I'm posting this because I am growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of appreciation for the original Law and Order. Whenever I catch an episode of L&O on tv, it's always one of those silly spinoffs (SVU is the only one I'll actually watch, but I still prefer the original). The torrents I've found for the original L&O are dead, and I haven't been able to find a single episode on Megaupload. Being one of the most popular dramas on television (and now I think the most or one of the most long-running dramas with 20 seasons), and being the parent to numerous spinoffs (including Special Victims Unit, Criminal Intent, Trial by Jury, and I think they just came out with a L&O: UK), I would expect a hell of a lot more appreciation for the original than I've seen. Am I missing something? Input is much appreciated.

Re: Law & Order

Can't help you. Never been into those crime dramas. I'm not even into much TV, unless its Battlestar Galactica, or HBO.

HBO is doing A Game of Thrones, and Sean Bean is Eddard Stark! Life is grand!

Re: Law & Order

i've always been more of an NCIS person...

every character is a steel clad stereotype but for some reason i can't figure out its fun to watch.

Good looking steel clad stereotypes?

Re: Law & Order

I'm with you sinful. I never watch tv with the exceptions of this show and House. Which is probably why this issue bugs me so much.

NCIS is fun. I like their sense of humor. It's really formulaic and predictable though.

Re: Law & Order

well everyone likes abby, but i don't think any of them are excessively pretty.

And the predictability was part of my point... it confuses me as to why i like the show when logic says i shouldn't

Re: Law & Order

House ain't bad... but I wouldn't sit down and watch it all.

I just don't have cable or satellite or anythin. Waste of money since I don't watch anything. Just wait for HBO stuff to come to DVD.

Re: Law & Order

House is good to (that an NCIS are the only things i watch), luckily i have the internet so i don't really need cable or satellite or anything like that.

Re: Law & Order

Ah the grandness of internets.

Re: Law & Order

Abby's stereotypical to the point where she almost makes me queasy. I much prefer Mark Harmon's acting and Tony's relationship with Kate and the computer geek.

And how on earth anybody can not fall head over heels in love with hugh laurie is beyond me =(

Re: Law & Order

Cause he's a dick? If my doctor was like that to me, I'd probly punch him. Still, tis funny to watch.

^i'd tap that.

That's exactly the reason to watch it. He's such a unique character, and the way he treats other people is absolutely hilarious. The fact that the whole show is done using his "American" accent is amazing (I only learned he was English three or four seasons in).

Re: Law & Order

its interesting that when creating the show the main guy wanted a quintessential American person to be playing house and other people just kinda slipped hugh laughrey in there and the dude fell in love with it saying how taht was so perfectly american.

Re: Law & Order

I still see most of them on late-night NBC sometimes

I laughed.

Re: Law & Order

I'd heard about that. Maybe it shows that British people are better at being dicks than Americans? =D

Re: Law & Order

Maybe? I couldn't tell you. Don't know enough Brits.

Re: Law & Order

I always kind of liked Abby and McGee.

I haven't/don't really watch any Law and Order, though. Pretty much the only television show that I've been watching recently is Eureka over on SciFi.
