Can he get around it with a publisher?

I will say, I browsed steam to see what type of content they allow, and steam seems to be....pretty vanilla. I searched through both the hentai tag, and sexual content tag, most of the games on there are dating sims, gallery games, visual novels, and some of those jigsaw puzzle games and candy crush clones. I had to scroll through an awful lot of pages to get to re:bf even. The genre of H game, commonly referred to as RoR (sex on defeat/capture) that we're used to getting from ACT games don't seem that common, so to me, seems like they have a much lesser approval rate.

They exist, they are there. Eroico is there, and celesphonia, but....I mean, look at the ACT games category on DLSITE and then look at steam and a majority of those games aren't on there. It's a touchy genre of game, that's misunderstood and alot of people don't get it. The few that did get approved, based off their infrequency feel almost like accidents.

Also, I'm gonna poo poo the storefront for a sec, user generated tags are terrible. Soundpad, DMC V Virgil, atelier games, dj max and other non H games are mixed in there as "haha, funny meme, get it? I liked Virgil so much I coomed! Haha, aren't I funny" and it just gunk's up search results.

You're right, the issue lays elsewhere, no matter what patreon propaganda sings.
The last area has undeniable shota and bestiality. Megadick is probably only an issue for my/our mental health.
Horror and violence in the first 2 stages were very easy to overlook in comparison. That's the way they chose to go, is all. Steam isn't to blame.

Obviously, Steam will never sell that... Itch.io would; but I have no idea how greedy they are compared to the 2 other resellers.

Anyway, they released the new stage yesterday:
I think people have just given up on the ridiculous amount of excuses patreon scammers--sorry, developers--keep throwing out consistently. Like, all of them. I get we're owed nothing but by that same token we owe them nothing either, and I ain't gonna praise something's scrawls. Give me a full product, I pay for it, kinda simple. So with 'developers' like this basically having nothing to show for years on end, it just becomes kind of hard to be enthusiastic.

Also, for what it's worth, Steam has tons of games with bestiality and shota/loli and even worse. One of their best selling and most-marketed games when they first officially allowed erotic games openly has both. So do both Venus Blood games on Steam. Summer Memories is a shota game, lol. Yeah, they get around it with patches, but even the laziest search will reveal the truth. If he does it via patch and doesn't loudly brag about it, Steam literally won't care. They get trigger happy with VNs a lot of the settings are by definition questionable (high school) so it makes it easy for a lot of their mod stuff to just blithely ban those game.

Anyway, thanks for posting the new level is up. I might as well milk whatever is up until the dev decides to actually release the game.

I have mixed emotions about the new level
It's both REALLY well done
Yet missing something I expected more of.

Yeah the new level was a bit meh, animations are nice as always but nothing interesting, level design is bad and I did not finish the segment with taking the corrupt talisman to the lounge because it leads to a slow, boring and tedious section with gas traps, annoying imps and falling slime to avoid... same problem as the big dick part of the science level.

You can actually avoid the floor drop into that level by long jumping. Basically you long jump right at the edge of where the floor drop triggers and then land, the floor drops, and then you try to fall right onto the remaining part of the floor.

Damn, like 3x longer for this update in comparison to ver 3 and it looks like the dev is outta his element now. Suffers the same issues most H game platformers do, long walks and 'platforming' in-between actual content. Though I did play the game as a normal video game, once I got to fight the priest boss I realized what a waste of time I committed towards. Payout was terrible in this update, dev needs to finish this H game in the next level, I don't think it's got much time left regardless of however long he takes now that everyone's played this shit. Can't post it on steam anyway so fuck it, move on to greener pasture and try again.

There's a secret boss, but even if you do it, it still feels lacking.

You're not supposed to, because you lose the grimoire. You're supposed to jump the gap to keep the grimoire.

As long as he's dedicated to his lolies I don't think he'll ever get to be on steam again.
The card game he was developing is proof of that I think.

This new update was a bit disappointing to me.
I liked the girls and found them attractive but a lot of the content didn't do much for me.

Though, I will say that the name Castle of Temptation fit best with this level. Lots of temptation maledom in this update. If you split the animations into the "light half" and the "demon half"
Where the light half is most of the temptation maledom and the demon half is the femdom, I'd say most of the content is in the light half surprisingly.
Paizuri temptation from the girl in the infirmary, her hand job, the missionary girl in the lounge.
Ah...I forgot about the statues too! Nvm, those are in the demon half.

Honestly, the only scenes I liked were the demon loli, and the final boss. The background scenes were kinda nice though, they felt lacking, especially in speed. Also since they happened in the background I couldn't really enjoy them.

The more I look at this game though, the more I realize I don't fully sexually jive with it.
Some scenes had me full soft.

Like... I really didn't like the scene with the nun on the bed getting fucked by a random stranger and asking if I wanted to fuck her afterwards.
Didn't like the final boss's post defeat scene either. The gangbang where all she does is play with your balls and ride some other guy's dick.
Really didn't like the demon footjob and piss content either.

There really wasn't much in this update to like sexually. Well... if he's getting exhausted developing I can understand him wanting to rush the last parts out. Hope he manages it. First and Second level are still pretty good imo. Furry, and android parts of the third level were good too. It's weirder I think that I expected this game to have more hits sexually than misses. I guess at some point it was bound to start missing since it did what it wanted to do, and now he's just being creative.

Ah, then the steam ban is inconsequential to him. Good, fuck steam when it comes to H games. Didn't hear about his card game, hope it's like what that Succubus Senki creator is doing where the succubus cards try to fuck you.

He posted previews on the idea on twitter a while back.
I don't know what the Succubus Senki guy's doing but that sounds pretty fun. What's your issue with that if I might ask?

Please don't take this as me being rude, but I think that's an extremely shortsighted mentality to have.

Game devs need money as incentive to create. The reason that Castle of Temptation exists and had such a large scope was because his game was extremely successful on Steam.
Steam is where the normies go. They don't go on the internet and look for games. They don't have the technical capability to do something as basic as unzipping files. You have no idea how many times I myself had to troubleshoot a problem when the solution was just to unzip the file. They need to be spoonfed.

They all know about Steam though. Steam = Game place on PC. It's not healthy that this is the case. It's not good that consumers are this retarded, but that's the world we live in. Steam sales aren't just slightly better than sales on other platforms. They are leagues ahead. Like ludicrously so. That's why publishers are so popular on Steam, because they can work with devs in a way that allows their product to be released on the platform. And you know what. The games will have the financial overhead to handle a publisher! It's incomparable.

Alicesoft actually threw a fit when Evenicle 2 couldn't be released on the platform. It is a big deal.
I can empathize with how much of a motivation killer it can be to know that your game isn't allowed. This isn't inconsequential.

I dunno what you're going on about but... Point is while the attention an H game developer can get while being hosted on a mainstream platform is a boon, don't forget where most of degenerates lie, on the outside of mainstream consumption. If your goal is to make money, all you would need to do is appeal to the mainstream. Relatively easy to do and if your fetishes also align with it then easy money, but if you have a passion and a fetish for creations the general public dislikes, you will have to wrestle with the lack of opportunity. H game creators have been making H games since before even dlsite on those 2chan boards, this is nothing new to them. As long as a creator has passion, they don't need to suck on Steam's tit. Shameful for anyone who sells out their passion in favor of a quick buck I say, art should not be a medium for the vagabonds of a consumeristic approach. That being said, a guy needs to eat, thankfully the economy isn't so bad a couple thousand bucks off patreon/fanbox isn't hobo town yet for people, mostly.

I honestly misread your statement lol.

Not necessarily. The most popular games aren't the most vanilla.

That's a very interesting outlook and I don't disagree. Still a passion drainer though... knowing that the project you expected much from has had it's expected returns cut by more than half.
I wouldn't call these creators sell outs though, because scope is decided based on those returns. If they have lower expected returns they'll modify the scope accordingly.

It hurts so much. They can't even rub two braincells together and use a search engine first either.

Considering that the mainstream fetishes seem to be packed with futa, incest, and 'bussy' I'll just accept my sprite/dot obsession curse and solely rely on DLsite. Must suck to be a jap autist though, making what you think is a reasonable competitor to western games and looking at the money Fallen Doll, Subverse, and Forever Future Fragments rake in via steam before getting told you can't sell your game next to the other bestiality/'it's totally not rape' games on offer that are making a killing.

They need to realise however that the west as a whole is (apart from pollies and celebs) not as comfortable with depictions of children in pornography as they are. At this point it's on the dev if their loli game isn't able to be sold on western platforms or bought via western payment processors, they should have picked up on the hints by now.

Bruh that kind of stigma has been in their face since the rapelay debacle back in 2005, the Japanese (Outside of corporate interests and politicians lining their pockets) don't give a shit about the politics involved in the porn making they just want to make porn. And to be fair most westerners don't really follow the law anyway like you said, at the end of the day no 'Landlady' or 'Guy in a horse suit' is gonna change the bureaucratic nonsense of sites hosted in our current western leader countries, if it ain't roris it'll be some other fuckin thing like imaginary rap- oh wait.

Fuck steam, fuck the people that piss their ideas away in favor of the 'correct way' to do art, and fuck anyone who supports that shit. Viva la Japanese hentai!

But we're getting off track anyway, I'm assuming stage 5 of this game is gonna be the end given where the map location is at. The super secret boss where we need to collect all the collectables in every stage is likely also to be a pain in the ass, here's hoping someone provides a full save when that day comes.

you can have all the passion you want, passion doesnt keep the lights on, the internet on, or your PC running if a part craps out. Steady income and time is what you need to see a project to completion. you aint making shit if youre homeless

Thankfully we don't live in a world where without the grace of steam or any other platform you couldn't live to be independently making games.
