In today's news...

Re: In today's news...

Today we celebrate a day in 1886 when 3-500,000 American workers...

Only america could make the international workers day about themselves AND get the date wrong.

Re: In today's news...

Forgive my ignorance, but does it even matter if you can aim it at a rock. It hits without error, doesn't damage inanimate objects, and I don't recall it ever having splash damage, cuz even an arrow is a "missile," so it's not like it's a magic rocket.

Even if it's not a rocket I think it's pretty obvious a ball of plasma-like magic energy will not work in exactly the same conventional method as a basic arrow, even if it doesn't explode it's damage must come from some kind of trauma or force and traumatic force that explodes outward just seems like the stereotypical force for a magic bolt or spell that isn't elemental, then again when I roleplay I don't specifically use D&D, so perhaps I am mistaken on the exact minutiae of magic missile, it's not like it's brought up often.

And I suppose another potential pitfall of the idea is that the magic bolt for all I know could move faster than any averagely thrown rock. However, if it does trail behind the rock as planned, even if it MUST hit the rock, now the image in my head instead of the potential invisible man being hit with the magic missile bolts, instead the rock is propelled into his face a second time. Magic.

To be fair, according to your link, the Haymarket Affair which instigated the drive for the creation of Labour Day did occur in Chicago, in the USA. So in a sense, it is a little about them.

The date itself was chosen by European socialists to coincide with May Day, which was already a holiday in those countries - again, pointed out in your own link.

That the States would choose September for their workers' holiday makes just as much sense as the arbitrary selection of May by Europeans - it was convenient for them to do so.

Re: In today's news...

Eh, its a conglomeration, just like christmas, the haymaker in america was the catalyst, the french labour party declared it in the netherlands, the world followed suit, but its not just america and western europe that celebrate it, either way.

Re: In today's news...

No one was saying it was.

Did I do a misunderstand?*rereads* perhaps I did. My bad, am a dumb dumb.

Re: In today's news...

And now we live in a time where the typical work day is nine hours long plus an hour to get to work and another to get back.

Re: In today's news...

I always thought the travel time to work should be paid too, when I was 10

The logic was that they're demanding your time, so they should be paying for all the time you spend doing stuff for them. Including going to the workspace

Re: In today's news...

Have the bard cast animate object on the darkness. Only requirements are that you consider it an object (let's say I do and there's no way you can convince me otherwise) and it be non-magical to begin with.

Animated objects are considered constructs, which are indeed creatures, so magic missile can target the Animated Darkness.

Re: In today's news...

Bad news for people who get their anime and hentai from torrents, Nyaa has gone down and there's talk of it not coming back over a recent court ruling in the U.K, though it may just be some trolling being done by several people, it's been blowing up on 4chan, Reddit and Twitter. Take what little information has been given so far with a grain of salt.

No official news articles going into greater detail about it but here's some links to some of the discussions going on

And here's the court ruling in question:

I'm not sure where you get that interpretation. Wouldn't the requirement be for the GM to consider it an object?

I know, I'm not American. But as I mentioned, the Second Internationale chose the date in reference to the American strike.

EDIT: Seems like this was resolved above. Still, I'm not a damn yank.

Sweet christ I hope this isn't true. Can't connect to nyaa right now either. :(

I am really scared right now... Sukebei is irreplaceable :(

Re: In today's news...

Nyaa is down -snip-
So many people saying it's due to a EU court case when 'supposedly' nyaa got shut down due to , EU's got nothing to do with it.
But yeah, I'll wait at least a week to see if this for reals or not, seeing as the owner himself hasn't made an official statement on the matter yet.

Re: In today's news...

Before nyaa there was AniRena. AniRena went down, everyone cried how dark age was upon us. Then nyaa came and everyone forgot AniRena. Are you folks seeing the pattern I am trying to make here?

That would assume I'M not the GM. As well as assuming I'm not willing to ruin the entire session arguing my case (which amounts to: It is, it is, it is, it is, ad nauseum). How long do you think until the other players are saying 'just let him do it' ?
