Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Silence seemed to pervade everything until Christine packed up and just made for the cave, the others scrambling to catch up. I WANNA BE ON RECORD THAT THIS IS THE WORST IDEA EVER! Tam squeaked while Hix just picked her up and they kept moving.

Entering the cavern, there was an intense feeling of nausea and then... they weren't in a cave anymore, despite having only traveled about 10 feet into it, being dumped suddenly into... what felt like the tropics.

From the sticky heat to the massive flora, they had managed to go South, and to what appeared to be a jungle judging from the near evening levels of darkness underneath the thick canopy while all around them birds and beasts sounded calls through the trees, leaves, and vines that pervaded everything.

i told you so doesn't cover it. Tam muttered, Dillian slowly reaching out a hand to her, before bapping her. We will manage. was all he had to say, putting away the crossbow and drawing his long knife for use as a machete.

Still, we should be careful here, if it's untouched by civilization then nothing here will be afraid of us. We're just another meal. he muttered. Ashlie meanwhile seemed to be far more at home here, beaming up and around at everything before scurrying up a tree.

Coming back down about 15 seconds later she seemed even more excited. It's just like back home! Jungle for miles! MILES FOR DAYS! she shouted, bouncing around happily, bushy tail all awaggle

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Christine instantly starts sweating as the humid heat washes over her, and she stumbles on a root. "I wasn't built for this climate." she mutters before remembering to consult the magical map. I hope we aren't actually stuck here for days...

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

the map unfurls and seems fairly confused for a moment, the little dot that marked their position flailing around randomly before the entire fucking map changed to compensate and they dashed across an archipelago to a fairly large island.

You are in the Tulin Death Isles! It is an Unfriendly Place! The rating for survival in this area for humans is 0 percent! The rating for survival in this area for fey is 95% Apparently weird magical people taste awful to large carniverous plants. Or they're bad at carrying seeds. Who knows! I don't! The nearest escape rou... I mean Shortcut is 27 miles This way! the map said, the tunnel being marked on a small island to the south-east across a wide channel.

A Boat would be advised! Or a raft! Or a collection of carcasses roped together somehow! Be advised! This collection of islands is home to the Fey Species Andromeda Arachne! A shapeshifting group of Driders renowned for textiles and for their love of violently eviscerating Males of any species whilst keeping females as incubators for their offspring! Warning! this area is home to the Fey Species Debilitatem Album! A land born species known for their dangerous voices! Warning! THIS PLACE IS FULL OF BIGASS VIOLENT ASS PLANTS THAT EAT PEOPLE! WARNING! and so it continued, until the entire map was covered in a slew of warnings about different species, mostly plants, outside the spider people and the odd apparently deadly speakers. or singers. Sirens maybe? There was no fucking telling with this thing but the map was freaking the fuck out.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Blinking as a warning after warning covers the map, Christine lets out a sight. "Fine. I'll admit this was a bad idea. Show the least hazardous route to the beach." she says, directing the last bit at the map.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

THIS WAY! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! the map all caps'd at her in a panic, a force tugging her around 90 degrees before flashing a giant black arrow. THIS WAY IS EAST FOR YOUR REFERENCE AND THE CLOSEST BEACH WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!! I'M TOO OLD TO DIE NOW!!! T_T

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Not sure if she should panic because the map is panicking, or laugh at the exaggerated reaction, Christine starts towards east, her ears twitching as she tries to listen for signs of danger while also keeping an eye on anything suspicious.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

If the map was to be believed everything was suspicious but they were heading out. Sadly true to the maps warning, this place was terrifying in the worst way from the moment Dillian started cutting his way through vines and overgrowth. The plants started screaming, the noise deafening from the first cut as vines recoiled and leaves shook, entire trees seeming to turn and sway in sudden and violent upset at the affront of his blade, the hunter immediately backing off and everyone reaching for weapons, Hix grabbing several rocks in pseudopods and readying them like flails.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

"Well, don't just stand there. We need to get moving before something comes searching for the source of the noise." Christine commands, slipping under a branch and heading towards the beach, fervently hoping the map was wrong...

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Everyone nodded and Dillian shoved his way through the quivering plant life, dodging a vine coiled to try and noose him as he went, turning to slash it clean through, causing another scream, the plants recoiling slightly. Something tells me Fire would be a piss poor fucking idea here! he shouted, Ashlie leaping to join him, help cover him from attacks as he continued to lead. Her stick caused less screaming and the sound was getting unbearable.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Muttering to herself, Christine conjures a foxfire and starts using it to freeze offending vines, still walking forward.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

The frost flame pushes the vines back, at least those that are alive, though she had to duck a noose much like the one that had come for Dillian. Seeing it up close, she could see a mesh like covering on one side that would have bagged her face and helped cut off her cries had it caught her.

Hix was just... melting anything that struck out at her and was at the moment protecting Tam. By the time they cleared the beach they were more exhausted then they should have been certainly thanks to the constant effort, nor were they alone as they stumbled onto a woman sunning calming in the sand. Well. half woman. Her lower half was that of an enormous, smooth, sand covered Spider that complimented her dark golden skin well and she smiled as she saw them, her eyes crinkling while she took a head count.

A Human too.... Ooooo It's been awhile since we had someone new to play with... Is that your ship over there? The one on Fire? she asked, her smile turning into a smirk as a large galleon on the water was erupting in flames, the sounds of men screaming and dying carrying to the beach along with the cries of gulls.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Sweating even more from the effort of using the foxfire for so long, Christine draws one ragged breath after another, her mouth starting to dry as they arrive to the beach and she wipes the sweat from her brow, thankful that they wouldn't have to go back into that awful jungle again. "Not ours. We used the caves to come here." she replies to the strange spiderwoman, wondering whether it was worth talking with someone who, in all likelihood, was about to attack them as soon as she satisfied her curiosity.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Wait, really? Holy hells you're ballsy! Well then since you're not invaders I suppose... well, you're obviously fey and you have a slave.... Slaves? Welcome to the isles, sorry for the rough greeting. I'm Alamanta. Would you folks appreciate a place to rest? she asked, changing her tune immediately and standing up fully, bowing her human half slightly in greeting and offering Christine a Hug, which was a little odd but they were in a different area and the Drider stood almost 4 foot taller then the tallest member of their party Ashliegh.

I Belong to lady Christine yes, as does the Human. But the squirrel with the stick, Ashliegh is a free soul, as is Hix the slime. We're all very nervous, we've never been here... Tam squeaked, introducing everyone and moving closer to the Drider, giving Christine just a tiny motion to back up in case it all went pear shaped suddenly. If Christine had to think hard about why the usually shy Tam who almost always got herself into trouble was stepping up to take the risk, she'd only need to look at the water just behind the spiderwoman on the beach.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

"Nice to meet you, Alamanta. We certainly would. Passing through the caves again after dark would probably be a bad idea, and we'll need a raft." Christine replies, giving the spider-woman a short hug before stepping backwards to take a look at whatever had spooked Tam.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

All Christine would see was a ripple and a very brief flash of a fin splitting the water and then the beach was completely still again, Tam immediately taking her place back beside Christine once it had disappeared.

Hugging her firmly, Alamanta seemed genuinely excited. That's wonderful, we don't get many guests anymore what with the merchant's guilds burning our homes, that's how we all wound up here after all sharing these islands with the merfolk and the sirens. Who you should meet certainly! But.... well, we can get to that later! Please if you would follow me we can get you to the village and we can all relax where it's a fair bit safer. You there! Human! It's not safe for you to be on foot for this next trek, if it please your Mistress, ride on my back for now and mind what you touch. she called to Dillian, looking to Christine for permission to let him ride, or her insistence that he stay on foot with her.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

"Much appreciated," Christine replies, smiling as she nods at Dillian. Sparing another glance at the burning galleon, Christine follows Alamanta, making sure not to step in the water.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Dillian nods in return and with a helping limb, clambers up onto the arachne's back, getting comfy before Alamanta started walking ahead of them. The plants it was obvious wanted very badly to come straight at Dillian, but they backed away from Alamanta and indeed, from Christine and party now that they were with her, the interaction odd enough. But Tam was getting Christine's attention at the moment. Unless you're a very strong swimmer Christine, stay out of the water... Merfolk are strictly meat eaters... and nothing is taboo. They're like admittedly sexy Piranha's. The Sirens are even worse but less likely to just attack you. Please be careful here. Tam said, sharing that tidbit with her as they walked.

For the first time, they remained unmolested in the jungle and Ashliegh stayed close to Dillian, oddly protective of the man as they moved. About 20 minutes later they entered into a clearing and Alamanta pointed upwards to a treetop village suspended in silk and crawling with both a mix of enormous spiders, and their more humanoid counterparts.

Please be welcome in Terrat. I'm the village Priestess so... I suppose you've already met who's in charge. she said, putting a hand to her lips before whistling, several enormous bonewhite Spiders starting to slide down on drag lines towards the ground. Just give em a hug and you've got an easy ride up. Don't tickle them though, they'll drop you. She said, starting to simply climb a central tree rather then having one of the nearly 7 foot wide spiders carry her.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Noticing how the plants stay away from everyone but Dillian, Christine idly wonders if there's some kind of enchantment on the island. "That's good to know, then. Not that I was planning to go swimming anyway." she replies to Tam, for the first time having a chance to appreciate the beauty of the jungle.

This is only like... 3rd or 4th strangest thing I've seen in this world. Christine idly thinks as she sees the village of spiders and spiderpeople. Wondering if any of the spiders are as smart as Diva, she picks one at random and goes to take a closer look before hugging it as instructed.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

The spider doesn't seem as outright intelligent as Diva, more like a curious pet who poked and prodded at Christine before wrapping her in an oddly affectionate hug and suddenly reeling her into the air, carrying everyone up into the trees and setting them on a soft walkway made mostly of silk itself, hanging between branches and dyed in curling cubic patterns in reds and blues. For a spine to the structures themselves, it seemed they'd woven something else into the silk which Christine couldn't guess at until she saw it jump and try to move, wriggling slightly. They'd used the tree's living vines as a proper support to the framework of this place.

There were Drider's literally Everywhere, and most were flanked by large spiders though the spiders themselves again seemed like more eager pets rather then sentient, sapient arachnids. There was a good deal of tapping and flailing, but no sparks of anything greater then that. In fact, for a moment, she realized she hadn't seen a single spider cocooning or hunting anything, but as she watched the spider that had carried them up, she saw it gently grip the tree bark, and extend a pedipalp into the wood, drawing back some dark sap, before extending a tube like tongue from between it's fangs, drinking the sap for a moment. We were honestly confused ourselves when we discovered this breed of spider. But they don't eat a single thing, they just drink the tree sap and flail at the birds a bit. Unusually gentle and cuddly. They were like puppies when they first met us, a little confused, very excited, very curious. So.... we bunked together and we've been friends ever since we came to this island about 200 years ago. their guide said, smiling up at the spiders crawling along the trees. The only things we've seen them kill are things dangerous to the trees, parasites and the like, and even then they don't eat them. They drop them to the floor as a fertilizer for the plantlife. Very symbiotic. she continued, starting to lead them along to a set of round orb like dwellings hanging from branches like bird's nests in the canopy, leaving them for a moment to unfurl ladders set inside them. Take your pick, you're welcome to stay as long as you like, and leave whenever you please. Just please... no fires. As you can imagine our entire home is silk... we'd like to keep it intact.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

"They're kind of cute." Christine comments, petting the spider for a while before following the priestess. "But I have to admit I've never heard of vegetarian spiders before. Curious." Picking a nest near the middle, she takes a look before dropping her pack inside. "And thank you again. This is certainly better than camping at the beach."

Sitting down, Christine ponders the situation for a moment. "I guess we'd better leave Dillian here while we see about making a raft of some kind."
