Fighter Maker 2nd games not working...?

Hey guys, I apologize for cluttering the forum with just a tech problem but I've looked all over the place and have yet to find a solution that works for me. It's getting pretty frustrating not being able to play any Fighter Maker games.

Basically every time I try opening the game, I get a black window like it's going to run and then it just ctd's. I've tried renaming folders and moving the game to different/less complicated folder paths.

If you are on Windows 8 you might need to install the Japanese language pack and/or switch your region to Japanese.

If you are on Windows 10, you are probably just SOL.
