Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Hrm... nice and all sure. You're all fluffy in the right places. he said, laughing softly. Tam had moved upstream a little further, sliding through the water easily. Personally I'd rather not meet her. The risk of not getting to meet anyone else ever again is a bit high compared to my usual freeboating ways. My time is nearly up anyway, I should be getting back to the circle. he said, sighing sadly and standing up, drawing all the water off of his body with a gesture and dropping it back into the river while he fetched his clothing from a nearby tree.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the river, behind Christine, something loomed, walking silently and the size of a large dog not counting it's very long legs, a massive spider, covered in white and black fluff, tapped Christine politely on the shoulder, it's 4 frontward facing eyes regarding her unblinking.

"Perhaps we'll meet again." Christine replies when she feels something tap her on the shoulder. Turning around, she finds the most polite spider she has seen so far. Wondering whether she should be worried about the fact that she's not panicking at the sight of a human-sized spider staring at her face, she pokes the spider.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Here's hoping, I'll likely be around this area for a bit. Lots to see, lots to do. the mage called, heading off. Poking the spider, it used it's front legs to rub it's head for a moment, before poking Christine back, booping her nose, before turning to start spinning a web between a pair of nearby trees.

It was hard to make it out, at all, in the darkness, but the spider was quick and practiced at this and once it was done, it scuttled back over, patting Tam on the head, who'd come over to watch, making her duck and then giggle, while it scooped up water in a small silken bag, and snapped the silk it was carrying tight, flinging the water all over what it had made. Which turned out to be two letters as the droplets outlined them.

"Hi"

And then it wriggled back over and went back to staring at Christine, one long limb prodding and petting at Tam absently.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Christine watches curiously as the spider swiftly creates a web between two trees and then comes to pet Tam. As the letters are outlined, she blinks, not sure whether to believe her eyes. "Hello, spider."

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Tam slid up right next to Christine and poked her butt with her tail, while the Spider pranced about a bit, a little excited, it's many legs tapping in the dirt, before scuttling back to it's chosen spot, and changing the letters, and adding a few more.

Diva.

It quickly decided that was not quite enough of an explanation for the conversation, and added the word Name above Diva

So... it's an enormous spider, named Diva, who can spell... Tam wondered for a few moments. Think we could just get it a piece of chalk or something? she asked Christine, slipping out of the water to dry off, shaking her fur out.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Christine watches the spider, tilting her head as it does a little dance before adding more writing. "Nice to meet you. I'm Christine and this is Tam." the kitsune says before replying to Tam. "If she comes with us back to the castle, I'm sure we can."

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Listening to the pair, it shrugged, swapping out all the words for a giant question mark. It seemed frustrated as it tried to ponder how to spell out what it wanted to say. It finally settled on Show? while it rubbed it's head with it's front two limbs, like being limited to such a small writing space was making this far more difficult then it needed to be.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Christine looks at Tam before shrugging and getting out of the water. "Sure. Let's go." Letting Tam worry about her bundle of clothes, Christine would start leading the spider towards the castle unless it had more to say.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Tam takes a moment to gasp softly as she pulls her chastity belt back on, the lock clicking firmly all on it's own, making her shudder visibly before she got redressed and followed, the pair leading Diva back towards the castle.

Upon getting there, Diva would stop at the edge of the treeline, looking at the door nervously, fidgeting. A little convincing would get it to move again, Tam holding Christine's clothes in her off hand and scratching the spider behind the eyes with the other, making it purr softly.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Wondering what Tam is holding, Christine tells Diva not to worry as the spider hesitates at the edge of the forest. Soon they're back in the castle and as soon as they've cleared the lower floors, the kitsune asks Salazar for a piece of chalk.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Heading inside, Salazar greets them on the 5th floor. Lady Christine, may I.... chalk? Certainly, one moment. he said, simply producing one. The spider swiped it out of his hand with a string of silk, inspecting it as it stuck to her pedipalp. Salazar watched quietly, standing next to Christine and regarded the striped spider.

May I ask exactly what is going on? That certainly one of the larger breeds, but they're no more intelligent then any other arachn.... he started, the spider figuring the chalk out quickly, using more silk to stick it to the front of it's pedipalp securely, before starting to tap away on a black wall, the white showing up beautifully.

This is so much easier! Thank you! I'm not entirely sure what's going on. The last thing I remember was breakfast and then this big blue light erupted from the ground. It had been dancing below, drew in the insects, made hunting easier... And then there were all these thoughts and symbols and words in my head... that was not too long ago... then I found you! Hi! it scratched out swiftly, dancing in place excitedly.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

"Sorry, Salazar, were you about to say something?" Christine asks, scratching the spider's midsection. "Ah, another rift. That explains it, then. I wonder what other strange things they do. Do you remember anything else about it?"

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

The spider wraps several long limbs around Christine, snuggling her into it's fluffy body for a moment, before she asks her question, and Salazar's face tightens into a line at being wrong.

The tapping resumes, the Spider running out of chalk halfway through and prodding Salazar until the drow mage yielded another longer piece.

Not really. It was there, and then it wasn't. And well, I still had my food there so I finished that first. Giant Mantis, delicious. They cut down trees and build big nests but you can grab em when they come up. Crunchy. But then there was all this stuff I knew the words for and I heard the water and saw all the lights, and this little pink cat. I thought maybe it would taste good but it was too fast to catch. it was chasing little lights, and it led me to you and I had to say hello and then you brought me here. Thank you very much by the way, there's plenty to eat on the lower floors we went through. And I thought, normally we'd eat you little pink things, but you were talking and I could understand you and it was really exciting so I poked instead and you poked back... Finishing, and throwing up it's arms excitedly.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Christine laughs with delight and gives the spider a hug. "Do you suppose Lillith will want to see her?" she asks Salazar, scritching the excited arachnid.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

I rightly have no idea. But I will inform her of the new arrival he said, turning to leave Christine and Tam with Diva, who had returned Christine's hug, purring more as she was scratched, before putting Christine up ontop of her head and starting to wander around.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Christine yelps and then laughs as the spider places her on its head, scuttling around in a curious manner. Doing her best to stay still, she waits to see where the spider would take her.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

The spider rushes up several floors, and then back down, looking in all the rooms until they hit the library, where it froze, and drooled hungrily. Seeing a small chalkboard on a desk near the books, with it's own supply of chalk, and grabbed it up, fashioning a rope for it and hanging it over it's head. BOOKS!! I KNOW WHAT BOOKS ARE! I'M NOT SURE WHY I'M SO EXCITED BUT I AM! THERE'S MORE TO KNOW IN HERE! it wrote out for her in all caps.

Setting her down gently, it turned and danced in place. It literally tapdanced around, waving it's chalk and board around. Seemed the flame had bestowed both sentience and higher intelligence in the arachnid. And it had no interest in anything else anymore.

It had found it's paradise, here in this library. Which was well timed, because Lillith walked in behind them, and stood there silently, waiting while the Spider tightly hugged Christine, nuzzling her face for several long moments, before spotting the woman behind them. Stopping, it cleared the board, and wrote Hi! again. Christine... I've seen a lot in many many many years.... Could You explain? I want to read all the books! the spider wrote, ignoring Lillith's immediate request to Christine to make it's own. Fine fine yes, Don't break anything. I have to talk to Christine. she said, the spider FLYING towards a bookshelf, and up it, starting to peel open books in order, starting to read 4 at once.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Surprised by the speed of the spider, Christine does her best to hang on and tries to point out interesting things about the floors, but the spider doesn't really seem to care until they arrive at the library. As the spider sets her on the floor, Christine wonders whether it would be safe to let it read whatever. Fortunately the arrival of Lillith saves her from that headache. "Lillith. Uh..." the kitsune starts, watching the spider fly off at the permission granted by the queen. "It found us at the forest. Apparently, this was caused by one of those rifts floating around."

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Ahh, you mean these. Lillith said, holding up a stringer, which held three clear jars made of black veined crystal. Inside each was a small dancing flame. They occupy whatever space they're in without exception. Take a big jar, pop it over, make it a small jar. Small flame. she said, displaying the red, green, and black flames within the jars.

Waving her hand dismissively, the jars shimmer, and then vanish. So. It understands our language enough to Write it, not just understand it, and it can apparently read... well. she squinted up at the books the spider was holding. Either All languages, magical included. Annoying. Or just those languages. Regardless, if it happened in my domain I suppose he... she... It's my responsibility huh... What caused these rifts? Do you know? she asked Christine, looking her dead in the eyes with her own emerald slitted orbs.

Re: Christine ( \oO.Oo/ )

Meeting Lillith's gaze, for a moment Christine considers just telling that she didn't know. "Well... I don't know for certain, but I suspect they have something to do with a demon - a succubus - I met earlier. She apparently likes dimension hopping and from what I've been told, the appearance of the rifts and her appearance seem to have happened at around the same time."
