Do you use any particular programs for your image collection?

For example, I have about 200k images (according to picasa, but that's only in my "organized" folder there's probably 100k of unorganized images), but picasa also takes up several gigs for caching. However, it gives me tags, which makes it easier to organize images.

Irfanview. It has a batch option, that allows you to rename and move images in large groups, and then there's visipics to sort out dupes.

Re: Organizing images

Never tried visipics, but from what I've read it seems pretty good at weeding out the dupes. Been using picasa's dupe finder and it does its job...but often times I want to know what it's comparing against since there is no editable threshold on what it means for two images to be dupes so two similar images could be flagged.

But it doesn't tell me that kind of info lol

Actually I'm pretty impressed that it can find dupes in less than a split second through 200k images (I mean, 1 to N comparisons 200000 times doesn't seem like a trivial task even if it checks dimensions and all), though it's probably also caching that info somewhere...
