

How do you want authors to fund these works? It takes a very long time to create a decent game, even more to do something of quality. To me, Patreon is awesome, it provides a real incentive for people to start creating quality games. Those people actually get rewarded for their work. Reward = more games and hopefully more quality.

Now, that said, I do cringe at some of the crowdfunding without much to show for it. I also am leery of the monthly funding model. I think one-shot or update based funding is a better choice.

In the end, this perverted bastard just wants more English games to play :D

I understand where your argument is coming from here, but I'm just trying to reasonably look at the differences I've seen in pacing and quality. On one hand we have Kurovadis and Eroiko and his yet-unnamed-game, as well as others like Marionette of the Labyrinth and Parasite in City showing up. They're completely reliant on being finished and making sales, and they've all done extremely well in that regard. We also have sort of split cases like Paperheads, that did pretty well. I think the Wolfenstahl team took too long on deciding what to do for their next game, and now they're making a coming instead.

On the other hand, I see things like Breeding Season that has a supposedly dedicated artist, and has taken god knows how much money from people, to turn out an abysmally small amount of actually playable, workable content. I feel almost like Patreon encourages the game makers to delay and gate their own work to make it more appealing to those who want to see everything that's going on. I also seem to see some of these artists, like Kajio, go dark for a couple months then return with some scheme of funding to get them started on projects again.

In short, I see too much being promised by these campaigns, with an abysmally low showing of what they actually achieve. In contrast, we have artists that haven't relied on this form of funding and still manage (in similar or better timeframes) to produce work of an even quality.

Re: (ACT) Adventures of girl alchemist Annette

I definitely see what you're saying. My belief is that the market will correct those mistakes. Patreon is new, and eventually, people will start expecting a certain level of progress before funding. If you burn your consumer base, it will burn you back. In that regard, as a aspiring game creator, Patreon campaigns that fail to back up their promises, piss me off.

Anyways, don't want to take this too far off topic. I think this game has excellent animations, and if the author puts more content in, it would be worthy of a purchase. As it is, this is merely a demo in my mind.

Re: (ACT) Adventures of girl alchemist Annette

Well, going back to the topic of 'This Game', I guess it is *perhaps* their first ever Actual game, instead of VN type Adv game. They might release it early in sheer of hoping for positive feedback from players, or even bug reports from actual players *though for a simple games like this, you don't need experience player to find out bugs*.
Oh wait, they only did doujinshi... not Visual Novel Adventure games... Sorry, but those are not even games!

If we give them good feedback, they might be encourage to do a much *in this case, a whole lot of much* better games in the future, and perhaps even get sponsors to fund their workers who did great on the animations and char design.

Anyone who knows jap and knows how to contact them? Encourage them to do a better job on the Game-play contents itself next time.

For me, I think I can understand why it's a bit expensive as they could have spent quite a bit of time coding/planning stuff (on a unity game engine as well) but never implemented such things into the game.

Granted, players have to shoulder the costs if they purchased the game still I think it's nice that these developers have lofty goals and hopefully they can do much better after making money off of this game.

Well, I guess it is their first ever games *since the rest were doujinshi*, so they might just do this as a 'test subject' kind of games, who knows.

Talking about similar games, I guess for a side-scrolling games you have;
- Koooonsoft (Possibly the earliest of its kind, and well-made flash H-Game to top it off. Followed by OneOne1).
- Vita GE (need more).
- Wonder Treasure (nice for a quick game).
- softhouse seal (it have hopes, seriously. One Big Fat *hollowed in the middle* hopes. The VN content seriously drag the MB).

Now, what makes a few of these side-scrolling games interesting? How to make it more addicting?
- Simple mechanics (only contain walking, shooting, and jumping) or Complex mechanics (like combos, skills, inventory, and such)?
- Short (to avoid prolong repetition) or long (with a lot to do to avoid repetitive action especially in an RPG)?
- Difficult and challenging or easy?
- Eye-candy needs to be big and clear throughout the game or separated only in the menu and title page?
- The elements perhaps? Having HP and Armor separated to allow living naked? Variation in costumes? Pleasure gauge to make the char face and behaviour to be confident, neutral, scared, or lustful? Town to go back to and buy up potions and stuff? Originality?

When you look back at the games which you hold fond of, it contains the minimal requisition for what you planned as a good games, but it still makes your day...... Give Those Days Back To Us!!!!

P.s.: I might be overly bored writing all these stuff up..... writing, writting, color, colour, defence, defense...

Re: (ACT) Adventures of girl alchemist Annette

Ugh... yeah gotta agree with others here about softhouse/devilhouse. Their first game side scrolling game (華麗に悩殺♪ くのいちがイク! ~桃色ハレンチ忍法帳~) had nice animations (their best, in fact) but the coding as horrible, clunky, and lack forethought (lacked a gallery mode, progress/saves, etc.)

After that they made less buggy games but their platformers were mediocre in gameplay at best and their animations were subpar at best and uninspired at its worst (e.g. one of their games was a clunky running game with cgs attached for completing a level).

They really didn't live up to their hype nor did they improve that much after their first game and purchases on their side scrolling games will never really reach as much as their first one since people know what they're capable of as developers.

They do have the Full Game, but unless you want the game to be Completed, you have to wait for a complete patch from the producer, since the game's basically haven't finished yet. So for now, we are discussing about how air and wavelength can benefits us in modern medicine.

I agree that Softhouse/Devilseal games kinda sucks... That is why their games have a doughnut holes in the middle instead of tasty sausages. Their exterior bun was crispy, but their target customer was for the Japanese VN-Game lovers, so we outsiders might find them rather... unappealing. By all means, they are lacking in actual game satisfaction and they haven't gotten a good programmer to settle these distress.
Alas, I rather avoid spitting shit over their preferences, I mean, not all DOTA lovers like PES right? And yet both games have their merits to some, if not all.

Btw, Pardon me, but wasn't LineMarvel a site rather than a game (or a group)?

LineMarvel was the person who created the old RoR flash games: Jungle Girl, Demon Girl and Angel Girl. Hence, our titles on the forum.
