After they as quickly as possible made their way back out and into the warmth of the cave, they all sat down together and rested for a bit. Shiori listened to Karen asking her if she wished to explore some, and the young okami had to admit that sounded like a good plan, as the more magic they had the more powerful they'd be. "Hmm... sure yeah we could take a look around, but if we start getting too cold we should head on back here before going back to Tendril's tower so you can do that thing for me, so I can impregnate and whatnot," Shiori said after a few moments of thought, her tail wagging a little at the thought of them exploring.

Nodding, Karen stated "I cant leave with you unfortunately, i have to stay here and make sure that these guys dont all run off or get seperated", Kaei shrugged and said "Fair enough."

"Hmm... well in that case, we could stay here and help you out a little until we can. Or we could go explore while you stay here with them and we can all leave together," Shiori said, making a couple of suggestions, waiting to see what Kaei and Karen thought about it before she decided on anything else.

Nodding, Karen said "Its decided, you go and explore while i keep a eye on these randy things and hope they dont go running out", Kaei looked at Shiori and nodded, Karen broke a few of the orange crystals sprouting from the walls off their stalks and gave them to Shiori and Kaei "These will be needed, since you wont be able to rely on my warmth to live in the cold wastes, try to stay out of the cold as much as possible" Karen warned them.

Shiori nodded back to Karen after taking some of the crystals and passing Kaei some as well. "Don't worry we'll be careful, we won't go too far around... maybe back into the temple or something I don't know, just something to kill time. About when should we be getting back?" Shiori said to Karen, readying herself to go back out into the coldness, placing her crystals around in her robes to maximize the warmth given by them.

Once they had a definite answer as to when they should be back, Shiori would tell Karen okay and give her a hug of thanks before taking Kaei's hand and heading out to explore the general area around the cave, and if nothing of any value showed up then they would go back to the temple to look for the magic books Karen had spoke of.

Kaei kept the crystals on her person in a similar way to Shiori, following her outside into the snowy tundra, looking around, there was no blizzard so it was possible to see ahead, Shiori could go back into the cathedral or explore the general area for a bit, Kaei had her rapier out just in case.

After Kaei was ready and the headed on out, Shiori saw that it wasn't snowing like crazy as she had expected it to be, though there was a good deal of it on the ground. "Well Kaei, you wanna take a look around here first? Or head on into the temple? I'm personally wanting another look at the temple, despite having a slightly bad feeling about it and all," Shiori asked Kaei, wanting to know what she wished to do before making a decision.

If Kaei decided to go on into the temple then Shiori would lead the way back in and they would take a better look around the place, peeking into shut rooms and such. But if Kaei decided she would rather look around outside, then Shiori would still lead the way, though they'd simply be outside instead of in. Regardless of which way they ended up going, Shiori would keep her own weapon at the ready just as Kaei was doing.

Looking around, Kaei nodded and said "We might as well explore it further, since i dont think we`ll find anything in these wastes apart from more cold", going back into the temple Shiori could see nothing of interest but there was infact another frozen over door against the left wall.

"True that, let's go," Shiori replied to Kaei, agreeing with her about likely not finding anything outside.

After that they headed back into the temple, and though they didn't find anything new in the first room, they did see another door which was still closed on the left wall. Nodding at Kaei, Shiori headed on over to it and opened it, pushing and or kicking if need be.

Trying to open the door was easier said than done, it was barely budging with every kick and shoulder barge, huffing in frustration and tiredness, Kaei casually pushed Shiori out of the way, then used her fire magic to melt the ice covering the door, she had a smug look on her face afterwards when she opened the door and said "After you~" in a smug tone.

When Shiori tried opening the door, it simply would not budge no matter how hard she pushed or kicked it, however when she stopped to rest for a minute or two before going back to it, Kaei gently pushed her out of the way and used her fire magics to melt the ice on the door. When she gave Shiori that smug look and tone when speaking, Shiori puffed up a cheek and looked over at Kaei. "Hmph... see if I open a door for you again," Shiori said in a joking manner and raising an eyebrow at her.

After that they would go on through to explore further into the temple, with Shiori holding Kaei's hand and keeping her close.

Going in through the door that had been opened, Shiori could feel it got slightly chillier than normal, looking around the only way forward was what looked like a slide made out of ice, sloping downward into the black depths below, she assumed this would be a one way trip until they could find a exit at whatever awaited them at the end of this slide, kaei looked at shiori and asked "Wanna go down?"

"Well... I'm honestly not too keen on going down with no noticeable way back up myself Kaei. But if you want to go down, then I'll go. I'd like to find a way back up before we go down though," Shiori said, wondering what Kaei wanted to do for now.

Should Kaei want to go ahead and go down, then Shiori would ready herself and hop down. However if Kaei decided to try and find the way back up first then Shiori would not hop on down and they would then begin to search for a way down other than the slide.

Kaei looked just as concerned as Shiori did, sighing, she left the slide "You`re right, god knows what could be awaiting us down there", she seemed to be thinking about this, she shook her head and said "Yeah, lets leave this slide"

[Perception check passed]

Looking around, Shiori could see a small stone out of place in the left wall, it seemed like it could be moved...

"Yeah really, not that I'm not curious or anything though of course. I just think it'd be better to err on the side of caution is all, because what if we got trapped down there with no way out, we'd freeze to death after a little while most likely before Karen could get to us," Shiori said, moving with Kaei away from the slide leading down into the darkness.

With that the two of them began searching around the room for another passageway leading down. It took them a few minutes of searching, but eventually Shiori spotted a stone that looked quite out of place and so went over to look closer at it. Shiori saw that the stone there could be moved some and then moved it as much as need be to get through what Shiori assumed was a door, following the path therein as far as they could before an obstacle emerged.

Putting her hand on it, she could see that it would only move up and down, there seemed to be a sort of lock in place as well, it seemed like depending on the direction she moved it something in the cave would change or move about, Kaei looked out the door they came in through and said "Hey i think i can see a shelf of books out there..."

As Shiori moved the strange stone around on the wall, she heard something outside their room, and when Kaei said she thought she could see a bookshelf outside the room, Shiori locked the stone slab into place and gestured to Kaei, starting out towards where she mentioned. "Come on sweetie, if nothing comes of it we'll come back and move that stone the other way and see what happens," Shiori said as she took Kaei's hand and started towards where she'd mentioned.

Nodding, Kaei followed Shiori back into the main area of the cathedral, sure enough there was a bookshelf full of books, but it was frozen over, it seemed weak enough for Shiori to break, Kaei tried to melt it again but the spell backfired and exploded in her face, covering her face in soot as she coughed repeadetely in frustration.

After they went back out into the main area of the large cathedral like temple, Shiori noticed there was a large bookshelf with a great many books on it, though frozen over. She was sure she could break the ice off of it though, but before she could try and do so Kaei attempted her fire magic again, which backfired on her, covering her in soot and ash, going into a coughing fit. Shiori burst out laughing at Kaei after what had happened to her mate, unable to hold it back.

"Kaei... you look so funny... oh gods, I'm sorry about that, but it's so funny," Shiori said, laughing so hard she nearly had tears in her eyes, after a few moments she recomposed herself and continued speaking, "Anyway... I'd say it's got a magical barrier of some sort to protect the books from fire or something."

With that, Shiori brought her foot up and gave the ice a kick in its weakest spot, hoping to break it enough for them to see what all was on the bookshelf.

Kaei grumbled slightly at Shioris laughter, she felt somewhat annoyed when Shiori easily kicked in the shelf of books, breaking the ice around it, there were many books but a few stood out, one was blue, another was dark green and one more was purple.
