Re: Last Post Wins

Wasn't there a remake in the 90s or early 2000s? I'm afraid my knowledge of the Twilight Zone series is cursory at best, though I've seen a few of the classic episodes that I loved.

I didn't know if they were remakes, more like reruns I thought?

Re: Last Post Wins

Well, I guess "remake" is incorrect. There were follow-up series in 85-89 and 02-03.

Re: Last Post Wins

Well, I guess the real question is would people even appreciate them enough nowadays.

Re: Last Post Wins

That's similar to the Twilight Zone, or just in general?

Re: Last Post Wins

True Detective was pretty good. A lot of people really enjoyed Breaking Bad. There's Game of Thrones obviously.

For humor I recommend Community, kinda geeky nonsensical humour, but I like it.

And might I suggest looking up on some Scandinavian crime series if you're not too put off by having to read subtitles?

Subtitles have the same effect as the Twilight Zone?

I mean something that would have the same effect as the Twilight Zone.

Re: Last Post Wins

I think it would be something that creates an eerie or perhaps somewhat otherworldly mood and makes one contemplate on larger issues or just odd, perhaps unexplainable events.

In which case there are probably a ton of novellas and anthologies around (might I suggest "Tlön uqbar orbis tertius" by Argentinian writer Jorge Borges, or "The last question" by the famous Isaac Asimov, both of which are thought-provoking and fairly short reads).

Re: Last Post Wins

See that's the thing, I am looking for shows. There's nothing quite the same anymore on the ol'Tele.

Re: Last Post Wins

Can't say I've heard of any recent shows with philosophy in them.

Re: Last Post Wins

Well, True Detective had a shit ton of various philosophical concepts in it, though it's not a speculative fiction series like the Twilight Zone.

But does it make the viewer re-examine their own views? Introducing concepts is one thing, but it's another to make a viewer try and relate that to their own lives.
