Re: Drawings from Sin

Haven't had much time for drawing as of late, but I did sketch these up, hope to fill it.

Hey it's been a while and I see you've done a lot of progress!
These ladies look much more dynamic and proportioned, nice job!
Keep it up mate, I like the effort you are putting on it! :)

Thanks, but don't be afraid to point out mistakes or things I could refine. Also I'm glad to see you back.
;)

Now to some profile practice from yesterday,

I hardly ever draw profile views, so I needed to get some practice in.

And one from today,

Yes I know one calf is off, but which foot looks better?

Well if I have to point out something I'd tell you to keep an eye to proportions and volumes.
Your strokes and lines have improved a lot. The figures you are drawing are much smoother than the previous ones and, as I already said, I see you are visibly improving with every sketch.
Now, if I were in you, I'd start caring more about proportions and volumes.
Drawing simple, plain solids to handle easier perspective might help you a lot! :)

Nice job overall!

/edit

Made a simple sketch to explain what I mean with volumes.

Also check these out!

Re: Drawings from Sin

Been away, just saw your post Vicis, great advice, I will try it out.
;)

(While I was away.)
Always practicing when able.

I really feel like I'm lacking something.. skill, dynamics, idk. I try to pull art out of the lines or emptiness like others and I don't pull out.. what I want to see.

Ugh, more practice I guess, I need to learn more shading, more hair, more sense of perspective, and how bodies change in fluid motion.

Oh and backgrounds, I need to learn those, and how to create them.

I've started using shapes more in my drawing, it's a start in the right direction I believe.

The above it just a.. practice attempt, more of a sketch.

Re: Drawings from Sin

You're steadily improving, Sin.

Agree that many of them are lacking a sense of dynamism. I think that might partially due to drawing them all with the same line thickness, so that you can't really convey finer liner that indicate twisting limbs and such, but I'm not an artist so what do I know.

I see you're delving into foreshortening and perspective, that's going to make things look more dynamic too.

Craw,
Yeah I'm trying to learn about line weights.

-And now,
A little more time put in.

Re: Drawings from Sin

Practice makes the master. :D
I am not sure if advice I want to give is going to help in anyway but I hope it will :)

Perspective is a wonky thing, are you familiar with perspective lines? It helps a lot when trying to draw backgrounds and charas.
, it scales nicely. That point from where every line comes from is called vanishing point.
Good way for making those lines, easy and quite precisely on paper, is by simply sticking a pin where vanishing point should be and using a ruler (also helps making nice effects if lines are coming from 1 point, like dramatic speech bubbles xD).

Another thing that people barely mention is angle of paper itself. Like, in my case if I try stuff on flat desk, there is a huge chance I will screw up perspective when sketching. Before I switched to digital I sometimes used books + chopping board to create "angled desk" (you work with what you have xP). It depends on person himself and may be not related at all.

But... it may just be me babbling and I may have no idea what I am talking about xD

Re: Drawings from Sin

Yoshiiki,
Thanks for the advice, it's always welcome.

Yes I've studied the vanishing point, and lines of perspective, I'm still learning how to implement them.
;)

-Oh and when I draw it is not on a very angled surface, so yes this could be affecting my works outcome.

Re: Drawings from Sin

I posted some of these a week ago or something, but I had added more which I've yet to show.

Re: Drawings from Sin

I'm actually in the process of moving with my family, as well as other things being hectic, so haven't been drawing.

-But I did find an older sketch book I was sharing with my son, I'll be sharing some pictures from that until I get back to drawing.

Re: Drawings from Sin

Hey man! I see you did a lot of work here!
I see you significantly improved the volumes and also the detail!

As you said few posts above there is much to do but that is the rule for everyone! We never, ever stop learning so keep it up!

Also, if I were in you, I'd try ask "Santa" to bring you a Wacom tablet! I'm sure you'd love working with it!

Keep it up and nice job again! :)

Thanks V!

I haven't been doing any drawing, needed a break, but as an artist your mind never stops studying the world around, nor the things in it.

Soon hopefully, will be the time for me to start again.

Be well my friends!
