Overview:
EGGOMON IS A MONSTER CATCHING ROGUELITE. Capture monsters, gather resources, explore, and don’t get bred by wild creatures!
Eggomon is the NSFW monster-catching game you always wanted, with a focus on monster breeding, bad ends, and enough randomized content to refresh replayability.

In Eggomon, each player “life” is represented by an in-game character, called a SCOUT, who is ‘lost’ if she is impregnated by a monster. The game only ends once all scouts have been defeated and claimed by the monsters, BUT during a playthrough you will earn exp, that can be spent at the start of a run. This way, you will reach new echelons of power that will carry on through runs. As the project develops, it will expand into an enormous world, including hidden areas, indoor and underground environments, puzzles, quests, and unobtrusive environmental storytelling. As well as many more surprises.

Eggomon ditches traditional RPG leveling up mechanics, putting the focus on BALANCING the combat so it is always challenging. There are still ways to make your team of monsters more powerful over time, but these methods are often separate from battling, so combat should be considered a risky, but necessary action that will deplete your resources (food + medicine). To keep playthroughs fresh, you will be able to choose new starting locations, and characters, meaning that whenever you RETURN to the game you can experience the newest zones, and monsters, without having to play through content you have already experienced.

The final game will feature over a hundred monsters, inspired from mythology and popular culture.

When you become a patron of Eggomon YOU will be able to vote in monthly elections to decide what monsters will be added to the game, as well as which game areas, and features should be focused on next. You will be funding the further development of the game, and the commissioning of professionally made assets. The LATEST completed version of the game will remain completely free to play for all, forever.

When reporting bugs, please be descriptive of your actions when the bug occurred. Most of the art will be redone by a pixel artist soon. UI and Audio assets are CC0, and many homemade assets and tiles for the project will also be released under CC0.

A few minor to moderate bugs:
1) Player's monster sprites not showing up at the start of battle unless switched out
2) After a certain amount of time in a single round, FPS tanks hard (especially if you're fast fowarding time and accumulating lots of monsters)
-Unintended silver lining is the stamina bar lasts MUCH longer than you probably meant it to
3) Can't use items while camping, if your mons get low enough obedience to force you to camp, you might be screwed (in varying levels of severity)

Suggestion, if possible to code it, allow items to be used on monsters from the items menu.

Yeah, camp UI seems to be bugged or unimplemented.

Captured and evolved a bunch of mons, the stable ui wouldn't let me select those that were past the right of the window.

I also experience the FPS tank, but I'm using a decent gaming rig with a bunch of RAM so it took a long time. My guess is you've got a memory leak somewhere and if a run continues long enough the game will outright freeze.

My second and third runs took hours and even then I hadn't lost just captured all mons and emptied all chests/fruits. I highly suggest having a way to continue a run after you've quit since the game's only going to get bigger and take more time. I don't imagine many people enjoying spending hours gathering loot only to lose it because they couldn't spend 3+ hours on a run.

Probably want to boost genetic and item XP gains since there's only one way to get each, item XP being limited to how many evo stones you can nab and genetic XP requiring you to wait between pregnancies. I've got gobs of battle XP, a decent amount of survival XP, little item XP and barely any genetic XP. Could also have a way of showing that scouts can be used for breeding after initial impregnation, didn't figure it out myself until late in my second run as I was messing with the stable trying to get the specific mon team I wanted.

My basic strat: Select cinder as first scout, hope to god for a fire evo stone to show up, use horse as first mon to run from any fights as you loot chests and stumps. If you manage to get a fire evo use it on the horse and it's even better at running away plus can wreck grass/bug, so use it to start working your way through elemental types i.e grass/bug>water>stone/firedog>electric>wind. If you don't get an electric evo stone get your scout impregnated by a thundama and/or evovled zaprat and they'll be in the stable after you've chosen a new scout.

Would be neat if you could get dual-types by having the scouts breed with a different type than the initial while pregnant and it's the perfect excuse to put in animations with pregnant scouts.

In addition to using evolution stones, use as many stat boost and regen boost fruits as you can for Item XP. Once you accumulate enough XP to gain some points, use them to buy extra evo stones and/or stat boosting fruits each run.
Genetic XP is fairly easy (if a bit tedious) to farm once you get 3 girls in the stable. Impregnate all three (ideally with bug types as they seem to birth faster), then spam the campfire (or hold Z) with unevolved mons in your party to cycle through the days with no consequence. Re-impregnate after they give birth, rinse and repeat, release duplicates to gain extra items (after unlocking the relevant perks).
It also strikes me as odd that the 5-cost survival supply perk only seems to grant Genetic and Survival XP as opposed to XP in all types like it describes. Item XP would benefit from this the most as it is easily the slowest stat to train.

Found something neat: buggos can impregnate a scout multiple times, even while they're pregnant with another mon's egg already. Don't know how they birth because I ran out of time to spend on this after I discovered it. Too bad bug stones are so rare or you'd be able to really farm geneticXP.

Totally intended since the bugs have the OVIPOSITOR keyword. The Keyword mechanics aren't expanded yet though.

The new overhauled map includes 2 new mechanics: Overworld monsters that can chase you (simple A.I. (for now)), and the ability to open a shortcut by activating a little robot man and cutting down some trees!

A VERY SHINY UPDATE

From the beginning I said I wasn’t interested in making monsters have rare ‘shiny’ recolors, since recoloring shit is super easy and tacky. Then the feature got requested 50ish times, and I realized I could turn the whole process into a voting reward, and I super enjoyed seeing the recolored monsters bang the scouts, and I also accepted that giving people what they want (in this case) is the key to success. So now we have SHINY EGGOMON.

The way SHINY will function in Eggomon is different from [Monster Catcher Game]. In Eggomon there is roughly a 5% chance a monster will be shiny when it is instantiated and a 1% chance that the monster will be SUPER SHINY. Monsters with a SHINY color also have a SUPER SHINY color, so every monster (with shiny sprites) will get TWO NEW RECOLORS, WOW. Twice as cool as [Monster Catcher Game]!

10 monsters now have shiny AND super shiny forms, and rather than spoil the gallery I will leave it to you to discover which monsters have received this recoloring treatment. Going forward you will also determine the shiny recolors in shiny votes, one of which is occurring right now!

ADDED: ALL SCOUT PORTRAITS. All the scouts have their own super special portrait, and even have some unique dialogue exclusive to them. Nothing too fancy for now though, but the personality of the scouts is starting to shine through.

Fixed?: Eggs should no longer spam messages when hatching simultaneously?
Fixed?: FPS shouldn’t COMPLETELY bleedout, and bleedout should be significantly slowed. This is an ongoing problem as all UI elements (especially text boxes) need an overpass so they are not updating when they are unseen. This is something Godot does not handle well or explain up front, but its a consistent problem for people making RPG’s (which are very menu heavy).
Groundwork~ You may see several new items in the inventory that you cannot find yet, as well as some items moved for reorganization purposes.

Even WITH all this shit added, I have withheld even more assets because... The ANNIVERSARY is coming! On the 20th! And with it, a proper zone based update along with items, and a new monster, and a new overworld monster that will properly patrol... So stay tuned. Also the Roadmap for 2025 is coming!

Are they just color variants? I suppose that's neat though I've no clue why people would REQUEST that. If they come with better stats though... ugh. The problem with those in [monster catcher game] was that they came with better stats and in a game where the balance is as tight as this one ( often enough it's under a 10-point difference between taking 2 attacks to down an enemy mon rather than 3) it makes getting them too much of a boon to not have to spend an hour re-rolling.

Shinies inherently having better stats hasn't been a thing for many years now, I think it was patched out in generation 3 or 4. People just really like their shiny variants.

Oh? Thought they had a better chance at having higher EVs or was it IVs ( the RNGed stat growth values ) now that those are a thing. Never had a shiny myself, because RNG hates me.

We will have sandstone Roxy, Kihikihi will come in black and red shiny variants. Auricsaur is the new monster.
Roxy has a different body type from the other scouts, so she will be coming later this month since she needs fairly different animations from the existing body type girls. Also holy fuck she is short, she is going to get absolutely destroyed. Seriously she will suffer like a Kiwi bird when pregnant because damn.

Meanwhile, over on the patron, anyone, yes anyone can participate in the free-for-all vote to decide Thundama's shiny colors.

First up. I adjusted two things. 1: Stumps no longer drop a guaranteed random evolution stone. Now there is a 1/3 chance that stumps will drop a random evolution stone. 2: Zephyr and Googala encounters are moved to the Western cliffs.

ADDED NEW MAP RESOURCE: GEODES
Geodes are a guaranteed random evolution stone drop. Also there's a small chance they will give you a Universal Evolution Stone.

ADDED NEW ITEM: UNIVERSAL EVOLUTION STONE
A new evolution stone that evolves ANY monster. Spicy. You start with 1, for now, since I will be moving this item and the other new items to act as supply rewards in the future.

ADDED ZONE: WESTERN CLIFFS
CliffsmapPromo.png The western cliffs are just WEST of the dark forest and is where you can find MANY geodes. There's over 10 in this zone and six of them in a strange rocky, maze like structure too, but what's that stomping sound?...

ADDED WORLD ENEMY: PATROLLING ENEMIES: GALEM
GalemWalkPromo.gif Galem march around the stone strewn grounds of the western cliffs. They aren't hostile, they won't chase you or ambush you, like Vedabug. However, if you let these rock monsters bump into you, then there will be a fight!

ADDED SHINY AND SUPER SHINY VARIANTS: GALEM AND KIHIKIHI
These shiny monsters are in the game, the voted upon shark variant and Galems new look! Galem comes in a cool marble tones, and an edgy black and red molten version that was supposed to resemble lava but ended up looking like a Shadow the Hedgehog cosplay because I suck.

ADDED MONSTER: Auricsaur
She's here! in the game! Held up the entire release by a day because I wanted to deliver her NOW. Shes in the western cliffs too, obviously.

Now onto the good shit.

ADDED ITEM: SACRED SALTS. If a scout HAS BEEN LOST, and is NOT CURRENTLY PREGNANT, you can recover her, switching to her next time you get K.O.d. Start with 1 sacred salt. This will become a high cost supply reward +/ quest reward in the future. NOW you can complain about how you can't switch back to your favorite scout while in the base (yet).

Fixed: Camping and battling overlap causing weird issues.
Fixed: Egg HATCHING SPAM MESSAGE. Please god let this be solved now. I cannot even reliably recreate the bug.
