Naltaiburs cudgel slammed against the shorter haired blondes head with a sickening crack, and she thought that she saw a depression in the girls skull as she recovered from her own blow. After Naltaibur had packed up everything that she could think of that would be safe to carry, cleaned herself off, and fed all of her specimens, there wasn't much more for her to do. The two corpses still lay in her lab, one on the floor with half of its head gone, and the other lying undamaged but unmoving on the table it had been strapped to, only a light splattering of blood covering her body. She could do nothing for them now, though she wondered if the unharmed one might be somehow restored, some day, even though the chance was very slim. Only time would tell.

The upper floor of the building containing her lab was in shambles, but at least she didn't have to climb through any rubble, as the structure hadn't yet completely collapsed. Most of the walls were cracked, and there was plenty of smashed furniture, but nothing blocked any of the doors, and Naltaibur exited into the dark of dusk, wearing her protective gear, without too much trouble. The streets of Therion were silent and empty, like a city abandoned. Corpses littered the streets, here and there, most of which were very old women, men and..... Children. Most had been crushed so that they were unrecognizable as anything other than a bloody smear, but a few of the corpses had had their throats torn out, or had ugly bruising around their necks as though they'd been choked to death. It didn't look like the entire city had been slaughtered, at least, but the streets were more like a tomb than a place where life had once flourished.

The flickering lights of a fire came from about two streets over, and it looked as though part of the city was on fire. Most of the buildings had received some sort of battle damage, but only a handful had completely collapsed. The nearest watch tower was only three blocks from her lab, and she had to pass the temple on the way there, so Naltabiur headed in that direction. She couldn't see all that well, even with all of the added sources of light, but the towers of the church came into view quickly, the rising stone constructs visible even underneath the light of the half-full, waning moon. The temple wasn't on fire, which was good, though not surprising given that it was all made of stone. It seemed to be totally intact, which was better, and to top it all off, the two heavy oak doors were closed, a soft light coming off of them indicating the presence of some sort of magic over them. Up ahead, she could see the outline of the guard tower against the backdrop of the burning building that sat next to it, but couldn't make out any details. The guardhouse was also made of stone, and the distance of it from any nearby structures protected it from fire and the risk of being caught in another buildings collapse. Whether she wanted to go check on the guard tower first, or try to gain entrance to the temple, was up to Naltaibur to decide.

They can't be knocked out. Else I would have just done that.

Only one would have been a failure without the resistance buff. Otherwise, you rolled higher every time.

You have to actively search them in order to get a drop. I don't remember what I did to the potion, so just assume that it's alright unless I said different earlier.

She was surprised to see it intact at all - even if it was blown for sturdiness, unruly patients in mind, it was nevertheless glass. She scooped up what she could from the puddle, and poured all of it into a sturdier flask, corked tight, and stuffed it into the bag as well. There wasn't much, but it might help down the line somewhere, she thought.

"Be a good girl, now, Dolly..."

Naltaibur pet her winged mouse goodbye, stroking the top of her naked finger from right behind Dolly's eyes to the tip of her tail. Howls of the other creaturess she had locked away, she hesitated, moments passing by as she struggled with her probable last words to possibly the sole thing left in quite some distance that did not want to rape her. The progress she'd been making, the reasons that drove her to warp her body, to sit in this darkened, sequestered hole, experimenting on slabs of meat and locking up creatures... all of it seemed far away now.

Her work... it was too bad she didn't have time to look into her new shaft. She couldn't recall ever learning of a person with two penises before - unsurprisingly, "things that have two cocks" was not a topic taught at the Academy, nor was it a well-documented historical feature. It felt odd, to have two... how would she pee? Biting a lip, she thought of a questioon more likely to rear it's head soon - how would she fuck?

A hint of bitterness rose in her throat. Her femininity had never been very pronounced... now, with an extra manhood, she was probably more "man" than any male she'd ever met, and that bothered her.

"I might not see you again, so... goodbye, I guess. Don't eat all your food and water all at once... don't choke."

She briefly entertained the thought of taking Dolly with her... but, no, it would do her little mousy no good to be caught between her and the palm of one of those goliaths if she managed to get caught again. Besides, the mere presence of them seemed to scare her critters witless.

Maybe I should let her out, then? continued the voice in her head. But... no, there were too many things that might hurt her if she got into them. She might start nibbling on poisons, or sneak into a hungry critter's cage...

Finally, she withdrew her hand, closing the cage once more. Slipping her glove back on, she patted the cage, whispering "Bye bye, girl".

Naltaibur exited the lab with her sword drawn, in case anything lurked on the other side. Thankfully, it seemed nothing was, and she shoved the cabinet back into's it's place, more out of habit than for security for her lab... after all, something had found the secret entrance easily earlier.

She made her way through the streets, wary in case any more monsters were still present, but it seemed they had gone. She tried to ignore the carrion stench that wafted through her mask, but with the dead so numerous, it was hard. All around her were dead Therionians, most of them squashed like the soldiers had been when she had first emerged from her now-ruined home, leaving not corpses, but just a horrible red coat of gore. Yet, she wondered if they were the lucky ones - surely, they had died instantly, unlike the whole corpses she saw, who almost universally had had their throats ripped apart or crushed.

From the corpses surrounding her - an intact limb here and there, clothes - Naltaibur could tell that the invaders had killed few women - and those that they had, had been quite old, probably long barren. She'd seen other girls and had been raped herself, right in this street, so it wasn't too far of a jump to conclude that they were abducting all the women from the city... probably to birth another army, so they could do it all over again. She felt the bile rising in her throat; how many other cities had they destroyed like this? She didn't know if she could stop them from, but she had to at least try.

Thankfully, nothing came out to attack her as she made her way to the Thunder God's temple. The heavy front door was barred, and the building intact - a hopeful sign that she was not the sole survivor of Therion. She didn't want to crack the defenses in the front, so she went around the building, to the rear entrance. Hopefully, she would be able to get inside there. The guard tower looked like it still stood off in the distance, but she wanted to know about this place first.

Dolly sniffed at her hand occasionally as Naltaibur rubbed the winged rats back, but she had long since stopped biting, not even playful nips. The rat gave a little squeak, and then retreated to one of her little burrows in the sawdust coating the bottom of her cage as Naltaibur withdrew her hand hand and sealed it. What the fate of her experiments might be from then on, the mutated night elf didn't know, but she'd done all that she could think of for them, in order to make them survive for as long as possible.

The temple of the thunder god had two other entrances besides the warded main entrance, one a side door used most often for taking things down into the basement, and the other a small door in the rear that was used by the clergy to enter their private chambers. Deciding that the service entrance might be a bet, Naltaibur walked around the church, but the very moment she turned the corner, she spotted a man standing in the alleyway. His back was turned toward her, and his chest was heaving. He was naked, and also fairly muscular, heavily built but lean, rather than just bulky. His hair was short and dark, and from a number of things that she could see quite plainly, Naltaibur doubted that this man was even a day older than 30. He probably wasn't even older than 25, though she couldn't be quite as sure about that. He was, at least for the moment, ignoring her as he stared down at something at his feet, which Naltaibur couldn't quite see in the dim lighting.

Naltaibur rounded the corner of the temple... only to stop midway and retreat behind the corner again.

She'd seen someone... peeking around the corner, she saw what looked to be a man... except, he was naked. From just her walk to here from her home, she knew the invaders had killed men, and even if he had somehow escaped that fate, she knew they could also turn them against their own kind, stealing away their mortal shells and doing god knows what with their mind and soul. There was no way this man could have survived the invasion - much less while naked.

She turned back to peek over her shoulder, wary of being exposed to such an open space like that... especially with her rear sticking out as it was. She knew the lust-driven ways of these freakish gray monsters, and the layers of heavy clothing covering her did little to assuage her nerves.

But... she also saw a vague outline at the man's feet, and she needed to know what it was as well. Anxious to get out of the open, she hurriedly began whispering spell known as "Allsight", weaving a string of words of power that she practically felt scribing themselves on her eyes, stripping away all that hindered her sight - outlines growing more distinct as the contrast of near and far and tiny differences in dark and darker deepened. Things almost appeared closer than what they were, and she found herself noticing things from several feet forward of her as if she were right up against them.

As Naltaibur stared down the alleyway toward the naked man as he stood heaving over the dim figure. Her spell, uttered under her breath, caused magical constructs to form within her eyes themselves, glyphs forming just in front of them and causing the world around to become far more defined than it had been prior to her spell. The lack of light was still a problem, but not quite as much of one as it had been before, and as such, Naltaibur began to notice things.

Firstly, as she stared down the alley at the naked man, she could see the numerous scars and blemishes on his body, some old and some new. The likelihood of the young man having been a soldier of one sort or another seemed fairly high at this point. Secondly, the figure at the mans feet became more defined, and even in the low light, Naltaibur could make out a few details. Firstly, the collapsed figure was a girl, curled up into the fetal position. She was bare naked and as thin as a rail, and Naltaibur could see bruises and cuts covering her body. Whatever had beaten the girl hadn't been gentle about it, and she was shivering visibly in the cold night air.

Two figures suddenly appeared at the opposite end of the alley, slowly approaching the girl and the man. He tilted his head up, but didn't otherwise react to their presence. With her enhanced sight, Naltaibur could see that the two were a pair of women, their skin glistening with slime, and who stayed no farther than arms reach from one another as they approached. Both had long, thick hair, one of dark red and the other as black as a ravens feathers. They tilted their heads slightly in her direction as they approached the fallen girl and the man standing over her, and the heaving man suddenly spun around, and began emitting an inhuman growl. He immediately started charging right toward her, covering the ground quickly enough that he was already practically on top of her by the time Naltaibur had a chance to react. The two slime-covered women clasped hands, and were already well on their way over as well, though their slow pace meant that she might at least have time to deal with the man before they came for her. They were about fifty feet from her, and only twenty from the collapsed girl.

Naltaibur took off her hat and peeked out into the darkened alley, trying to hide as much of the mask's overlong beak as she could behind the stonework corner. She could make out clearly several features on the muscled figure - but he was likely already beyond her ability to help. More concerning to her was the woman on the ground. Judging from her build, she looked to be quite frail, and probably hadn't taken the vicious beating that made all those bruises well...

The sudden appearance of another pair of girls - undoubtedly another Gemini, from their mannerisms - gave Naltaibur pause. She watched to see what they were doing, if they had any weapons, if any more would appear, trying to come up with a plan in the process. She bode her time, hoping for an opening of some sort... passion aside, she was still far from a warrior.

She waited, letting precious fractions of seconds slip away for an opportunity that never came. Enhanced senses notwithstanding, Naltaibur barely noticed the tiny movement they made - still processing the movement when she heard the horrible noise of discovery coming from the man.

Her face obscured by her blank mask, Naltaibur's surprise was nevertheless evident in the jump that shook her frame. She recovered quickly, and hurriedly pulled some power from her spiritual core. Wrapping it around the force of her will, she stretched it out to grasp at the charging once-citizen's mind, mentally screaming "STOP!" through it, before shooting an image of the linked bodies slowly making their way up the alley crumpled and on the ground like the unfortunate victim further down the alleyway. She felt a painful, sucking pinch as her mind reached out - telltale sign that she was overextending herself, but she doubted she could fight him off... and even if she could, she would undoubtedly be unfit to take care of Gemini or help the girl.

Resistance checks are d20 + something, in this case your 39, vs d20 + something else, in this case the enemies Resistance.

The man shuddered and stopped at Naltaiburs psychic command, the lasso of power she'd used wrapped securely around the mans mind. She felt something similar to what she'd found in Subject Gemini, a mind that had once been a mans lane dormant. As with the twins, his soul was gone to parts unknown, leaving his body little more than an empty shell, though this time she felt no strange presence within him. He also quite clearly lacked Gemini's slimy coating, and she wondered if the two might be linked. Regardless, Naltaibur could clearly sense one thing within her controlled subjects mind: Rage. Natural, instinct-born fury, the likes of which she'd seen only in the most unruly of her specimens, filled him, but it was largely directionless. So long as he was doing something violent, Naltabiur didn't doubt that he would be exceedingly easy to control.

Meanwhile, the slimy duo reached the fallen girl and stopped. Both of them crouched down, and began brushing their hands over her skin, smearing her body with slime. The beaten girl shivered visibly, and Naltaibur could practically see pieces of the girls essence being broken off and taken by the thing that inhabited the two bodies, the alien spirit growing stronger as it began consuming the girls soul. Unless something was done about that immediately, Naltaibur feared that the girl would suffer the same fate as the two girls that now hosted this second Gemini. The man whom she now controlled was within about thirty feet of them, and Naltaibur herself wasn't much closer, but they had precious little time left to act. The man, seeing Naltaiburs second set of mental instructions, turned and started toward them, but he likely wouldn't reach them in time.

As the pair started their work on stripping the helpless girl's soul from the body it rightfully belonged to, a new wave of anger surged forth in Naltaibur. They had the gall to do that, right here, right in front of her?! She needed to stop them, before they could add another travesty to their immeasurable list.

She knew there was no way for her to reach the flying mass in the sky that had probably birthed, or even was the spiritual bodysnatcher of these poor girls... but if it inhabited these girls as well, maybe she could strike out at it, despite the distance between their physical bodies. Despite the strain she'd put on the core of her power already, she knew she had to stop them right now. That girl's life was at stake!

She reached out again, an instinctive action she'd learned to do after the second time she'd tried to correct the anomalies clear on her skin. Through it, she sent a wave of power - but instead of seizing control, she simply used it and burnt through whatever was left, shared between the two skulls.

A vein of doubt lingered in her mind - if she did this, destroyed the mind the two bodies shared... what would be left of the two souls that it had stolen them from? If some even faint trace of attachment to them lingered in it... perhaps mannerisms, muscle memory... could they...

No, they couldn't. Even if they could, she wasn't able to do anything for them. She needed to focus on the one she could save!

Through the mental hold she still had on the man, she changed her orders, ordering him to fling them as far as he could from the shivering innocent. She then started to make her way towards her - she needed to get that slime off of her, soothe her wounds and get her to safety, before something else found them... or she lost her psychic grip.


Mind-Break on 2girls. Spending 11 EP and 2 HP for X=9. Should be res vs 36, right?

I've been wondering for the longest time what the "Mindless" flaw does. Mind if I asked? I thought for the longest time it basically meant they were immune to my spirit powers, for whatever reason.

Pain and mental exhaustion scythed into Naltaiburs psyche as she called upon her powers again, drawing more of her swiftly dwindling energy and using it to try and erase the two girls shared mind. There was barely even a hint of resistance against her sudden, violent psychic assault before she simply wiped away the things mind. They shuddered for a moment, and then collapsed on top of the wounded girl, and her controlled subject rushed forward and dragged the two now lifeless bodies away. He left them at the edge of the alleyway, and then returned, waiting for further orders. She could feel the mans rage-filled mind beginning to fight off her control, however, and Naltaibur knew that she couldn't maintain her hold for much longer before the mental battle would require all of her concentration.

For good or ill, the second occurrence of subject Gemini that she'd encountered had been destroyed, this time through erasing its mind rather than crushing one of it's skulls. A far less messy way of going about it, at least. The nude man before her was still under her control, but she had to figure out just what to do with him, and quickly, or he would resort to attacking her just like some others had done. She doubted whether she might be able to restore his mind, but finding out for sure would require a great deal of research and study. The girl at her feet was unconscious still, but she only had a very small amount of the slime on her, at least.

Now, Naltaibur just had to figure out what she wanted to do.

(Mindless just means that they can't be talked to. Psychic powers work on them just fine still.)

Naltaibur made her way over to the victim, quietly reciting to herself the words that made up the simplest of her healing magics. Though it lacked the potency of more powerful spells, it merely needed ambient power to be cast - a great boon, as she'd completely drained herself dealing with those two, and though she still had her weapons, she wasn't nearly skilled enough with them to fight off anything else. In this sacked cityscape so far from the Therion she knew, that teemed with who knew how many other invaders that could take their places, she couldn't afford to be caught again... at least, not before she was able to replenish her magical strength.

When she reached her new patient, she completed the spell, exhaling the last syllable as she knelt down to her, feeling it strip power from the air as it traveled through the holes in the end of the ceramic nose of her mask and down to the battered woman, a scintillating wave that grew in brightness to her magical senses as it drifted down. No such thing would be visible to a non-mage, but for those who were versed in the magical arts, they would see as she saw - a growing wave that bathed her in a silvery glimmer of magic. Those without such gifts, though, could still easily see the mark of her work, as her bruises and injuries began to fade.

The dominated male returned. She'd guessed he was a soldier, now turned against his countrymen... is this what they might do to her if they caught her? Before she could pursue that line of thought any further, she began to feel him begin to chafe against her mind-leash... and without a table or chains to tie him down to here, she couldn't simply contain him, like he had the first Subject Gemini. With a twinge of regret, she gave him a last, suicidal order - leave the church, find one of his ilk - invader or subverted - and beat it until it or he was dead. Repeat as possible.

As he rushed off to his hopeful-doom, far from here, she sought to hurry and get off the street. She hoped the girl would hurry and regain consciousness, but until then, she'd have to carry her. She hefted her up and onto her shoulder, and made for the back entrance to the church, wiping off the goo they'd managed to cover her with and praying to it's god that it had kept it's place of worship safe.
