Castellan

An imposing armored figure that appears to be wearing something that seems to be a cross between some manner of fantasy-gaming armor and the Avalon Corporation's power armor that was used during the Battle of the River, there is little aside from his appearance that is common between sightings.

Perhaps the only other common elements are his weapon, a sword that seems to have variable abilities, and his unbreakable determination to prevent unauthorized access to the Chimney. Seems to have some manner of trust or connection to both Fatewatcher, who is quite the rare sight in recent times, and Doctor Stanton.

Doctor Nathaniel Stanton

Oddly enough, the man recognized as one of the more prominent medical minds in the past decades hardly looks old enough to have truly earned that reputation. Dr. Stanton appears to be in his late twenties to early thirties, although he's been seen with that appearance almost as long as Ark City has been in existence, leading many to the believe that he's had anti-aging treatments. And he's made something of a name for himself in those fifty years.

In addition to running his Emergency Care Clinic, known for being free for emergency workers (and, unofficially, any supers that have earned his trust), Dr. Stanton also works part-time as an instructor at the University. He's also been known to occasionally do contract work for Avalon Corporation's local Medical Research division. Furthermore, he's known to be a board member for the performing arts group, who many believe he helps fund, in part due to his residence at the group's Performer's Apartments.

He's also a regular at the Broken Shillelagh Pub.

A early PRIMUS report on him marked him as possibly being the public identity of one of the superheroes from the Battle of the River, "Fatewatcher". A later investigation, however, placed Stanton at the Avalon Corporation Headquarters in Oregon at the time of the battle, via time-stamped security videos. He is, however, rumored to have some means of contacting the mysterious Castellan. He's also been seen being protected by the hero, thus establishing the two as separate people.

The Publican

A man seemingly in his fifties, also suspected of using anti-aging treatments, the Publican is a fixture down at the theater complex. Whether involved in the latest production in some capacity, or just tending his pub, he's down there.

His moniker was reportedly taken as both a nod to the theater he seems to love, and as a joke towards the super-community, who have been rumored to use the pub as a sort of meeting area.

Re: Major NPCs Thread

Not an NPC, per se. However...

Avalon Corporation

Perhaps the strongest corporate presence in Ark City, Avalon Corporation had its beginnings before the Battle. Started by residents of the previous city, the company's main headquarters were opened out west, along the Colombia River Gorge in Oregon. While much of the company's positive reputation around Ark City comes from its material support for the reconstruction efforts, Avalon stands as an oddity among other corporations.

Initially a research and development company, many of Avalon Corporation's early products were protective gear for emergency workers and others who worked regularly in hazardous conditions. Over the years, it has expanded to include work in other technology fields, including medical technology, as well as into entertainment fields, such as game design. For the offices at Ark City, the Research and Entertainment divisions stand prominent.

With internal rules and regulations set in place by extremely carefully worded legal documents, perhaps the most unusual feature of the company is that in order for any of the executive officers of the company to get a raise or bonus, all employees of the company must receive similar raises or bonuses. Also, in order for any aspect of those rules and regulations to be changed, the founding board members must vote unanimously for the change. Should the founding board members no longer be available, then the changes can not be made.

It's strongly suspected that the founding members have all been involved with anti-aging treatments.
