To this day, Nightmare Sphere is the best metroidvania game, with H-content, to come out. I've still to see anything else that even comes close to the amount and quality of content and animation in unison with the extremely fluid controls and gameplay complexity, with a decent story concept to boot.

The entirety of the hentai content of his next game could be a random tiny naked picture in the background of a empty room you can't even reach till you have every single movement skill and i would still play the shit out of it.

The quality of animation is pretty mixed, honestly. The movement of the player is fine, but the H-animations aren't particularly well done. They're very short loops, and look pretty twitchy.

It's a good game, but I'd certainly have higher hopes for the animation than the original.

Have to agree with you there. Actually I think the H-animations in NS1 were a bit better than NS0 honestly. Some of the movements did look a bit unnatural in NS0, especially the head of the victim. And as you mentioned before, it was obvious they were separate sprites rather than actual paired animations.

I think the discrepancy may be because he used pre-made (3rd party) running animations, and had to make the H-animations himself. There are many such animations available for Poser and DAZ, and I believe he used one of those two programs. (he mentioned Renderosity in the credits, a site for purchasing DAZ and Poser content) This is just speculation though, based on my own experience being that sex is much easier to animate than locomotion.

Not that I'm complaining though, I'll still play whatever he produces this time.

I find the animations to be properly done for what they are, an afterthought, can argue that they are not particularly intersting sure, but my point is that it doesn't matter to me. A lot of these "games" that come out with arguably good hentai animations i don't even care to play, they are grindy slugfests of boredom to unlock porn, i can just get a save file look at the gallery because i don't give a fuck about the "game". It might as well be a slide show of animated gifs.

Nightmare Sphere is different in the fact that i love playing it, the fact that it has some erotic content is a cool addition, but not a necessity, like modding Symphony of the night with chickens in ties. I don't want the author to take away time and resorces, which are already scarce in this specific case, from the actual game for more or better sex animations. As long as i love the game i'll be fine with whatever amount of porn is in there, because erotism is all within people's minds.

It's the difference between a competently drawn character you love in a very specific situation you desire to see against an extremly high quality art piece of an unidentified naked person posing against a pretty background.
I've seen a lot of shtuff, but the best shtuff is not the good shtuff, it's the shtuff that tickles my imagination.
Having both mix would be awesome, i'll give you that, but we're talking about a lone guy doing this for a hobby, i know exactly where i want him to focus.

It wouldn't take much more time to smooth out the H-animations, and no resources at all. And making paired animations might actually save him some time (not having to go through the process of rendering each participant separately). And yes, I speak from experience. Probably even in the same program he is using.

Certainly agree with your other points, though. The gameplay is definitely the main draw here, and even if he hasn't improved in the animation department, it will still almost certainly be a good time.

Downloads for all of MickManX's games are back up, for those interested.

There don't seem to be separate versions up for grabs, so I'm assuming they're all the most recent.


ALSO there are some updates on his current work, no demo still, though he seems to be making enthusiastic progress in the last few days. Pray he doesn't burn too bright.

In the past it worked fine but now every time i get this error message:

Failed to load game data. File seems corrupted.

Unfortunate no, Nightmare Sphere 0 has been abandoned. He is working on another Nightmare Sphere though.
