Re: Backstory
Common Creatures
From the writings or Imperial Archivist Namon Bendis, fourth in the order of the Steel Rose, and former retainer of the Emperor Himself.
I write a listing of whatever creatures may be remembered, and any pertinent information that is known about them, for the Fey, Spirits, Undead, known Daemons, Demons, and warped creatures encountered around the area of the portal in the town of Artmirst. Note that all information here is from hearsay and rumor, an Imperial Magister of my standing is hardly likely to waste his time in such a trivial manner.
Beasts
Mutated Wolves - The local wolves and dogs seem to have been mutated, lumpy growths and long tentacle-like protrusions growing from their hides. Darkhearts can be found somewhere in their body, the size of which depends on how badly mutated they are.
Drop: Darkheart.
Mutated Bears - Similar to the wolves, the local brown and black bears have likewise been mutated.
Drop: Darkheart.
Mutated Horse - Unlike wild beasts, horses were near to the portal when it opened, taking the brunt of the corruption along with their human masters. They have a number of tentacles sprouting from their underbellies, which are meant to grasp their prey.
Drop: Darkheart.
Mutated Mountain Cat - Similar to the bears and wolves. It is unusual that the corruption seems to have only affected the forests predators.
Drop: Darkheart.
Plants
Black Oak - A massive tree which has somehow been corrupted. Covered in tentacles which can grow to incredible lengths, and containing enough corruption and power to form a darkbrain, a sentient piece of evil magic. They are incredibly powerful, draining the energies of their victims to feed themselves.
Drop: Darkbrain.
Shorn Weed - A bulbous plant with a stamen on top and a single flower on a long tentacle, this plant is known to be only mildly dangerous. It's method of defense is spraying a narcotic substance which sets of an animals reproductive hormones through its flower. Females affected by this will often relieve themselves using the plants stamen, more often than not also becoming pregnant. The writer will note that it is not known what a woman impregnated by these plants will give birth to.
Drop: Shorn Nectar.
Vine Creeper - A small corrupted plant that attacks travelers and lays its seed in them. Often use ambush tactics, rustling the leaves with some tentacles while others attack from behind while their prey is distracted.
Drop: Darkheart.
Leaf Person - The offspring of a person and a Shorn Weed, which start out as small leafy pods with short tentacles. They eventually grow into humanoid plant creatures.
Drop: None.
Fey
Gruff - The goat headed and legged humanoids, common soldiers among the Fey. Often use bronze and wooden weapons. Some of the older ones begin to inherit powerful spiritual and magical powers. While more often reasonable than openly hostile , they are often quite lecherous.
Drop: Gruffs Horn.
Gruff Warlocks - The elder members of their race, often powerful in the ways of magic and possessing spiritual powers.
Drop: Gruffs Horn.
Dumogi - Small, dark skinned, round creatures that are known to speak very quickly when conversing with mortals, and often chatter unintelligibly. They are known to use magic, particularly favoring cold magic, and they seem to be immune to any extreme of cold.
Drop: None.
Trolls - Powerful Fey warriors, but usually very stupid. Grey skinned and lacking in social skills, will sometimes attack anything on sight, though they will usually follow the lead of other Fey.
Drop: Trollbone.
Fey Lords and Knights -
Drop: Drop: Lords Blood/Knights Blood.
Demons
Clawed - Small, black skinned creatures with long claws. Numerous, and like goblins, they are often used as foot soldiers. They are significantly less intelligent, however, which is saying quite a lot considering they're being compared to goblins. They lack the ability to speak, and are perhaps comparable to common dogs in the demons ranks.
Drop: None.
Stalkers - The higher end commanders of common demons, stalkers are also powerful scouts and guerrilla fighters. They have claws and teeth, and gray skin that is said to be able to change colors based on their surroundings. They are intelligent enough to lay ambushes, and most of the lower demons follow their orders without question.
Drop: Stalker Skin.
Stalker Lightmage - These Stalkers are capable of using magic, most often Light Magic, against their prey. Some are also skilled in Entropic magic, making them even more dangerous.
Drop: Stalker Skin.
Tentacled Horror - Strange six legged abominations with backs covered in muscular tentacles, each of which has a varying tip. Some are bladed, others spiked, and still others end in bony clubs. It also has a few reproductive tentacles mixed in.
Drop: None.
Greater Tentacled Horror -
Drop: None.
Darkwalker - Massive black spiders which often form nests and attack those that stray too close. Their venom is known to paralyze, and they can fire strands of webbing to entrap their prey.
Drop: Darkwalker Venom Gland.
Goblins - The smallest and weakest known demons, used as foot soldiers and expendable scouts. They are individually weak, but very numerous. Sometimes exhibit cunning and tactics when engaging a foe they know is superior physically.
Drop: Goblins Teeth.
Warped Ones- Humans warped by demonic influence into unthinking abominations, often used for canon fodder and breeding.
Drop: Possible Darkheart.
Hellhound -
Drop: Hellhounds Fang.
Ogre -
Drop: Ogres Horn.
Knights and Lords -
Drop: Lords Blood/Knights Blood.
Daemons
