So, just noticed a scary banner on the English dlsite (you got it on all age and adult page).
Dlsitedown.jpg

Seem like the next step after the creation of DLpay system (a way to buy point for English and Japanese site using westerner avaiable 3rd party payement like paypal).
Sadly, no more news. Clicking on it just bring you to (with an English translation if you turn the language to English -upper right of the dksite page) telling you all the wonder of Dlsite and a link to create an account at the bottom.

So, what happen to your English account ?
- Do we get a transfert option to the Japanese site ?
And if you got an account on both, can you merge ?
- Do yo lose all your stuff ?
....
...

Well, time to fear and talk until we get some more info.

I doubt they'll close this year, but there no telling when they'll close if they really plan on doing it, so time to grab and save all your stuff on your English account.
And there may very well be a lot less of work released on the English side, even if there a transfert / merging with the Japanese side...

It looks like that might have been accidentally released early. There is no other information supporting that change which you would see a much larger explanation (or at least some explanation). There has been alot more movement when it comes to payment systems than usual. Pornhub just deleted 80% of it's content and went on lockdown after Visa and Mastercard pulled out of the website, Epoch, which is Paypal's method of paying for Nutaku has pulled out of that website as well. It seems like western payment processors are rapidly turning against Pornography and with this DLpay system, i think DLsite is just trying to protect themselves.

There are certain flaws with English Dlsite, for one, you don't get all of the titles on the english version and most of the titles are in japanese. Theres not much reason to use it other than the english translations put there, but if they are put on the Japanese version instead it won't make much difference.

This change requires a English version of japanese dlsite, which isn't that difficult to do. I think DLsite is wise to proactively respond to the biggest porn website on the internet getting completely destroyed based on the whims of a couple credit card companies folding under public pressure.

Pornhub had also been under fire for a long while about child pornography, revenge posting/porn, presence of copyrighted stuff, etc.
not sure about Epoch, but Paypal is known to be against porn.

as for English DLSite, another reason is that, until recently, it was easier to use for non Japanese.

It should be about the same now because the Japanese version has English language as a setting. I have to be honest, i buy almost everything on the japanese version, i only buy something on the english version of DLsite if it has an English translation, but that is normally included as an option in the base game or an English version becomes available for a stand alone client (like with the Sequel series).

The lack of info about what will happen to English DLSite accounts and purchases made on them is what would worry many right now.

My assumption would be that past purchases will be available through , even if the entirety of DLSite Eng vanishes, especially since the unification of DLSite Eng and plain DLSite accouns. It used to be that a game getting delisted on DLSite meant that it was gone even for those who'd bought it, but nowadays even if the store page vanishes, the game remains on DLSite Play.

(Japanese) DLSite UI is still a mess language wise. ^ and that doesn't answer the question regarding bought points.

I've got accounts on both DLsite English and DLsite. While it shows both accounts as active and linked, the content that I've purchased on Dlsite English (i.e. all of it) is not available on DLSite Play for me when I'm logged into the Japanese DLsite. Don't know what's gonna happen with that moving forward, but I guess I'll just buy things on the Japanese DLsite going forward.

Dont know how they will handle the "shutdown" - but i dont believe its a problem concerning payment methods. The mentioned "DLpay" allows you to buy gift codes with paypal.

So now you can buy on jp dlsite with paypal. (with extra step of purchasing the points gift code first)

Be interesting to see how long that lasts. Paypal is extremely anti porn, infact they are rumored to be the main organization pressuring Patreon to get rid of all of the porn oriented content on their website. Mastercard and Visa recently pulled out of Pornhub but Paypal hasn't allowed services there for quite some time.

There seems to be a bipartisan movement against pornography in general and all of the big payment processors are willing to react at breakneck speed to disassociate with this content once someone raises any amount of a stink over it. I'd be willing to bet it doesn't end with Pornhub. Porn has alot of enemies and now that the credit card companies have bent the knee they'll exploit that avenue to make it even more difficult.

While Hentai doesn't have any "Real" victims, the content contained has alot of legal gray areas, particularly outside of the USA and Japan. Lots of other countries are deciding for themselves what big tech companies like Facebook and Youtube are allowed to show. For instance, Germany has no first amendment, certain types of expression are illegal, therefore they are pressuring facebook to make it illegal there too. And Facebook seems to fold like fuckin origami every time some government asks them to do something about it.

Well, using paypal to geat some code card to get point on the Japanese (and till it close the english site) is more problematic for paypal to presure since the point earned work for both "all age" and "R18" page.
You just can only unlock the card point on the all age version, but can use them on the R18 page.

Putting pressure or ending the use of paypal for Dlsite, mean preventing people to buy all age product too...

And yes, for now, we don't know anything about how thing are gonna unfold. Except the banner saying they'll close the english dlsite there absolutly no news yet.

DLsite appears to have updated the link on the banner. It now points to a in their help section describing the process of slowly phasing out English DLsite. According the link, all the stuff you bought get transferred over, and existing accounts will get transferred/merged to the JP site too. The only thing I'm a bit concerned about at the moment is whether or not the favorites/wishlist gets transferred over too (moving a few hundred games over manually's gonna be a pain).

Well, that's some good new. As for the stuff un exeplained yet. Either wait or just go forward and use the contact option on the site to ask the question.

I can think of a few point :
- Very rare, but some stuff that might still be up on english dlsite but removed from dlsite maniax
- The wishlist (if it's based on the RJ number, it should be easy if they code it right since it's just converting REXXXXXX to RJXXXXXX)
- Work that got JP and EN version as 2 RE (ie 2 different work) on dlsite EN but only got one version on JP dlsite

And, one can wonder what would happen to foreing ip once we got all transfered to JP dlsite. That would allow us acces to the VR code work - the DLsite Pro section... which was all about game NOT made to be sale out of Japan...

- Work that got JP and EN version as 2 RE (ie 2 different work) on dlsite EN but only got one version on JP dlsite

This is already resolved, they got a new RJ number and show up in the JP store.
E.g.

Originally, these two versions shared the same number, the JP store had the Japanese, the EN store the translated version.

Translations that once used the original work numbers were renumbered.

Well since I have failed to get my card to work in the japanese DLSite two times now, even when it comes to buying points on that japanese site, the deletion of the english site would mean that I will no longer buy any products and go back to sailing the seas, aside from the few things I support in Patreon. Not that I have any problem with it, them not wanting my money is a good excuse too and it is easier than ever to find any product online, so I guess I will just be saving that money next year. If all the games I bought on the english site and the points I still have there become unavailable, then that is even more of a reason to go that route.

They are not deleting the site, they are merging it with the Japanese one. It's a WIP, but the JP and EN accounts are already linked, the UI translation is ongoing, the previously EN-only titles are already on the JP side too...

them not wanting my money

I don't think the issue is on their end. I had 0 problems using my standard-ass card, and I'm nowhere near Japan. Maybe your bank is blocking Japanese purchases?
Even so, issues like yours are the reason they started this new "dlpay" thing, where you can buy "serial codes" using paypal (or alipay), and you can redeem them on the JP site for points.

"Please rest assured that existing DLsite English purchases will be transferred to DLsite before the closure takes place." - from the blog post explaining the situation. I don't know about existing points, but support could answer it.

I have a rechargeable credit card, mostly for security and comfort reasons. The card works fine to buy points on the English site and most other sites I used it on, though it refuses to work on Ci-En and the japanese DLsite, so you might be right about them being blocked. Nothing I can really do about it though aside from getting yet another card, which I am not ready to do given all the annoying extras involved in getting a credit card where I am from, so it is not working for me and therefore I do not really have a way to buy anything if they terminate the english site. Given that I do not have much shame I rather wait 1-2 days for the things I want to become available on a torrent or one of the sites I know makes them available to download, even if it is a pain in the ass to download them several times or missing out on updates, still beats the alternative.

If the card works with Paypal or Alipay (and most will work with at least one of those), then it works with . So it seems likely that even if your card doesn't work with DLSite JP directly, you'd still be able to buy points via DLPay.
