Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

As Kylie moved in to port into the center of the circle, Tara began turning around once she'd made sure that the whole group was arrayed like she'd ordered, and she caught Kylie porting in, moving to do the exact thing Kylie had been telling Asha before porting in, and catching her just as she came in, aiming her spear that she had taken directly at Kylie.

"I just remembered that you can teleport. But you should remember also, that not every enemy we'll ever face can do so. In fact, barely any of them will be able teleport when you think about it. So the tactic is a sound one, when not in the middle of a wooded area at least," Tara said.

"I gotta agree with both of you on that. The tactic is a good one, and I noticed that she was making sure everyone else was arrayed before she got into the central position. But Kylie's right in that one of you gotta keep your eyes pointed upwards at least," Miu said.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Hahahaha, nice turn, But is that because I can port? or you're own luck at turning at the right time. she said, holding up a handful of poisoned needles from the ashera incident. Pushing the spear away, Kylie grinned, and then viciously spun. Needles whistled through the air, intentionally missing everyone and slamming into trees. Every single one of those is poisoned, and I will be collecting them. But just to prove it's not teleporters only? Stay still. She said, porting away, only to ghost silently through the trees and leap down into the center of them all without making a sound, and not one of them Save Tara would have seen it coming.

While it's good to keep a ring, eyes out. What I and Miu said is true. Keep an eye on the sky. If it's not a madwoman diving into the middle, it's an archer, or a large cat, or even someone with a gun. The high ground is tactically speaking almost always the most valuable position and if you know you don't have it, you need to be looking up, watching out for whoever does. Turning after forming a ring is fine. But next time simply give the order, and step back into the center. Yes it gives you away as the leader, but you already barked the order, that's already known to your enemy.

The only time that leap wont work? is when someone is covering the middle, or when you're on a completely flat field. One is easy to do, the other is rare. Stay in control of the situation. The moment you give up that initiative and create an opening is when you get struck. It's why fighting in pairs can be very dangerous. If both people are seperated, or worse, focusing on the same target, neither is watching their backs, so the rearguard risks getting picked off. Three man squads, or none. Right now Asha could shoot me down, couldn't you girl. she called back into the tree where she'd left the dragonkin, before porting her back with the others.

But here's the big question. Tara, you turned in time to spot me. Do you think you could beat me before I could do irreperable damage to your group? Girls. I have been having you learn to run, and dodge all this time. This is why. The proper response, when you don't know how strong your enemy is or what they can do is always to Run Away. Never fight if you don't know what you're fighting. Set a trap, bait them into the open, do anything else you can but do not resort to combat unless you are forced to. That needle trick? Every assassin who passes through my guild can do that. Pepper an entire group. Only thick leather will stop those and even if you kill the assassin, if they're poisoned, you may all fall victim to the venom. Each tiem you picked me out Correctly, I showed myself. An enemy will not, so instead now what I want you to do is resume the run, and I'll shadow you again. Don't react right away, listen for a pattern, try and figure out not where I am, but where I'm going to be, and then throw a rock there. When you accurately pick me out like that, Everyone turn as a group, Tara in the back with Asha. Asha, fall in with your back to Tara and remember your only concern is to protect your leader's back. Everyone else, follow her orders to the letter. she instructed, smiling at Miu to continue, and fading back into the trees.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"No I was doing it because we are in the middle of a heavily forested area, and things can come from above, it came to me about two seconds after I called for the circle. The fact that you can teleport only came to mind at the last second," Tara replied with a shrug.

After Kylie launched into her talk, the girls listened, and when she asked Tara if she could have handled Kylie and whatnot, Tara shrugged again. "I may have been able to, although remember I've been a bit beaten up and have only been resting for about three or four days at best. But regardless, as soon as you dropped down, if it were a real attack, I'd have attacked you to keep you from hurting anyone else, and at the same time let everyone else know with a shout that you were there, to turn and attack the only target that was being hunted by us," Tara replied.

"W-Well we did know what we were fighting this time around though. You never told us to treat this as anything more than you testing us, not as if something other than you were attacking," Asha said as she came back out, obviously feeling that Kylie's words were a little unfair, with Sheena, Lysa, Annie, and Akiko all nodding in agreement with their lieutenant's words.

"I know that you want them to succeed and stuff Kylie. I do too, a lot. But don't you think you should let them have a few victories here and there? It'd go a long way to help build their confidence enough to let them know that they are making progress, and not just always making mistakes. Just a thought, they're your Rangers, not mine. But I am helping to train them after all, and they need confidence. Not too much mind you, but some I think," Miu whispered to Kylie, pulling her aside so the girls didn't hear her. "Besides, I honestly thought that their tactic was a pretty good one myself, and the fact that they so quickly moved on Tara's call means that they are getting better at reacting and stuff too I think. Tara's got natural talent at this. Not that Asha doesn't either of course. With a bit more tutoring, the two of them could probably run the whole group when you're away, without any worries. Maria and Ilyana both would be good for that, they are... despite what you might think, very good commanders on the battlefield," she added, glancing back over at Tara and Asha.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

I know Miu, But... I'm worried. You don't know it, but I killed. Fuck it I'll tell everyone. she said suddenly, getting everyone's attention.

You think I'm being unfair. Talks aout Assassins doing this and that. Do you think I'm saying that because I'm an incompetent teacher. Or because I have a reason to believe you might actually have to fight assassins. It's an honest question.

Once she'd gotten her answer, she'd tell them the truth.

While everything went tits up here a while ago. I ran into not 1, or 2. But 3 Amaranthine Assassins. They were only targeting me, but it could have been for anyone. I'm being harsh because somehow, at some point, they got agents onto this island, and into this village. Miu thinks you need some confidence that you're making progress, and I agree. The way I was taught there was no such thing as progress. I had to accept that I was always wrong, that I was never perfect, that there was always something about a situation that I could and should learn. You do not need that extreme. You managed to accurately pick me out of the brush tailing you as a group. That's good. You took charge when Asha went missing Tara. Also good, no hesitation there. I'm just trying to get you to make these leaps automatically. Tiny things make all the difference. I almost got my head blown off for making this EXACT mistake in tear cove, not checking high and behind. I don't warn you that you may suddenly be tested like this because an enemy will not warn you. Miu, what would you do. I'm trained to hunt, identify, and kill people. So it's to be expected I'm a little harsh. It's why I rarely train them in person or test them. she asked, at a loss. This was important to her, she needed them ready to handle themselves.

Work a job? Want me just uninvolved? That's perfectly doable, the priestesses are perfectly capable and I may just be a lousy trainer. she continued, looking around.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"N-No, we don't think you're incompetent Kylie. Far from it. It's just... I... I dunno. I'm not good at this like you are, most of us aren't. I mean, you're freaking amazing at fighting... a-and everything compared to us. You can teleport, you can run and jump across the tree limbs in the rain. You can... do everything perfectly, and we can't, and it just sucks that we can't keep up when we really want to. You're like... our hero, and we can't help you and it's just... f-fucking frustrating," Sheena said, hanging her head a bit and looking thoroughly ashamed now.

"Yeah, I guess that is kind of what it is. It just feels like, anything we do, you can do ten times better without even trying, and it seems a struggle for us to even keep up with you a little bit," Lysa said, the same look of shame on her face as Sheena, and most if not all of the others had.

"No you're not a bad teacher Kylie. As Sheena said, far from it. Maybe a little harsher than I would be about some things, but it teaches thoroughly the consequences of not listening and getting things wrong," Miu said, patting Kylie on the shoulder before Sheena came over and wrapped her arms around Kylie with tears in her eyes. "Girls... do you want to continue this whole thing? Because there will be tough times ahead, and Kylie and myself will be harsh mistresses when it comes to teaching you certain things. To ensure that you aren't killed or worse. Maria and Ilyana will be too. We won't hold back the training when it really counts, because we want you to grow stronger, and better. It's going to take time for that to happen, it won't be overnight. But I will go ahead and say this, I've already seen a big improvement about some things with you girls. You're already managing to make these runs we've been doing without being so tired by the end you could barely move. I will say this though in your defense girls, that Kylie using the teleporting thing and stuff is a little unfair, because the odds of you having to actually fight one person that can teleport like that, let alone more, is very very low. Likely the same with fighting highly trained assassins like the ones Kylie mentioned, but not necessarily. Either way though, having the necessary skills and capabilities to counter that kind of attack is good to have. Tara, your taking order was good, the circle idea was good for the most part, but Kylie's right that you needed to have acted quicker, and done things a bit different with it. Your enemies won't always fight honorably. In fact, they likely never will, even if you do, so being ready always counts, and always preparing for them to not fight honorably, is a good idea," Miu said after a few moments, looking between all of them before sighing a bit and looking up at the sky for a few moments.

"Kylie's not going to pull her punches on you girls, so be ready for anything. From now on, Kylie's not gonna pop her head out or let you know you spotted her. If you spot something off and you think it's her, let the others around you know and stuff, form a plan to either trap Kylie somewhere, or outright trick her. I'm going to be watching from a good distance out, so that you won't hear my movements, and only Kylie's... good luck girls. We both have faith in you all, even if it might not seem like it at first glance," Miu told them, nodding to Kylie to get herself ready for round two, as she hopped off.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Ahh I see. That's what it is. Girls, everything Miu is saying is right. This is gonna be hard, and I need you to listen instead of trying to counter something you hear. Yes, I can teleport, and I'm using that but it's not to abuse you. I promise I haven't done anything with it that I couldn't have normally. So I'll stop, but it was to help me get better at it as well. she said, scratching her head.

Alright, Miu's right, no more yay you got it rights. I want you to assume you're being followed, and that you will be attacked. So talk it over, choose a leader, and a backup among all of you. You don't need to trap or beat me, remember that, if you can keep yourselves from making an opening, even if that means moving a little slower, then I wont be able to get in. You'll win this hands down if you can dissuade me, or stop me. AND if you win, I'll teach you all something from my own bag of tricks. she offered, smiling warmly at them. She'd never actually stopped hugging Lysa and Sheena.

When everyone was ready to talk and calmed down, she'd kiss Sheena on the head and pop back into the trees, hunting down Miu. I had no idea they looked up to me that much.... I feel crappy now she said, a pained look on her face as she watched them.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"Hmm... I wouldn't say stop teleporting altogether Kylie, just try and not spring into the middle of everyone like that and kidnap them, unless that's a part of it all and stuff. But like, if you're just moving to a better position, then feel free all you want," Miu said with a shrug.

After that, Sheena and Lysa broke the hug with Kylie and everyone nodded to her, seeming ready to start again. Smiling a bit brighter now, Kylie saw Sheena looking more pumped now, and more wanting to succeed than before. Once they had set out and Kylie found Miu, who didn't make herself hidden really, and the neko smiled and hugged Kylie. "How come, hon? And don't feel bad. I'm honestly a bit surprised that you didn't realize how much they looked up to you sooner to tell you the truth. It's fairly easy to see, from an outside perspective," Miu replied as she hugged Kylie, patting her head.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

It's harder to see then you think when all you do is see how everything can go wrong and just want to protect them. I've seen so many people die... Friends... enemies...family. Not my girls. I wont have it. she said seriously, before starting the hunt, staying on foot. They had one job, Keep her from attacking, or Stop her when she did. And she wouldn't cheat them or rob them. Though she would throw needles dosed with the paralytic. One as a warning, a fair reminder that she had a ranged option, to use the cover, and others if anyone got to far behind the group. They only passed if they made it back all together, even if someone was paralyzed if they could carry that person back safely, it would count as a win.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"Mmm, I suppose so. And... don't worry too much... I'll help you. I'm helping to train them remember, so... kinda my girls too and all," Miu said with a warm smile before leaving Kylie to it.

Kylie saw the girls standing about talking, apparently choosing their leader this time around and preparing a strategy. She could attack while they were doing so, but while they weren't moving, there was no opening to go in without them spotting her, and all of them had rocks now from the looks of it, and a couple of them had large sheets of bark from the trees to use as shields from her needles, and those that did were huddled to make a bit of a wall around the others while they talked and made their decisions.

After about a minute or so, they began moving, slowly and cautiously, and keeping close, but not too close in order to keep Kylie from catching more than one with a spray of needles thrown at them. The first real opening she saw, was when Annie sighed and groaned. "D-Dammit... I gotta piss girls, really bad. I... don't think I can hold it anymore," Annie said, actually twisting her legs about a bit.

"Alright Annie, we move together though, or not at all. I doubt she's gonna give us a break for this," Asha said, patting her on the shoulder, where Annie blushed a bit.

"It... it's hard to pee when there's someone staring a-and stuff," Annie mumbled softly, blushing furiously, but nodding to Asha who refused to let her go alone.

They decided to form a bit of a circle around Annie, with her on one side of a tree, and someone else on the other, both with a good view of above the, and around, while the others stayed close by and kept a watch out high and low for Kylie, most crouched and all of them with a piece of bark for a shield now.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Kylie watched and waited. They were doing well. They'd improvised the surroundings into makeshift shields, and had rocks. But then annie heard the call of nature and the group had to stop, Asha apparently the current leader.

But it wasn't perfect, and she wanted to test them. Taking one of her needles, she flung it out through the brush to their right, seeing if they would turn or make a mistake. If they did a needle would fly into the group to tag one of them, not to be cruel, but to teach them. When your defense was good, you had no need to jump at shadows.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

As Annie was trying to pee against the side of the tree, Kylie threw her first needle and rustled the leaves, where Annie jumped a bit and gasped, while the others did let out equally surprised gasps of their own, but didn't flinch too much, and all of the ones on the side Kylie could see, save one, all looked to the place she'd made the noise at, while raising their bark shields up in the opposite direction, the trio being Tara, Asha, and Akiko, the latter of whom was using both the bark shield and her big puffy fox tail for cover as well.

Kylie's second needle throw was aimed at Sheena, who was on point, and hadn't done what the other three did with her shield, but just as Kylie went to send the thing out at her, a grasshopper jumped right into her face and caused her to flinch, where it went off course and stuck Annie right in the butt. Annie gasped, looked down and just as it took effect, she had began to finally pee and fell forward face first right into the tree and slid down it across where she'd peed, and the poor thing's stream decided to go all over her legs as she finally hit the ground about 3 seconds later.

Akiko was the first to notice, being in the back, where she moved up immediately and called a warning out that Annie was hit, where she pulled her tail up to cover both her and Annie. "Aw honey, hang on, I've got you," Akiko said, quickly pulling a cloth out to clean her up.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Not... what she'd meant to do.... at all.... But lesson learned she supposed.

She felt honestly bad for Annie, but o well. shit happened, the world didn't wait for you to pee. Though it was INCREDIBLY Unfortunate what had happened. She drained every grasshopper to death within 5 feet of her. little bastards.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Akiko curled her tail around herself and Annie, and covered herself with the bark shield from her left, which was the direction Kylie had been, making it virtually impossible to tag her with a needle now, or Annie again. The others pulled back towards Annie and Akiko, pulling their makeshift shields up in a small shield wall around the pair, until they could get her up. Akiko pulled the needle out and poked it into the tree so none of them stepped on it or anything, and she looked to Asha for a moment.

"Annie's the biggest and strongest of us, gonna be hard for one of us to carry her and still be covered," Akiko said with a worried look on her face, and Kylie would remember that Akiko and Annie had grown quite close since the night the whole Ashera debacle happened.

"I'll carry her. You all form a shield for me so I don't go down too," Asha told them all.

After they maneuvered around a bit, Asha had Annie on her back, with a couple of large branches hastily tied over Annie's back to cover both her, and Asha too, from more needle fire, and then Kylie saw Annie's shield and Asha's both, tied to Asha's arms. "Alright, move together, no openings. Akiko, stay close and keep your shield up high just in case. Tara, you and Evelyn take up the rear. Everyone else, keep your shields up and move alongside me and Annie, stay close and stay low," Asha called out, giving the rest their orders, where they began moving, Asha crouched as low as she possibly could without tipping over with Annie's added weight to her, but she shouldered it proudly and refused to let her go. "Don't worry Annie, I got you, I ain't leaving you here hon," Asha promised the half-orc herm, and not caring about the smell of piss now all over both of them most likely, as they moved on along the path, on their way back towards the temple proper now.

Kylie could see a few very small openings in their little shield wall, but of course, that was to be expected when they had pieces of bark to use for makeshift shields, and not proper ones. It would take a very well placed shot though to hit any of them now that they were ready for her. Not once did the girls break rank though, regardless of how many needles Kylie threw at them, with Asha barking orders at them to stop and move whenever they needed to stop for her to rest a bit.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Kylie continued to watch, and silently cheered as Asha took up Annie and everyone worked together to keep her away from them, and safe. If they'd had real gear that shield wall would have been perfect.

There were specialized weapons for this, but Kylie didn't think that lesson was a needed one. Against someone so well prepared... no amount of preperation helped. That would be a lesson for another time.

She would tag their shields, she would make sure they knew that fear that she had never left them or given up. Let it settle in their bones, that stress. And when they cleared her, and made it to the temple, she'd step out clapping her hands. Yes! Yes! Fast is not always right! Yes Fucking Well done. Here's the antidote for Annie. she said, tossing the vial to Akiko.

You worked together beautifully, that was the whole point. I have only one criticism. And it's just how you carried Annie, it's not me judging, just a better way. Next time when you have a shield wall, take the time, to make a litter if you can. And carry them between two. You can move a little faster. she said, just offering a small tip.

That was perfect though. I'll have a harder lesson though for you tomorrow, one you will not like, one you may hate me for for awhile... But you'll need to learn it, so prepare yourselves ahead of time. she said, waiting for Miu to pop back out.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

As they traveled back to the temple, Kylie had a few rocks hurled her way from Evelyn and Lysa mostly, as they were able to hear her a little better than the others. Slowly but surely they made their way out, always keeping their makeshift shields locked as close as they could. After they got back to the edge of the temple grounds and Kylie came out of the woods, with Miu sitting on the side of the shrine hill watching them coming in, Asha set Annie down gently.

"While I'd have preferred to do that, I just thought that it was too risky to do that, because Annie's so big compared to the others, and we didn't have proper equipment. I could have definitely gotten one side and stuff, but Akiko trying to carry Annie's other side would have been silly, because the poor thing would have been all lopsided and the blood rushing to her head, and Akiko would have been forced to use both hands, so no shield for her really other than her tail. Just... too risky I thought," Asha said, with Tara agreeing with her.

When Kylie informed them of tomorrow's lesson and that they would probably hate it, they sighed a bit and Miu rolled her eyes. "How hard a lesson Kylie? If you don't mind me asking. I think they're all grown up enough to know what it is at least, so they can better prepare themselves and whatnot. Don't you?" Miu asked curiously, raising an eyebrow, while the girls looked a little expectantly to her.

Just as Kylie answered, they heard a thundering boom sound from within the temple. Ashera came sprinting out with Amara chasing her, her wings flapping like crazy as she gave chase. "Ashera... I said come back here!" Amara called out, with Ashera running, and looking both a little scared, and a little exhilarated.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

You... are not ready for this, I can already tell. Alright, Miu, I need you to tell me when they're ready. she said, second guessing the decision, before whispering to Miu. When they're ready to decide to leave someone behind to save everyone. she said very sadly, for the neko shift alone to hear.

Ladies, Excellent work today, really. I have to catch Ashera. she said, sighing as she heard Amara and porting rapidly across the field to stand in front of her, arms crossed.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Miu nodded when Kylie told her what it was, agreeing that they might not be ready for it. "But they gotta learn eventually hon. I hate it too, but... if you weren't going to teach them this lesson, then me or Maria one of the two would have, because no one is ever ready for it. I say go for it, I'll... tell them something real quick, hang on," Miu whispered back to Kylie. "We... have a scenario when new priestesses are brought in, that we put them through, to teach them this very lesson. It's all controlled of course, by us that know about it, but we have to make sure that if there are say... four of us trapped, or lost, or being chased, that to ensure the most lives are saved, that one is sacrificed to save the others. It's... harsh, but then this lesson always is," she added in a whisper before Kylie headed off to catch Ashera.

"Alright girls, we've got a critical thinking type test tomorrow. One that's gonna stretch your decision making skills to the limit. Each of you will be tested," Miu told the girls.

Meanwhile, Ashera was running like crazy to get away from Amara, and when Kylie caught her, Ashera gasped and stumbled a bit. "I... I didn't do anything bad to her. I swear," Ashera stammered quickly.

"She snuck into the bed with me and when I woke up she was inside of me, thrusting away," Amara said, looking a bit cross about that.

"I... I was horny, a-and Amara did say she'd help take care of me i-in that way, so I didn't do it to anyone else," Ashera protested.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Kylie nodded before moving to deal with Ashera.

Glowering as she heard what had happened, she tilted her head with a frown and a raised eyebrow. If you believed that you wouldn't be running. Anyone knows you wake them up and ask, unless you already know it's alright if you start in their sleep. Go on, take your lumps. she said, shooing her on towards Amara.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Ashera cringed a bit as Amara grabbed her by the ear and pulled her back to the back porch area of the temple, where Amara actually pulled Ashera over one knee and spanked her across the ass several times. "Once for every thrust you made before you ran," Amara said as she spanked her, with Ashera letting out a little eek with each one.

Miu looked to Kylie after she finished with Ashera and Amara, giving her a look that asked if she liked what she'd told the girls about doing that the next day.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Kylie did, and chuckled before pulling all the girls in and hugging them all tightly. Tara, Evelyn, listen to me, stay home tomorrow. As for everyone else Today? Bella's on me. Live it up go on. she said, shooing them all off for doing a good job today.

You know Miu, we're gonna have to make them believe it. And they're gonna need the whole week to recover when we're done... Hazel and Amara and Ashera are going to have to help Magic the performance a bit... she said, watching them go sadly.
