Lily had been ordered by her elders to investigate a local cave. Normally such a task would be below the mage, after all, she wasn't some lowly scout. The call had only come after the last few who were sent to investigate hadn't come back, and included in this group were a few that were known to be more than adept at combat.

After the last group, two scouts that had focused on melee fighting, had gone missing, she was selected. The reasoning was that perhaps a mage would fare better, against, well, whatever was down there. The cave itself was relatively familiar to Lily, it had previously been used as a hideout by some local creatures, ones that had not bothered the elves enough for them to do anything about it, but now, it felt... well, different. And from her perspective, standing a few feet away, the dungeon also seemed a lot more green.

Lilly pauses as she reaches the mouth of the cave, scanning the area around her with her eyes and noting the strange increase in local greenery. Remembering that sometimes wild creature took home in such places, and that more combat capable scouts had been sent, she reached to her belt and drew out the tool she kept there. A simple iron bar with a hook on one end, and a human invention at that, it had sometimes been looked on with scorn, but the trusty weight of the object felt comforting in her hands.

Not hesitating any further, she stepped into the cave, keeping alert for signs of the lost elves or what might have happened to them.

As Lily enters the cave, she would notice that like many initial reports, there was a lot of green, mostly in the form of ivy, growing in a cave that for as long as she could remember was mostly barren. A few crushed plants here and there shows her where people had likely walked off to, although whether it was the scouts or perhaps some adventurer was mostly unclear. There were two paths that lead into the cave, one that went up, and from memory, should lead towards what was a sleeping area, and one that went down, which presumably lead to a storage area.

Deciding that the lost scouts would less likely be in the storage area, Lilly heads up toward the sleeping area. She moves slowly, not wanting to be attacked by her own people because she rushed in.

Perception: Success

While heading towards the sleeping area, Lily notices one of the vines on the walls starts to move. Searching around quickly for anything that might be causing the vine to move. To her surprise, the vine seemed to be moving on it's own, slowly creeping along the ground, and quickly heading for her leg! She was lucky though that she had quickly noticed and thus had some time to counter...

Spotting the strange moving vine approaching her leg out of the corner of her eye, Lilly reacts swiftly and immediately. She draws the energy in the air into herself, and then thrusts her hand toward the vine, sending a bolt of lightning straight toward it before it can touch her.

Casting: Autosuccess
Damage: 3 + 2 + 8 = 13

The bolt of lightning arcs from Lily's hand, heading towards the vine, filling it with electricity, and thankfully, only causing that single vine to twitch, meaning it wasn't connected to the other vines, most likely.

Secondary Effect Stun: Autosuccess

The vine appears to be stunned by the attack, simply twitching violently instead of moving forward.

Lilly concentrates on maintaining her spell, blocking out the outside world as soon as she is certain that she isn't being surrounded by more vines. She keeps up her ray of lightning, intent on finishing the plant off without giving it another chance to attack.

Damage: 8 + 2 + 8 = 18

The vine continues to dance around in what appears to be pain, and for the most part, there didn't seem to be any backup to help it. A few tears appear along the vine's length, most likely being the equivilant of the vine bleeding as it twitched violently, unable to move, it tries to pull away...

Stun: Autosuccess (hrm... note to self, add more monsters!)

Not wanting to have to worry about this thing if she had to return this way, Lilly keeps her spell up.

(I didn't have all that many different plant monsters did I?)

Finally the vine swells up and explodes with a slight electric discharge, the remains of it falling limp as the electricity ran through it.

Lily gains 2 EXP!

As the plant dies, Lily can hear some voices coming from ahead, nothing loud enough for her to recognize, but there was definitely something there. She could either forge ahead to check, or she could return back to the split in the road...

(I meant more in the fact that it had so low mind that it would never succeed a mind check to beat your shock)

Turning toward the direction of the voices, Lilly pauses for a moment to try and determine whether they were elves or something else. She continued on toward them a few seconds later, regardless of whether or not she'd figured out what they were.

As Lily rounds the corner, she sees the source of the voice, what appears to be some kind of plant person with a defined feminine body, was slowly making her way towards the elf. It blinks in surprise as it sees her, "What's this~?"

Lilly stops mid-stride, her jaw dropping, as she spots the plant-like person. She is so dumbfounded by the strange sight that it takes her a moment to recover. When she does, she says; "What, or who, are you? Forgive my rudeness, but, I have never seen anything such as you before. Also, you wouldn't have happened across a good number of my people in this cave recently, have you?"

The plant woman looks at Lily curiously, as if considering the questions she was being asked, then she smiles eagerly and approaches Lily, getting a little too close for comfort, "Me? I'm a plant person~! At least that's what they call me, and huh... elves.... oh! Yeah! Mother has an elf, like you, I think..."

"Like me? Mother? What are you talking about? Are you saying that the elves are here somewhere? Or just one of them?" Lilly says, oblivious of the plant-woman getting so close until she's practically on top of her. She doesn't outright push the strange creature away, but she does try to back away a little and holds up her hands for her to stop.

The plant woman nods happily, it appeared to be... smelling her? That didn't seem right... regardless, the plant woman twirls around as she backs off, pointing back at the direction she had come from, "There are a few more people like mother back over there, c'mon, I'll take you to them!"

"Alright, lead the way then." Lilly replies, and follows after the strange plant creature, though she does try to keep her eyes and ears open in case this was some kind of trap.

As Lily follows the plant woman, the sounds of what appeared to be pleasure started to fill the air, elf voices, as she would be able to recognize, it was quickly becoming obvious what the creature had meant by 'mother'...
