In one last desperate gamble Laena cast her spell, just barely able to summon up the focus and will to do it by the skin of her teeth. Almost as soon as she had managed it Lily hugged her tighter, pressing her lips against the harpy's, and for a moment she felt herself give in to the relaxation and the pleasure both the darkness and the lovely fae beneath her promised... but then her attack on the orb of blackness had its effect, disturbing the thing just enough that the tendrils advancing up both of their bodies and Garret's receded into the orb once more as it was forced to regain its shape. Laena felt like she had been in a trance, even if only briefly, and though Lily's lips were still quite alluring she pulled herself away if possible, yelling "ahhhhh we have to get out of here! Stoppit!" She could feel it in the back of her mind, the whispering of that orb, the insistence of the shadow that she join with it... If Lily allowed she would quickly hop up, collect her clothes, and hop to the hole the fae had made in the wall. They couldn't stay there, not even a moment longer than necessary, it was just too dangerous.

Lily grumbily rolls away from Laena and starts swearing loudly. "Winter-damned, demon-loving, shit-eating..." conjuring up a colourful string of swearwords and insults as her hair starts turning black and she staggers to her feet, drawing a long breath before letting out an ear-piercing scream pumped full of power at the orb. If that failed to work, however, she'd make her way after Laena quickly, only just remembering to grab her clothes.

Hurling her blast of chaos magic into the orb, the mere casting of which left Lily's body surging with power that it was never meant to contact, the whole room suddenly shook violently as her spell made contact. The very ground seemed to quake, and an indescribably loud, piercing, inhuman shriek filled the room and left all three of their ears ringing painfully. The orb roiled like a raging ocean tossed by a hurricane, tendrils of shadow looming only to recede back inwards while the whole surface bubbled.

After only a few moments it was over, or at least it seemed so, but then it began to spread towards them like a black cloud, the darkness growing thinner but nonetheless advancing towards the shaken trio.

Right at bottom of blood groove tunnel. Right at first turn, a V split, and down a winding corridor into a chamber with a crystal chandelier and four statues. Then after bathing in the purification fountain moved through a hallway and into a ritual chamber.

Where Laena just wanted to get out of this terrible room as quickly as possible, it seemed that Lily was angry and quite possibly out of her damn mind. She cursed at the black orb as the harpy collected her clothing, and then suddenly cast some kind of magic at it, screaming at it... and the whole world seemed to shake! She had hit the orb with whatever it was she had meant to cast at it, and it seemed as if it was going to bring the ceiling down on the three of them! The ball of darkness let out a cry as if it were alive, a cry so loud that Laena's ears were left ringing even after it had finished, her hearing damaged at least temporarily. The fears of a cave-in that had been momentarily shoved aside raced back to her, and now the orb had recovered from its painful experience... They had to leave, and now! "Out out out outoutoutout!" Laena screamed, hopping rapidly towards the hole they had made in the wall earlier, looking over her shoulder at the fae and then to the side at her mate, desperate that they should follow her.

Lily grabs her clothes and retreats after Laena, keeping an eye on the orb and muttering to herself.

The trio managed to pile out of the room, Geren managing to snag his clothes as well. The orb reformed behind them but then went still, making no apparent effort to stop or intercept them, and in a few short seconds they were in some sort of narrow dirt tunnel leading both up and down at a fairly steep slant.

Laena breathed a sigh of relief as the three of them made it out of the hole in the wall, that terrifying orb of blackness staying right where it was and making no effort to stop them. She couldn't hear any voices in her head anymore, at least for the time being. Now, of course, there were other problems. The tunnel they were in was quite narrow, unnervingly so for the harpy, seemingly made entirely of packed dirt. It had a path upward and a path down, the latter of which she eyed nervously. "I would really... rather go up" she said, "but it seems like what we're looking for would probably be farther down, wouldn't it?"

As soon as she's certain they're safe, Lily stops for a moment to reclothe herself. "One way to find out." the sidhe replies to Laena, heading into the tunnel sloping downwards.

Garret would aid Laena in redressing as he realized their condition, his face a blush until everyone was decent once more. Then he followed Lily down, the faerie with the light leading the way down for several moments down the treacherous tunnel and ultimately into a chamber that widened, a small bank on the edge of an underground stream that ran perpendicular to the direction they'd been going. The space was still narrow, and the stream ran into a very narrow tunnel on the right, the direction of its flow, and seemed to speed up. On the left the tunnel was wider but lower, large round stones jutting out of the water.

"Oh great. A stream. That means these tunnels could go on for miles." Lily grumbles, heading left and using the stones to get over the stream, if possible.

Laena couldn't help but blush as well, muttering a quiet "thanks" when Garret helped her get her clothes back on properly. The three of them made their way downward then, Lily leading the way, until the tunnel widened out and was intersected by a stream. It seemed that the stream continued on some way, and that it was headed to their right into a much more narrow tunnel that ran down deeper. The left was a little wider, though it had boulders jutting up out of it. "D-don't say that..." the harpy implored as the fae mentioned that the tunnels might be very long indeed. "Surely that means we're going the wrong way, right?" Still, she would follow along behind Lily dutifully for now, being extra cautious about her footing.

Garret grumbled something under his breath at Lily's words, and was more hesitant than Laena to follow the faerie across the stream. "I think she's right," he said, pausing as they reached a narrow, muddy landing that was hard to stand on without stumbling into the water, requiring that the two heavier members of the group hold onto something while the hollow boned Laena would have to sink her talons into the mud. "I don't think what we're looking for would be in caves. We might find a way out here that would let us get around those demons, but we'd be leaving empty handed if we left now."

Lily lets out a sigh and turns around. "Lead the way, then." she replies, making her light hover over to Gareth.

"Well, it's just back there," Garrett replied, frowning. "But we still don't know where it is really... Did any of you see anything we missed?"

"Not really but, well..." Laena muttered quietly, "I guess I haven't been in much of a state to notice since we got down here."

"Well, it's probably NOT in the room with the evil thing. Or at least, we can hope so. But we passed a couple tunnels on the way there, we could look into those." Lily suggests, though she really doesn't like the idea of passing that room again.

"Why not?" Garrett reasoned, "I mean, that looks like a room where someone might try to keep something... And what we're looking for is supposed to be powerful. I mean, we might as well check the other areas first, but if I was a betting man I'd say it's somewhere in that room... Either way, we might as well go back."

Returning across the stream, peaking back through the hole, the black orb would be seemingly inert, but it would be up to the group what they wanted to do. Both Laena and Lily would be free to attempt to prepare themselves should the orb act up again, with Garret holding back hesitantly.

Laena shuddered as she listened to Garrett, hoping and praying he was wrong. Still... the odds were that he was right. "We have to go back, yes" she replied, "but I really don't want to stay there in that room for too long. Is there any magic either of you know that could help us if that... that thing... tries to toy with our minds again? I think I have something I could try. We should do it before we get there too, so we don't have to cast magic in its presence." She would wait for a reply outside the opening, though she began to cast her spell on herself first...

Cast Aspect of the Wind on self to buff Mind 18 (1 upkeep). Ready self to cast it on Lily if she wants and search that horrible room.

"I can protect myself - I hope - but I can't protect all of us while keeping the light up." Lily replies and whispers a few eldritch words that cause the air to shimmer around her before forcing herself to step back into the room and eyeing the dark orb suspiciously.

Casting Arcane Armor on herself for (70/6)*2=24 resistance after rounding

In answer, a wave of energy emanated from Garret, taking hold on both Lily and Laena. Comfort and confidence washed over them, making them both feel safe in his presence, and Lily at least would recognize the magical effect as the man grinned. "So... What do you want to do?" he said, "try to dispel that shadow somehow? Or just get around it and see if what we're looking for is somewhere else in here?"
