Re: Tarum III - Space Station The Dividing Line

Caitlin follows Mara out the elevator, and off to the left as well.

"Really, that's incredible, you're probably better off than I am. It's technically fully functional, and I still feel everything, I'm just somewhat less of an 'active participant', hehe." She isn't quite talking about the weather, more animated, like talking about a sports team.

"Why should I keep away from the Omega strain? It's probably some kind of combat organism, isn't it? I bet they purposely chose Omega just to emphasize their difference from you and yours, didn't they? Alpha and Omega, all that stuff."

Mara nods. "Our alphabet is somewhat comparable to the ancient Greek of Terran history. Just like the Omega ends the alphabet, the Omega strain ends you. Aaand there we are."
The blue spore still lies in the containment field. It seems everybody's fear was unnecessary - the big hole in the man-sized creature seems to have knocked it out but good.

"By the stars, is that it!?" Caitlin rushes over to the creature, pulling out a sensing tool from her wheelchair and writing furiously on her datapad. For about a minute, she is oblivious to anything else around, then half turns to Mara with a flood of questions.

"What happened to it? How long has it been dead? Have you seen any others around? Why is there a forcefield around it? Wheres your medical bay? What kind of equipment does it have for analyzing genetic material? Is there any other staff on hand?"

"Yes. Shot with an energy rifle. A few hours. No. We weren't sure if it's dead. Right down this corridor. Everything you need. One medical officer and another biologist." Mara's answers come in the exact same order as the questions. It's not quite clear if she is mocking Caitlin or not. Instead she pauses shortly and then sends a call over the channel. "Vance, the specialist is here to examine the spore. I figured you'll want to join us."

Vance walks in, a big smile plastered on his face as he looks at the biologist in the wheelchair and stops next to her "You must be the biologist here to study the spore. I'm Vance Igerson, and I'm probably the only other biologist here on the station. Pleasure to make your acquaintance, miss?" he holds out his right hand for a handshake while waiting for her name

Caitlin ticks off the answers on her fingers, looking somewhere between amused and shocked, then gives a quick laugh. "Wow, thanks, that's perfect." There's no indication whatsoever that she even noticed anything mocking about the large string of answers.

She turns to meet Vance with a grin on her face. "Hi Vance, I'm Caitlin, pleasure to meet you. Kinda big for a scientist aren't you? Doesn't matter, lets get this thing down to the med lab, I want a full genome on it as soon as possible. You wouldn't mind helping me move this thing would you?"

She then begins rummaging around in another compartment of her chair, and pulls out yet another device. As soon as the field is dropped, she starts shifting it around herself, taking samples from various locations and checking cell structures on her datapad, following Vance as he ((assumedly)) picks up the creature and heads to the Med Bay.

"This is incredible, did you know this specimen can store a large amount of electricity in its body? Why do you think that would be?"

"High sodium content would be my first bet. Or it's blood could have a high Iron content, if it has blood. Can't say for sure until we analyze this specimen." Vance says, picking up the creature and turning for the door, smiling as he continues "And I'm only a biologist as a part of my work. I need to know what a person's insides are like to fight them effectively, and to try and find a way to fix myself." he says, carrying the specimen through the halls and into the medical bay

((On to the medical thread.))

Soon, those between the repair center and the cargo bay her a series of metallic clicks as an Senkeks small droids start bring in supplies and a few partially created robots from his ship. For a lack of a better place to start, I'm having the one 'bot I have that's capable of combat do a check of the maintenance tunnels to check for any more surprises like that critter from earlier. Senkeks voice projects along the radio.

As soon as Vance and Caitlin step off the elevator into the bay, her ship starts doing its preflight routine on its own. She doesn't mention this, but does start talking.

"So... The Pillar does tend to creep a lot of people out, if you've got somewhere else you want to be, go ahead, I keep her at zero-gee usually, so I can move what I need on my own..."

"I've got nothing else to do" Vance says, smiling as he walks towards the ship with Caitlin "So, what do we need to move first? I hope we can get it all done quickly. I prefer speed over organization." he says, turning to Caitlin as his smile changes to a smirk

Re: Tarum III - Space Station The Dividing Line

((Sorry, bit of confusion, only my fighter is in the bay, The Pillar is orbiting the station.))

"Well, we're after two things basically: Simple med supplies, in a closet off my quarters, and equipment from my genetics lab. Speed is appreciated, but I'm sure I don't have to tell you how sensitive all that is. You have your own ship, right? If we take two ships we should be able to get most of it in a single trip. Sound like a plan?"

Vance points to his triangular ship on one side of the bay "My job before I signed-up for this was to transport packages." Vance says, chuckling as he walks towards his ship "I should be able to carry it all in my ship" he says, stopping and turning to Caitlin "Shall we go?"

Re: Tarum III - Space Station The Dividing Line

"Oh wow, that's handy. Yes, let's be off then." Caitlin rolls over to her ship and climbs aboard, leaving the wheelchair behind, which quickly scoots over to an un-occupied corner of the bay. The small fighter ship picks itself up and launches out of the bay, immediatly doing a hundred degree hairpin turn to head over the bottom of the station, where the Pillar of Glory currently rests. The gunship looks like some sort of malformed beast, organic material that seems to throb covering almost the entire outside, and a few stray tendrils drifting lazily. It does nothing other than open its bay doors, located near the rear. Caitlin however, is flying like a madwoman, swooping around the station, pulling barrel rolls and circling the pillar a few times before actually entering the bay. You're sure that if she had a channel open she'd be whooping and hollering, having a grand old time. The inside is a bit cramped, so she attaches the ship to a bare patch on the cailing, allowing Vance's ship the entire floor to rest and maneuver in..

Caitlin's voice comes over the comms, sounding a bit out of breath."We'll be using that lift over there to transfer the supplies from the lab, line up your ship however you want and I'll meet you there. Welcome to Bob!"

She exits the small fighter and gracefully navigates her way over to the lift in zero-gee, using small handholds grown into the walls and propelling herself along easily, waiting for Vance once she gets there.

((Ever played Halo? :)Basically, the Pillar kind of looks like High Charity after the flood got to it, though not nearly as bad. Bob is also dark green, almost black, not like the washed out flood brown.))

Re: Tarum III - Space Station The Dividing Line

Vance, having gotten into his ship and left the station a few seconds after Caitlin, follows her and sees the monstrosity "Wow, nice ship" he says, simply baffled at the construction of it, hearing Caitlin out of breath "You sound like you had a fun time" he says, his ship slowly maneuvering into the bay on the ship, then setting down "For a scientist, you're one crazy woman" he says, sighing as he leaves the tiny bridge of his ship and exits, immediately taking flight "dammit" he says, grasping part of his ship and checking his surrounds before aiming himself for the lift and pulling with the arm he is using to hold onto his ship, propelling himself towards the lift gracefully "I hate zero gravity. Such a waste of my strength" he says after arriving at the lift "Let's get moving."

Re: Tarum III - Space Station The Dividing Line

Caitlin blushes a little, and pushes a button on the wall, setting the lift in motion.

"Thanks, though she's actually quite old. As for the crazy..." She pauses a second to glance down at her legs, then back up to Vance.

"You ever dream of flying as a child? You know, just leave the ground for a while and go? Sometimes it's difficult going through life at waist-height, but when I'm out there... It's a direct neural link between me and the ship. Its a symbiote really, so I sort of become it while I'm there. My senses expand, and it feels so free..."

Her little speech is interrupted by a light tone, and the lift stops and opens up into what you can tell used to be the engine room, and is now the laboratory.

"Ah, here we are, sorry about talking your ear off there. This is the lab, and as you can see, most of it is portable, so it shouldn't be too much trouble getting it all packed up. That, that, and that (accompanied with three points of a finger at some equipment) can't be moved, however, so I hope Cristal... Sorry, Krysta has access to her own. Most of the consumables, like gauze and whatnot, are up in a closet in my quarters, I'll just run up and grab them while you start here. Any questions?"

Re: Tarum III - Space Station The Dividing Line

"How much of this is fragile?" Is all Vance asks as he walks into the make-shift laboratory "I just need to know. I tend to be clumsy when working for too long." he says, un-buttoning the two fastened buttons on his coat, and setting said coat next to the lift, cracking his knuckles and chuckling as he starts moving the equipment and organizing it "Get you perishables, by the time you return, this should all be ready to be taken down to my ship" he says, stopping to think on time management and organization

"I think it would be an easier question if you asked what wasn't, these things aren't made to be moved, you know. I shouldn't be too long, most of it is still packaged." Caitlin hits another button on the lift, and the doors close.

"Sounds like tons of fun" Vance says, sighing as he hears the lift go up "What to do, what to do? I can't start moving the parts until she comes back with the lift." he says, sighing as he looks around the room and decides to get back to organizing it for loading

Re: Tarum III - Space Station The Dividing Line

You hear the lift moving again, and a moment later the doors open to reveal Caitlin with a box almost as big as she is floating beside her. She looks around at the neatly stacked equipment, her eyes finally settling on Vance.

"Alright, that's all i can spare of the consumables, looks like just in time too, not much left you can do without the lift.lets get all this loaded then."

Re: Tarum III - Space Station The Dividing Line

"Yes ma'am" Vance says, moving as much equipment as he can onto the lift and chuckling "Is that all we need for the moment?" he asks, grabbing his coat from the floor and putting it over his shoulders, then buttoning the top three buttons "If not, then we can always make a second trip"
