Magical Girls Lore Discussion

Magical Girls are a complicated storyline in terms of lore. When they "transform", they completely change clothes, and then some trivial part of their appearance changes like their hair color (which is enough to fool everyone), and then they get magical powers of some sort.

But this leaves a number of unanswered questions :

1- What happens if their clothes get damaged?

Sooner or later they will change back to normal, right? Will their normal person clothes still be ok?

2- What happens if they lose their virginity in their magical girl form?

Does their normal self also lose their virginity?

3- How long does their magical girl form last?

If they get captured and tied up, and other things happen........ will they continually stay a magical girl, or will they eventually end up reverting to their normal self, and thereby giving away their identity?

And for an RPG:
4- What happens if they find new armor/gear while in magical girl form?

Can they start using it? Will it disappear when they change back to normal?


These are vexing questions. I almost wish I had actually watched "Sailor Moon", because I think that's where most of the lore comes from.

Well, magical girls Lore is not unified since every story / world / anime has it's own lore.

Magical girls tend to split in 2 genres (I'm making it simplier) :

Kid version. You got many in this one, like Card captor sakura, Sailor moon.... As it name imply, it's aimed at children. So most of your questions became meaningless.
1) It's can't, or just get dirty and they reapear fully mended and cleaned when resummoned, and when undone, the normal clothing are intact.
2) can't happen man, it's not for kids to see such stuff
3) Lore dependant. From "forever" to set timer on untill the girls magic power ran out
4) I doubt kids themed magical girls would use such a mimic, although you may see a change in the magical girl clothing and / or weapons when she get more powerfull (like getting in badass mod after nearly losing to a boss)...

Adult version :
1) Again lore dependant. While it's not impossible to get magical clothes that are made from the normal clothing and imbued with magic, making the normal clothes as damaged as the magical outfit when undoing transformation, most work (even Hentai) tend to avoid it, because it require much more work to draw everything. Same for the magical clothing. Although I've seen H game where the magical outfit damage stay stored between transformation and need repair to get back to normal. - Default answer : it's magic, you don't ask logic from it.
2) Lore dependant, but most setting keep the girl in the same body, just magicaly boosted. As such, virginity lost in magical form would mean normal body virginity lost. Some Lore goes as the "magical girl form" is another form entirely, and as such each body as it's own physical status (although the mental scar of losing her virginity won't leave her when she transform).
3) As usual, Lore dependant. Most lore are on the "no timer", but usually, it require expending magical energy to manifest, so until the girl ran out of magic. Some put some timer (like at night only, or for XXXX minutes). There also some in hentai where it can be undo when damaging enough the outfit catalyst (like the big jewel they often have on the chest)...
As a sub-point, many Lore imply that the girl lose her magical girl power / transformation if her real identity is found out.
5) Since by Lore, most outfit are either made of magic or a different form which is switched for the girl real body during the transformation, the use of weapons and / or armor could be possible as long as it don't interfere with the magic in the outfit / body of the magical girl.


But as I say at the start, since there basically as many lore as they are magical girl work, there no definitive rule. Anyone can create his own set of rule for is work...

In the Shiboo magical girl hentai series, Lyristia is able to upgrade her magical outfit by finding magical feathers and entering a kind of crafting system with her familiar cat, allthough this does not change its appearance

Sometimes she reverts to her original form, but usually if defeated she remains as a magical girl, and in a sidequest version of the game she can remain transformed for a whole week after being captured. Frostea, on the other hand, reverted to her normal form immediately after being defeated in that story. I still haven't played the actual Frostea game yet. She's a bit loli for me. But I have it and will probably play it some day (and assume she is 18+ but just kind of petite, of course, since Lyristia refers to her as Senpai, and Lyristia is "obviously" 18 - her game being on Steam and all)

The series has not decided whether the magical girl's original clothing remains. In the hentai video they made, Frostea was butt naked in her original form after having been captured and taken to Hamidon headquarters. But in the game, she remained clothed in her original school uniform at the same part of the story. (I'm gonna say the video version was an improvement in that respect.)
