Both doors into the building were unlocked, so Clara simply entered the closer of the two, which led into the room she had observed more of. Entering the small office, Clara found that it was largely empty of anything interesting. The desk held a few pens and empty ink wells, and a good number of papers, all having to do with numbers and shipments and other various things associated with mining. Nothing that could help her, certainly. That is, until she found a small ledger that had the words; "Slave Budget," written onto the cover in black ink.

Clara would take a closer look at the ledger, eyeing it over and inspecting it as thoroughly as possible, once done she would pocket it for future reference, and moved out of the room, to enter the other door of the building, see if anything of interest was in there,

If nothing of interest was around, or if it lead to the same room, she would head back into the pit in the ground, and investigate it closer, perhaps even enter through its depths, it seemed that the slavers where close by, and they had taken this mining shaft for some reason, she was going to find out why.

As she paws through the ledger, Clara is disappointed to find no direct reference to those that had been taken from her village, either by names or by where they'd been taken from. The ledger had only about seven pages worth of text, about fifty lines each, while each line of which had a seven digit number, a race, and the name of those that had sold the slave. The first two pages all had the word; 'Deceased' written in bold next to it, and all of them were human. Then, the list became more irregular, with numerous elves, orcs, and even a few of the Fey listed along with more humans, but never in large clumps. Some were also listed as dead, though it became less and less frequent as she continued on. Then, on the last page, she found a group of orcs clumped together, about the same number that had been taken from her village, but she cursed the lack of any date at which they'd arrived. It could be her people, but she had no way to be sure until she found them, and the book listed neither the date they arrived, nor the place where they were kept.

Pocketing the ledger, she went into the other room, which was barren of anything she thought might be useful to her search. Then, heading outside, she examined the tunnel. It was clearly man-made, having an even floor and a steel track for carts to travel along, and held up by wooden beams. Tracks lead in and out, though Clara could not identify who or what had left any of them since they were so jumbled, though she knew that many looked recent. It wasn't a pit, so much as a tunnel, as it sloped gently downward into the dark depths of the mine.

Clara began to step tentatively forward, looking all around, gripping her hand around her club, and pushing her legs gently down with each step, trying to be quiet in her persuit of whatever had made those tracks, it couldn't hurt to take a look at what was inside, especially not if it could help her cause.

She would pause at the sign of anything valuable, or of interest.
(Venture into the depths of the tunnel)

Heading into the tunnel, Clara slowly and cautiously makes her way down until it becomes too dark to see. Then, she feels her way along the wall until she feels it end, suggesting that it ended, possibly in a turn in the passage. Without light, Clara couldn't tell which directions she could go in, much less where she should go.
