Re: A Vision of Amber (Mind Flayer)

(There's a chance you'll run into them again. As for good or bad... they're people, just like everyone else in this particular world.)

Slowly, the girl shakes her head. She's given up. If you wish to help them, it seems that there aren't any answers as to how to be found here.
Final round: 8 vs 5; safe
Questioning why the world would be dieing, you make your way through the water to another shoreline, where the mist is much thinner. Through it, you can just barely make out the outline of a large building of some description.

Distantly, you can still hear the music of the pair, but it is faint. Not enough to keep you awake, should you take some time to rest here, certainly. Though your limbs do feel pretty heavy, you feel like you could also press onwards.

Re: A Vision of Amber (Mind Flayer)

(Heh, alright then.)

Amber continued on towards the direction they pointed her to, not wanting to stay any longer when her body was starting to feel so heavy. When she made her way to the shore, Amber noticed that the fog had begun to clear a bit, and she was very glad for that because it was getting a bit too difficult to see for her liking. "Alright Amber, keep moving now. Don't stop now," Amber muttered to herself as she got out of the water.

Looking off in the distance, Amber saw the faint outline of a building, though she couldn't make out what it looked like exactly. She decided to head for the building, to at least maybe find someone other than a ghost like the girls out in, or over the water rather. She also idly wondered what exactly was going on here and hoped there would be someone in the building that could explain that to her.

"Hello? Is there someone inside? Please, I need to speak with you if you are," Amber called through the door after knocking on it.

Re: A Vision of Amber (Mind Flayer)

(Let's see... enemy file... and the map... rules were... right, here we go.)
For status tracking.

You are currently as [???? - Gate], and are in good health.
You do not currently know of any enemy locations or identities.
Rolls:
????(1d100): 6
Perception: ????(2d6-2) vs Amber(2d6): 10 vs 8 - failed
Knocking on the thick wooden gate reveals that it is extremely well balanced... or possibly enchanted, given how easily it swings open.

On the other side, you can see that the fog is noticeably thinner, such that you can see for a fair distance through the gate. Large gardens greet you on the other side, flanking a straight brick path which leads to the front entrance of a large building, a large double-door set into the front of a building four floors tall if counting the lines of windows is reliable. One of these looks to be hanging open slightly, though from here you can not see inside. To the left of the entrance before you, and slightly to the left, you can make out the outline of a tower through the mist, though you can not tell how far away.

More immediately, once you look down from the red-painted building before you, are the gardens. Stretching off in both directions into the fog, once they held a wide assortment of flowers. You can still see a few, colorful points poking out from the choking vines and wildly growing weeds, marked out into squares by laid brick paths.

It is into this courtyard which you call out your question, though no response can be heard, beyond the faint echo of your words.

Re: A Vision of Amber (Mind Flayer)

As Amber knocked on the gate and saw it swing open, she headed inside and saw the fog thinning out a bit thankfully, making it easier to see. Looking around, Amber saw the garden as she called out, seeing no one or getting no reply. She decided to head for the building instead of continuing to call out for people. Walking through the shortest path there, even if it meant going through the garden, though she would tread carefully to not step on any plants along the way.

Once she made it to the large double doors, Amber would knock on them and see if they were unlocked before trying to get inside, feeling it best to do so so that she could get dried and warmed up after the dip in the water.

For status tracking.

Amber's status:
FP: 5/5
AP: 0/10
Location is [???? - Entrance]

Rolls:
Perception: ????(2d6-2) vs Amber(2d6): 9 vs 8 - failure

Enemy status:
Hi~
The wide, central path proves free of plant-life, making the walk to the doors rather easy. Once there, you find that even if the ornately carved wooden doors were locked, they would prove no barrier to entry, as the door on the left is slightly opened.

Pushing the door open reveals a large entry hall, floored with richly colored carpet and flanked by onlooking balconies. The light passing through one of the several windows catches on a hanging chandelier above, though no light comes from it.

Time to look in is scarce, however, for you feel more than see the light coming from behind you suddenly cut off. Perhaps an instant later, a young female voice cuts through the sudden darkness behind you - "May I eat you?"

Re: A Vision of Amber (Mind Flayer)

Seeing the doors left slightly open, Amber went inside and shivered a little from how wet her body was from the water. The place was dark and spooky looking, but at least it was dry and she could warm up maybe. First thing was first, find some dry clothes to change into, Amber thought to herself.

Before she could though, she heard a voice call out to her from behind as what little light she had shining through from outside went out. Amber gasped and frantically reached for a wall to get her bearings. "W-Who are you? And what do you mean eat me? I... I don't want to die," Amber said in a scared voice, drawing her dagger from her leg sheath as she looked around for the voice.
