In the mess, Deidre finds a couple dozen people eating their lunch, though it seems that most people are either going for seconds or about to finish, with only a few other latecomers. The food smells unusually delicious, and the main course seems to be some kind of roast meat with bwanga-roots, long and thin spicy vegetables with potato-like texture. The knight and his companion aren't in, and neither is Willow.

Not wanting to miss out on the excellent smelling foods, Deidre helped herself to a large plateful, and then sat down at a table by herself, though she wouldn't be too bothered to be next to others if there wasn't enough space, nor would she object to newcomers joining her as she ate.

If no one familiar turned up by the time she was done eating and no one started conversation with her, she would finish her meal quickly, and then begin wandering down towards the medical wing of the ship.

By the time Deidre finishes eating, the mess is almost empty, and she finds herself heading towards the medbay alone. It doesn't take long for her to arrive there: the area is even cleaner than most of the ship, but unlike what you'd expect from a hospital, the area is mostly painted in greens and earthen tones. When Deidre comes in, she finds the reception area empty save for the robot nurse that's there to take care of every day aches and minor problems when the doctor isn't in. The door to the surgery is closed, and through the glass, Deidre can see the doctor inside, in the middle of an operation, apparently.

Deidre was pleasantly surprised by the earth tones. Though they were unusual for a medical bay, they reminded her of the woodlands in her memories of a life lived as a huntress and shaman. She could see no sign of the injured girl, though she noticed that the doctor was busy in the surgery. Perhaps he was treating the girl she had tried to save from certain death? She took the fact that he was still working as a hopeful sign. It meant she wasn't dead yet.

Uttering a small prayer for the girl, Deidre walked from the medbay. She would only get in the way here, she supposed. She had just wanted to check up on the situation without being too much of an interference.

Unsure where everyone from her squad was, she made her way around the ship, exploring it a bit. Perhaps there was a recreation area that everyone was hanging out in?

Wandering around a bit, Deidre finds herself in one of the unused hangars where a common area has been set up. She can see several people playing video games, a couple currently unused billiard tables and other assorted entertainment going on, as well as Willow and some other squad members she saw on her first missions watching playing cards.

Deidre walks over to the card table and watches the game they are playing with interest. She's not much of a gambler but enjoys seeing people having a good time.

"Hey Willow... how's it going?"

"Hi Deidre. We're playing poker, want to join in?" Willow says, discarding a pair of cards and taking new ones, flashing a sudden smile as she does so, and laying down a flush that takes the pot.

"Hmm, sure!" Deidre said, as she took a chair and squeezed into a spot next to Willow. "I know you won't mind me playing. I'm easy money. How much are you guys playing for?"

She looked around at the other players, trying to put on a friendly, sociable look.

"One cred bets only. None of us has much money until the first pay comes. Well, except Carl here, who's been winning." one of the men says, pointing at the man to his left, who directs a wicked smile at Deidre before handing her the deck.

Deidre shrugs. "Okay then, one cred bets sound fine by me," Deidre took the cards in her hand. Damn! I don't know how to shuffle! "Uhh...."

She clumped the cards a bit awkwardly, and then put them down and spread them around in a mess. "Sorry, we didn't really get to play a whole lot of cards where I'm from," she apologized.

Eventually she'd gotten the mess sorted back into a deck and then she dealt out the cards and looked at her own hand, narrowing her eyes in concentration as she tried to discover whether she had a good hand or not. Now what was that order? Did a straight beat a full house? Were all reds a good hand? Hmmm....
