Oh my BUTT, if there is no news in the span of a month, I will eat all of the skin off of my own face.
Hmm, I guess its about that time where I should try to see what all the fuss is about with this game series. Is there anything I would need to know about with this stuff or is all pretty straight forward?
So I just happened to check on the status of this game and it seems that it has been completed today.
According to this: 3d-lotus.com/news/【完成!!】skunk-4-1ついにきました/801/
And google translate.
No clue about links though.
The screenshots have been updated as well, it seems like despite the new stuff, we're still using the same battle system that has been used in all of the games so far.
and DAT recommended settings a Core i7 wow
I don't think so, as they might as well not have developed the game in the first place. Devs try to get their games to run on the most number of hardware platforms possible, so as to maximise potential sales.
I took it to mean that there could be issues with the core i7, HD4000 graphics and frame rates. Possibly with other Intel HD graphics versions as well?
They seem to say that it will work with a GeForce 610M, which is right at the bottom of the food chain when it comes to independent graphics cards.
You will have noticed that there is no mention of i3 or i5 processors, or anything made by AMD.
They don't seem to say, but I suspect that the problems have been noticed with laptops, and I would bet with Intel motherboards
The Skunk games are not technically demanding, and I see no indication that 4 is any different. The others will run quite happily on a single core 2GHz, 333MHz DDR1 and similar kit.
From the information available it does seem to be a weird hardware compatibility issue?
Cheers,

You'll need an Intel Core i7 and a graphics card. The game is probably too much for the built in Intel HD on-board graphics. You can adjust the frame rate/delay, just in case.
The game runs smoothly on Windows 7 with a Core i7 and a GeForce610M (laptop graphics card). That's pretty much what I used when making this game.
Haven't tested it on Windows 8 yet.
There is a consecutive story, but the whole product really started to "take off" at the second one. It is consistently baffling that this series is not more popular, I've felt that it's essentially in a class all by itself.
Also, personally speaking, the gameplay sucks big time. And is slow. The story also sucks, and not in a 'hilariously bad' sort of way.

Let's just say that most Japanese usually only have low-spec computers (PC gaming is a niche, so most people don't bother with a graphics card. The general view seems to be if you want to play non-hentai/doujin games, you'll get a console). Add to this that the Skunk series have lousy graphics (awfully low polygon count and weird animation) and you can see what's the problem going to be.

Yeah, I expect sales for the 4th game to hit an all-time low after the author posted that sort of system requirements.

I doubt the game will actually NEED those requirements.
I'm betting the dev just doesn't have a good understanding of technical requirements himself, so his "recommended" system is just what his own specs are, to be safe.
If it DOES actually need an i7, with those graphics, it would have to the most unoptimized game I've ever seen... meaning the dev has really poor programing skill; which just further cements the likelyhood of my main guess.
I agree entirely, he just doesn't see the difference between a workable development rig, and one you use as a production machine.
OK, I know nothing about game development, but I have a lot of experience with CAD systems. There is a world of difference between the kit in the CAD office, and that driving the CNC machines on the shop floor.
I sincerely hope that someone points out his error, so he can get the game properly platform tested, and issue revised requirements before he scares people off.
Let's face it, an i7 is a pretty high spec, even by Western standards? It sounds as if he has a "gaming" laptop, which is not what I would recommend for systems development. He really should be using a tower to allow for a faster (hotter) processor and a decent video card, and plenty of RAM. I am just rebuilding my i7 rig in a gaming case to fit the Radeon 7970 and water cooling... that would do the job nicely. It does mean that I will be able to run the game, because my video card is slightly better than his.
I am really looking forwards to this game guys; for all the wrong reasons... I want to see just how low a spec I can go and still get it to run decently

... To put it another way, can any of you guys tell me of a stand alone hentai game that needs an i7? or even an i3 for that matter?
I think that the dev has shot himself in the foot with that requirements spec.
