Glad I'm not the only one with this problem and this sometimes happens with many games. There could be many reasons as to why errors like this pop up, perhaps the update corrupted some data, maybe a file extractor such as winrar messed up some filenames during extraction. Whatever the case is, you can usually resolve it by downloading data from the game's demo/trial and replacing the missing files.
The problem with this however is that the trial does not cover all the data the full game has to offer, therefore it is unknown if the above method will even fix all the issues as you could experience a similar one later in the game. The best way to go is to find a previous version of the game that was actually working and use the spare files to repair the newest one, unfortunately due to the old age of this game, finding a previous version of it is going to be difficult since most of the links have been taken down either by the circle or due to expiring because of the lack of activity.
