Games Discussion Thread

Re: Games Discussion Thread

All right, Resurgence is available for download. Grab it while it's hot (or wait, doesn't really matter). I only found the Striker so far, and it's ridiculous - absolutely impossible to fire it straight, at least without stability mod. I saw the Krogan Vanguard in action, and it's as powerful as I expected. As far as I can tell, neither of the geth classes have Sabotage, which sucks.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

I got a PS2 from my aunt a few weeks ago. Bought Persona 3, Space Channel 5, Sly Fox and the Thevius Raccoonus, and Kingdom Hearts for it.
Then, afterwards, I discovered emulators exist for my phone so I started playing Mother 3.
And now I'm saving up for a PSP to play the rest of the Persona series and many other games.
Along with all of these, I still need to complete Skyward Sword, Earthbound, Harvest Moon A Tale of Two Towns, a few other Harvest Moon games, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, most of the Megaman series, Books of Ys, Fable, Blinx the Time Sweeper, Blinx the Time Sweeper 2, Mega Man Battle Network, Mega Man StarForce 2, Final Fantasy, and Pokemon Black.
Also planing on 100%ing The World Ends With You.
Then, I didn't include any games that I plan to buy when they come out so
I reallly need to try to deplete this list by summer.

* sobs *

Somehow, my friend has a much longer list.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

But they already contradicted themselves during ME2 anyway, as far as Legion's claim that the Geth don't get the concept of spying is concerned. He quite blatantly states that they not only paid very close attention to communications between the other races, but also actively participated in the spreading of misinformation. Ostensibly as a form of social experimentation, but seriously, doing sneaky shit like that and then claiming the idea of going behind someone's back is beyond you just doesn't fly.

Watching comms and spying is again, not infiltrating. They don't have sleeper agents inside the citadel or anything like that. It's a fuzzy line, but its there.

And to think I'd been wondering whether getting a mouse or keyboard with extra buttons would be excessive...

(The shut down/start up procedure at around 6:00 is a fun part.)

1. Morality
2. Machines

Pick one.

Besides they dileberately proved that legion was able to lie.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

The extent of the behaviour doesn't matter - it's the fact that they're capable of underhanded methods at all. It's still a direct contradiction.
(Also, you used the word "spying" yourself when describing the Geth's actions. I'm guessing that wasn't intentional :p)

not really... I don't believe Legion said anything about underhanded methods. He said infiltrating, and seeing as he's a machine, I'm taking him at the literal meaning behind the word.

So... yeah I did intentionally use the word spying, because it does not necessarily equal infiltrating.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

To anyone that hasn't seen it.

Really excited BWv2 will have a really different story. I mean it may not be much more than just a change of scenery but still sweet

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Legion Lies to shepard as to what he's doing while shepard is in the geth servers during the mission on ranoch (fuuuuuuu didn't have subtitles turned on so that's probably spelt wrong), I don't quite remeber what he said he was doing, but he was convincing other geth to join their cause. Specifically those in the geth primes you see at the end of the mission.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Sorry, bit of a rant on this infiltrate thing...

From what I recall, the original 'Geth don't infiltrate' comment was made by Shepard to a citadel security guard, who was assuming a pair of asari were spies. That conversation may be able to happen before you even find Legion, and it certainly can happen without Legion there to add any comments. It was an offhand comment meant to clear a pair of innocent people from paranoid anti-terrorism, i fail to see why this is such a big deal, and i certainly don't see how it constitutes a plothole when they introduce geth with a cloaking ability into multiplayer a game later. nevermind the cloaked geth with shotguns that have been pissing you off for how long now?

Re: Games Discussion Thread

I think the whole "Geth don't infiltrate" thing is a little funny, honestly. Of ALL the plotholes,
I mean, Mass Effect Relay explosions suddenly NOT being supernova, the crew of the Normandy, the fact that despite it being said several times that the alliance and turian fleets use Thanix cannons, they choose NOT to use their best guns in the battle for earth. The dark matter plot that disappeared, the Catalyst and the fact that it was on the citadel the whole time, rendering the entire plot of ME 1 ridiculous... SO MANY PLOT HOLES! And people latch on to one wayward comment about the Geth not infiltrating other geth. Really?

I don't get why people are so worked up about the supernova thing. We know practically nothing as to how they work. Why on earth would anybody even assume that every single explosion has to be on the scale of a supernova? The first mass relay was destroyed by a blood meteor. The rest are set off by an energy beam that overloaded the relay and sent off some sort of power field on a galactic scale. If we assume conservation of energy still applies, it could very well be that the energy that caused the supernova was instead used up into producing the energy field. Not that far of a stretch at all.

Remind me, what was the dark matter plot again?

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Not that I really care, I agree with wonderboy but here's where the infiltrate comment comes from
Oh, and about the thanix cannons, I don't think it's such a good idea to be shooting those at something with earth directly behind it.

Sadly, demon souls is being laid to rest on online play (for USA at least) with the servers shutting down May 31st. I'm going to have to jump on it again for a proper send off.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Thinking about getting a prepaid XBL Gold card so I can play the ME3 multiplayer more (used the 2-day gold that came with the game). Haven't tried the single player yet, and I have had issues with multiplayer (one random crash, twice I couldn't see my teammates on screen or on the scoreboard but they were popping up in the kill feed, and numerous times I've had to return to the XBox home page because it got stuck during a 'migration' because the host left), but I've been having fun with it so far (at least on bronze, waiting until none of the classes level up at least even once on bronze before I pug on anything higher).

Oh, and about the Thanix cannons, I don't think it's such a good idea to be shooting those at something with earth directly behind it.

I think firing slugs at near the speed of light is worse for a planet. Thanix cannons are a stream of gas particles. If that hits the atmosphere, it will probably disperse. Not completely, but still better than a single chuck of solid.

Besides, they won't miss. They can't. Even reapers cannot dodge something that's fired at the speed of light.

aren't lasers, neither are reaper weapons as far as I can tell. It's apparently either a stream of molten metal or just a conventional slug with pretty light effects.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Wasn't saying anything about missing but more like when you manage to bust through the reaper's shields/ armor. I really didn't pay attention to the explanation of the Thanix cannons since I don't get to use them (fuckin jip that is), are they like bolter rounds and explode at a certain point after impact? If not, it seems like it'd go right through the reaper the same as a regular anti-armor round except at the speed of light.

that's why I said a stream of gas particles. At that speed I doubt that they are still in liquid state. If they are glowing that brightly they are probably closer to plasma than liquid

no, nothing like bolter rounds. Think of it as a high pressure hose that shoots extremely high temperature metal. Whether it would actually go through the reaper depends on how strong their armour is and how long the beam is sustained for

Re: Games Discussion Thread

I personally just find the thing with the thanix cannons to be a good example of my main problems with this game. The lore states one thing clearly, several times, but the people who create the lore and the people who create the game are too far removed so you get things like this. It is stated that thanix cannons are mounted on most ships now, yet we are show that they're not.

I wish they had the same writer as ME1 & ME2, maybe then it would've made sense.
