Mei-Lien had been interested when she had learned about the EGG testing; she had been looking for ways to test her strength and to improve, as well as for material wealth. Testing the EGG offered both of these things to her, as she had heard that there were was a vast diversity of enemies to fight within it, and the monetary compensation for testing was substantial.

When she went in to sign up, there was already an opening for a machine, and she was quickly led to it by the staff. It was a relatively small, oval contraption that lived up to its name, and she was shown how to sit in it and operate it fairly quickly. As she settled in, she saw a menu screen appear that seemed to be settings.

Despite not being a computer person, Mei is quick to learn the basic operations of the hi-tech gaming system. Once the device is properly in her grip, she proceeds forward with the selections. "Oh.. It's one of these types of games..." the former champion thinks as she reads the somewhat awkward choices list. "Well, it'll be another challenge for me.."

"Rather interesting options.." the martial artist thinks as the selection menus slide open in front of her. Setting her usual appearance as her avatar in-game, Mei takes a short moment to ponder over the possibilities in the other two menus. "Certainly don't want any mere human to face me, I've knocked them senseless enough times to know how fighting one feels. Those choices sound a bit generic, but....

With her focus already on the coming fight, Mei picks the mountains as her battlefield of choice. Another minute goes as she considers the opponent, eventually settling on one level 1 demihuman opponent, letting the game create some kind of fantasy critter for her to battle against.

When Mei-Lien had entered in the options the machine took a moment to process them, and then she felt completely weightless as everything faded to black. Slowly the game world began to fill in around her; at first it was a little blocky, the textures fuzzy, though with a little time everything became smoother and sharper. When all was said and done Mei-Lien found herself at the foot of an enormous snow-capped mountain, a few trees lining a path up it. Soon enough she heard the sound of clicking hooves, and turned to see a centaur with long brown hair approaching her, an axe raised in his hands. Without a word he began to charge at her.

With her choices made, the girl is thrown into the shifting sequence, entering the game soon after. Surprised at the realistic feeling, she stretched and cracked her limbs to prepare for the soon-to-come battle. "I can see this becoming a hit among the computer crowd, and no doubt many other demographics as well..." she thought about the game as it loaded around her.

Soon enough, a steady gallop could be heard coming towards her. Readying herself for the opponent, Mei-Lien draws her body into a long-practised battlestance. "Bring it on, horsey. You'll be a good practise run for the real thing." she says in a half-voice before sprinting against the opponent, uncaring about the axe in the horse-man's hands. She would bring her shapely and strong legs to bear upon the opponent first, to gauge distance and see how they reacted to her attack.

(If it's ok with you, I'd like you to roll two rounds of combat per post unless something dramatic happens along the way.)

As the centaur charges at her, Mei-Lien manages to land a solid kick to his face, breaking his nose and putting a look of shock across his face, as if he hadn't expected the girl to be quite so strong. He still manages to bring his axe to bear, slashing Mei-Lien's shoulder and drawing blood; she notices that it's perhaps less painful than she had expected it to be, but still no joke. Even so she gracefully twirls around and lands another kick to the centaur's head, causing it to crumple to the ground unconscious. Her opponent defeated, the world slowly fades to black, and she feels that same weightless feeling until she finds herself sitting in the EGG once again, staring at the options.

With her double kicks easily destroying the centaur before the battle even properly began, Mei finds herself a bit dissappointed at the challenge. Sure, she did get a nasty bite from the horse-man's axe, but the girl had expected a bit more from the creature. "Well.. it's a battle among battles.. one more experience under my belt now.." she thinks as the caved-in head of the horse-man was there under her heel. The cut felt a bit more tame than she had imagined, but was still very realistic. The pain vanishes along with the world of the quick battle as she finds herself at the seat of her console again. With the options shining there against her face, Mei decided it was time to start the proper game. So, she quickly poked at the New Game button.

When Mei-Lien hit New Game, she was prompted to choose a difficulty setting:

After selecting that, she was presented with a list of options for locations.

"Options, options..." the former champion muttered under her breath as she did more selections. Picking up normal and Feralia, she leaned back and waited for the game to begin in earnest.

When Mei-Lien entered in her choices the options screen faded away, and she felt the same weightless feeling as the EGG generated the world she had chosen around her. Everything was fuzzy for a minute or two before coming into focus, and she found herself standing in a small grove of trees next to a wide dirt road. The road went on a short ways before stopping at an enormous set of gates; she could see the tremendously high walls of a large city that seemed to go on for quite a ways, inclining up a nearby hill, extending until it reached a seaside cliff to what she assumed was the west, because the sun was slowly setting. She could just make out the guards at the front of the gate in the growing twilight.

Once the game loaded itself properly, Mei was in a small copse of trees. Taking in the surroundings, she moves to the road and heads towards the guarded front gate. "Looks like night is slowly creeping in... best seek shelter in the city"

Mei-Lien approached the gates, which looked a bit more imposing from up close, and was confronted by two armed guards. "Ah, 'ello there. Ya 'ave business 'ere? Do ya 'ave yer papers in order, or are ya from far off?" one of them called out in a cheerful tone of voice. They seemed pretty relaxed considering that they were guarding the gates; perhaps this was a fairly safe place.

Onc she was at the gate, Mei is faced with two guards, both wielding weapons. The other one soon addresses her, asking about her reason for coming into the city. Holding back her desire to giggle at the man's way of speaking, the martial artist gives him a polite bow. "Yes, I'm from the faraway lands. Just looking for a place to spent the night in, maybe pick up some work." she replies to the guard, noticing his relaxed attitude.

"In that case, we'll let ya through. Most folks round 'ere 'ave identification papers, but new arrivals obviously don't. Ye'll want tah get those soon, though dependin on the work ya get, ya might want tah avoid that" the soldier said before turning and yelling "open the gates, traveler comin through!" With that the gates began to slide inward with a creaking sound, and she was led into the gates, only to be confronted by another set of gates as the first ones closed behind her. When they were closed again, the second set opened, and she was led into the city by the friendly soldier. Most of what she could see appeared to be guard posts and military buildings. "I'm guessin ye'll want tah find a place tah sleep. There's a few inns in town, dependin on how much ya want tah spend. If'n ya 'ave money. There's a right good one two streets that way and one street that way" he said, pointing out his directions. "Tell em I sent ya, and they might give ya a discount."

Letting the funny-speaking man explain the standards and practises, Mei thanks him as he finishes, offering another courteous bow. The city had impressive security measure, she thought as the twin gates opened and closed in front of her. Once escorted in by the soldier, the former champion receives free bit of advice from the man. "Alright, I'll go there if you think it's good" she assures the man as they separate, with Mei heading towards the said inn.

Mei-Lien walked two blocks deeper into the city, passing narrow cobblestone streets on each side in what appeared to be a mix of a residential, commercial, and military district. She then heads a block towards the sea into a more clearly residential zone, with small stone houses lining the narrow side street. Soon she comes upon the inn; it's a plain, two story affair, plainly labeled "Southside Inn." When Mei-Lien walked in the door she would be greeted by the sight of a plain, nearly empty room, a young girl of about eight sitting behind a counter. When she saw Mei-Lien walk in she called out "ma, we have a customer!" A somewhat portly woman hurried quickly to the counter. "Oh dear, a customer. We don't get as many of those these days. You're wanting a room for the night?"

Going through the city, Mei absorbs the surroundings into her mind in case something happened. The girl was careful, planning ahead in case of some type of emergency. As she spots the sign of the inn, Mei-Lien goes in pretty nonchalantly. The looks of the place appealed to her, she had never been one to desire overtly fancy or luxurious surroundings. It didn't dissapoint on the inside as well, the silence of the spot bringing further peace to her mind. Once the woman comes over to greet her, Mei bows to her just like she had to the small girl a moment earlier. "That was the idea, yes. The funny-speaking soldier at the city gates recommended this place for me."

The woman looked confused for a bit before saying "oh, Jerry sent you? Gods bless his soul, he's a good man. If he sent you on, you can't be all bad. I'll let you stay the night for just twenty Mar." Mei-Lien would find that she had been given some currency by the game in the form of silver coins, and that a few of them seemed to be marked with a large 10. When Mei-Lien had paid the woman, she turned to her daughter and said "lead her on up to the corner room, will you?" The girl nodded and replied "yes ma," then picked up a candle and led Mei-Lien up a flight of steps and to the left, eventually coming to a door at the end of a narrow hallway and unlocking it, then handing the key to Mei-Lien. "If you need something, come down to the front desk and ask to see ma, or ring the bell" she said, before walking back to the stairs. When Mei-Lien entered the room she'd find that it was fairly nice, but reserved. A window to the front and the side, with a bed along the other side, and a small bare desk on the near wall with a candle sitting on it. The bed looked reasonably comfortable, and it would be dark soon, so she should probably sleep, though she noted that the game hadn't given her any clothes to sleep in.

After paying for her lodgings, Mei follows the little girl upstairs and enters the room. "Alright, I'll keep that in mind." she replies to the girl as the room key is presented to her, bowing in the little girl's direction as she leaves.

Examining the room a bit, the former champion does a short stretching and exercise regime, the one she did daily in the dim light of the candle. With no particular clothes to sleep in, Mei decides to spend the night in just her panties, setting everything else aside during her sleeptime. She didn't want to bother asking for night clothes.
