I sure understand your fear of bugs. I get mocked for it a lot, but I especially panic when there are grasshoppers around. My mother hated them, and some childhood-memories might've fueled the fire. Once I see one of those in my apartment, I approach to squish them, but on the inside, I break out in panic.

Also WOW, you know how to knit? I remember my mother doing that all the time when I was a child. Over the years, she would knit some gloves or headwear or even a pullover. It's a long-time investment as far as I can tell, and I feel happy to see that "the art" hasn't been lost these days. ^^
